Tutorial
Version: 1.0
Are you tired of putting up dozens of signs with instructions on them, only to have players sprint past them and then not know what to do?
Tutorial is here to help!
When a player first joins the server, they will be put into the tutorial. The tutorial is an interactive experience that blocks outside distractions, while letting the player learn about the server at their own pace. It's boring for players to have to read dozens of signs, so Tutorial was designed to be a fun and interactive experience for players.
The way it works is simple:
- The config contains "slides" that you set up yourself. These slides keep track of different locations and messages.
- When a player enters the tutorial, they will be put on the first slide. This will either constantly teleport them to that slide location or teleport them once, and give them the slide message on a stick.
- Right clicking will bring them to the next slide, while left clicking will bring them back to the previous slide.
I originally made this plugin for my server (mc-cod.com) back in January, but so many people liked it so I decided to release it to the public.
Enjoy!
Commands:
/tutorial [PlayerName]
- Puts the player into tutorial mode.
/slide create [Message]
- Creates a slide with the message at your current location.
Update to 1.8 please?
Update to 1.8 please.
Permission? I don't want any random player making slides on my server
Whenver I make a tutorial, then edit it in the config, it breaks the whole plugin. How can I prevent this? I would like to make my tutorials in the config.
Colored messages can be done if you enter ยง and then the color code in the message config. I know that on mac it is option, six (key)
Please update this plugin and add more features!! I would like to be able to disable chat for the player. And its glitchy when the player is in the air... :(
When is the next update coming out? I really love this plugin!
@forshadowing2
LOL There is a setting in the config that allows you to do that...
Please make this so when players first join the server they will start the tutorial?
@Bobbinkin
Oh, did I really not add in support for color codes? I'll have to add that in the next update.
Great plugin, but players can't see the slide under chat. Also, is it possible to have colors different from red?
that's great, thank-you very much :)
@CentrumGuy
I will include that in the next update.
Really nice plugin.
It would be nice if you could make it so the "Q" key is disabled during the tutorial. but
THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE PLUGINS!!!
@Wukkit
Thanks for the video! I'll add '/slide remove' and '/slide edit (number/end)' in the next version.
Hey man! Very nice plugin, really simple but yet so epic! :D I did a review on it if you want to check it out. - https:www.youtube.com/watch?v=qA6UdQt75VA I hope you enjoy it! ^_^ Keep up the great work! Peace.
I'll be updating this soon with permissions support, and inventory restoring when the tutorial ends.
BEST PLUGIN EVER
I saw this plugin on a server, and always wondered what the name was until I found it. I love the plugin.
Some things that you could add or improve:
-permissions -no item drop -custom commands that will execute at the beginning and at the end of the tutorial
other than that, great plugin :)
Here's a suggestion to add besides, of course, permissions. Add a "bug fix" so that when players use the tutorial, their inventory isn't erased. I have a starter kit for the Hub with a book and a few other tools and unless the players reload the kit, their inventories are wiped. I put a little blurb at the end that users should use the specific command to give the kit again. That, or, at the end of the tutorial, add the option for commands.
This seems very helpfull. Is there maybe a video demonstrating this?
I'll probably try this anyway. Would be awesome if you could add in those permissions.
