Grapple
Grapple
Grapple is the second plugin in my line of mechanic adding plugins! Press Q while holding a tripwire hook to throw a grappling hook, and be pulled in when it makes contact! No commands, one permission, a good simple grappling hook that I couldn't seem to find elsewhere.
Warning!
Depending on how your server is configured, players may be stopped midair for speed hacking. To solve this, upgrade to the newest Craftbukkit, which seems to be more lenient in accusing players of hacking. If you use NoCheatPlus or another anti-cheat plugin, additional configuration to that plugin may be required in order to allow players to travel at higher speeds.
Permissions
grapple.use - allows use of the grappling hook, otherwise pressing Q with the hook will simply drop it.
Updates
This plugins will be maintained until it becomes impossible to do so, which probably wont happen! Content updates will be based on bugs reported in the comments, and the results of the update poll.
Mech plugins
Other plugins
- TorchThrow - Press Q to throw a torch, try it!
- Shields - Defend yourself!
- Sheath - Sheath thy weapon!
Pretty awesome, might add this to my production server soon.

@skookiesprite
It works fine...
Hiya! Please tell me that you're going to be able to find the time to update this plug to 1.4.6... ar eyou waiting for it be out of beta before updating it? Thanks again for the wonderful plug!
@Hampeyo
Guide:
1) learn what permissions are
Could someone give me a foolproof guide to allow this plugin for my non-op friends? :(
@skookiesprite
Well, it's not so much intentional as a product of the math I use to calculate the launch velocity, at short ranges the change in Y seems too small, and at long distances it seems to large. To fix the short distance problem I made it so crouched players get launched higher, and to fix the long distance problem, I put an option in the config to cancel fall damage caused by Grapple.
Love this plugin; my users have had tons of fun with it. Super props go to making the distance configurabe and the SKILL you need to actually use this feature well (it takes practice, which is brilliant). One comment/suggestion though: the only thing I DON'T like about it is how, if you're not careful, you can get LAUNCHED waaaaay above where your hook landed. I can think of some rationales for this being intentional, but was just curious to hear about it straight from the horse's mouth. Anyway, good job man!
Please build against Java 6 rather than Java 7, or servers using Java 6 won't be able to use the plugin.
@Willbbz
I will attempt to track down the problem. It seems to have something to do with fireballs. I don't bother to increment my versions, so don't expect the version to change from 0.1
Hi there seems to be a problem with your versioning. Using V3.7 I am told on start up the plugin is infact version 0.1
Also I am getting this error flooding my console, hopefully you can identify the problem

@Bimmr
To my knowledge, NoCheat plugin don't have APIs. To add compatibility to your server, turn off the speed checks in the config of your no cheat plugin.
Why not add nocheatplus/anti-cheat support?
@Llamasquishy
lol, $75 to use my plugins! I wish I had thought of that...
Small update coming out tonight, brings the option to fire a snowball instead of an arrow, useful if you use the unlimited setting, and your players are using the hook for combat against your will.
This plugin is fricken amazing! I have just added Grapple and TorchThrow as Donator Perks on my server, Arcadia Minecraft! Thanks for making two of my new favourite plugins!

Thank you all for over 1000 downloads! This plugin is complete, so I am moving on to the next most requested plugin, Carry, which will allow players to carry each other. If you find bugs in Grapple, report them here, and I will fix them and release bug fix updates.
@astaldar You dont need to type commands. Grapple.use is a permission node. Just give to user who want to use it
