Just use the simple commands linked below and you'll be on your way. No tricky maneuvers required!
To make books auto-update, make the book's title end with "[U]". For example, "booktitle[U],authorname.txt" or "updatingbook[U].txt".
All book data saves to [Server Plugins Folder]->[Books without Borders]->[Books]

Concerning Future Updates
Development for this plugin is currently inactive for the foreseeable future, though I would love to start again if I ever got the chance. If I become aware that this plugin no longer functions with current builds of bukkit and minecraft I will update this page to reflect that.
A sincere thank you to everyone who used and/or gave feedback for this plugin. It was a pleasure while it lasted.
If you enjoy this plugin and want to say thanks, some caffeine is always welcome :D

I have just uploaded BooksWithoutBorders v1.2.5. Among other things, this update adds setAuthor and setTitle commands for books as well as a setLore command for all items. It also allows book giving signs the ability to use load list numbers in place of actual book titles.
I hope everyone enjoys the new features, and as usual I look forward to your continued support and feedback.
@CommodoreAlpha I'm planning to add title and author altering commands with the next update. This is a link to all I know can that can be done while writing a book. It includes how to set color and the other effects you asked about.
Thank you for your interest and please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Is it possible to change/configure the lore (e.g. the line with the author's name) and/or re-title a written book? Could you also add the ability to use colour codes and other effects (like bold and italics) while writing a book?
@monstercat101
Thank you for your continued interest, it means a great deal to me. I definitely plan to continue updating the plugin, I've just been a bit bogged down with work lately.
Thank you for making this plugin, it is amazing life saver when you have a bunch of lore books you want to change anytime. I hope this will keep getting updated. Thanks again :)
@antichip
Thank you very much for the feedback. The best part of writing a plugin is hearing its been of use.
This has got to be the biggest timesaver I have found for writing and making new books for rules and gameplay, totally freaking awesome.
@Alnatair
Thank you very much for the complement. Positive feedback really helps when it comes time to buckle down and further develop the plugin.
Thanks for the Curse info as well.
With any luck future iterations of BooksWithoutBorders will continue to please!

I hope you get more downloads to get some rewards from Curse.

@Trydgis
Is the server running a 1.5 build?
As to the other issue, 27 pages is definately not a hard coded limitation, a book should be able to run much longer than that. If it is not a bother, could you pm or post the text that is cutting off at 27 pages so that I examine it and recreate the issue? Thank you in advance and sorry for the slow response.
I uploaded a book and it crashed my server, giving me the following error message upon login:
Internal Exception: u: Loading NBT data
Does anyone know of a solution to fix this?
It will give me a book with only 27 pages when I load text files into books. Is this the max number or is there some way to change this into allowing it to add more pages?
@odisos2 and @niels241
With any luck the next update will fix these defects. With the current system you end up with too many pages or overbearing formatting. Again I thank you for your time and patience.
@AkiraAkiba
Removing this [Book] line does help, but there is one problem left: the plugin doesn't save any empty lines on the end of pages, so for example the first two lines of page 2 are placed at the end of page 1.
@AkiraAkiba
replacing _ with space manually works. removing [book] cuts the extra pages down but adds creates a fluent text. example: two half pages are shorten to one full page.
@odisos2
I'm sorry to hear the plugin is giving you difficulty. To fix the issue of the extra pages, see my post here.
I am unsure of what would cause the underscores in the book title, but you can always remove them from the name of the text file that is created when you save the book.
Please let me know if this solution has not remedied the issue for you.
The save funktion seems to work incorrect. I saved a 26 pages book (created with 3rd party prog and over the mc book limets). The version i get with /bwb load has over 60 pages and something like:
1 <-stand in the middle over the text
test text .....
has a page for 1 which isn't in the middle and a page for "test text ...." Spaces in booktitles are replaced with _ in the /bwb load version
@odisos2
I agree completely, and have been actually working on something similar. With any luck this will be included in the next release of BwB
Because i use books with editet autors and titles its impossible to give them players via a sign. So it would be cool to use the number of the book on signs in the same way like the load command. Maybe by adding [Number] on the third sign line and the book number on the fourth line.
@AkiraAkiba
Thank you! :)
