WeBook - Facebook for Minecraft!

A socializing plugin for your website! This is a website portal compatible with WebAuctionPlus which adds a place for your players to socialize in game or from the website when they are unable to play.

Where this idea came from

When I first rewrote WebAuction, and created WebAuctionPlus, a lot of the code ideas came from website portals I've made in the past. The next major update for WebAuctionPlus, and the first release of WeBook will both be using a new portal framework. This portal comes from plans I've been brainstorming for many years, and has finally come together into these projects. How it works, the portal framework and all the files it needs are included with each plugin in a folder called 'portal', and the plugin specific files are included in its own abbreviated folder, 'wa' for WebAuctionPlus or 'wb' for WeBook. So here's what you'd see:

Only one copy of 'portal' is needed for a website. Just drop in the rest of the files and the portal will automatically detect the plugins, load them, and add the menu buttons.

Planned features of WeBook

To keep with role playing, a computer will be needed to access the WeBook website in game.
A computer screen will be drawn on a map, held in a picture frame, and made unbreakable by the plugin.
When accessing a computer, a book will be displayed with the website.
The same website contents will be displayed in game and on the website, live.
A live chat feature can be added to the website.
Warp links can be clicked in game to warp to the location of a post. Then the player can comment or like the build at that warp location, then be teleported back to their previous location.

Requires: Web server with PHP and MySQL

it's not dead, just marked as inactive because there's not a download for it yet. I'm still working on this plugin. setting up maven and jenkins at the moment. if I could find the right domain for this, it would help set the plugin name in stone more-less. unsure if I'll have to change the name.

Nooo please say that that inactive plugin thing just means you've stopped for the mean time, and will bring it back, because i need this plugin :(

still looking for a good domain.. has to be short and easy to get to. an original domain name for this socializing plugin. since it'll have a global website, it needs a great name.

anyone have thoughts on moderation? will this plugin need an option to have staff moderate posts before they'll show on the website and in game? besides censoring, in game chat is generally open. this could be thought of in a similar way.

I've been working on the backend code for this plugin and web auction plus. it's getting better, but I only have a blank page loading for this plugin so far. if you have any ideas or suggestions how this should work, it might be helpful. I'd like this plugin to do more than just sending messages, but it's not clear yet what direction I'll take this. it should be a fun project to do.

Dude, I really can-not wait for this plugin to come out, It seems sick! and i have been looking forever to find a good social networking plugin! and all i could find was FaceCraft which is like, never gonna update! xD, and the other ones don't have computers, i would love to test this on my server! If you need help, give me a bell, but i can't help with jar stuff, only testing :P I really cannot wait, please don't abandon this!

awesome. I'm designing this portal so it can be used for other plugins or websites. I love how with oop, you can extend an existing class to override parts of it. it also has an automatic class loader, so once the portal.php file is included, you never have to include another file to use classes.

do you have a link to their plugin? I'd like to check it out.

Duuuddeee I'm so excited about this, I know someone that is making the ultimate Wordpress plugin for Minecraft Websites I'm gonna tell him about this so he might use this and it will become FAMOUS :D

thanks. I haven't seen this new design with the data tables added yet, but hopefully it'll look good together. this will be added in the next few days to give pages some content, so I'll post an updated preview then.

yea, it's html, php, css, java, and also bootstrap, jquery, jquery-ui, datatables.. I just updated the description above with the other repository, where most of the work is being done right now. I'm learning a lot of advanced methods and libraries for these projects, and it's pretty fun.

one time, someone on my server showed me a very neat trick. they drew out a picture of a desktop screen flat on the ground, and had a map draw it out. hang the map in a picture frame and you have a pretty freakin awesome computer screen. I'm hoping I can grab the data from one of those maps to store it in this plugin. the computer screen will be protected from being broken, and can turn the computer on and off.

fees could be a daily internet fee to use the computer, cost of buying the computer, fee to create warp links. possibly have contests on the website, with in game rewards like items or money.

I have a good picture in my head of how this will work and look, but my vision is only of one person. I always love to hear your comments or suggestions, or how you think this plugin should work.
