TreeFeller
TreeFeller is a plugin that allows you to chop a tree down like cacti. Break the bottom block and the entire tree will fall.
TreeFeller is being created by me, Marcus Krueger. In-game I am Spartaness. On here I am Waizujin and on the Bukkit forums and Minecraft forums I am The Wiseman. I decided to create this plugin because all of the other plugins were outdated, or buggy. I am still learning Java so development may be a bit slow, but I am learning.
Having issues with TreeFeller? Have a question? Just want to talk? Add me on MSN as "[email protected]" or on Skype as "Waizujin".
Works fine on 1.0.1 R-1.
An awesome plug in C:
I hope you will keep it up-to-date as CB gets updated xD
Could you add a permission for certain type of tools, like only works with golden axes?
I love you. (no homo)
NO MORE FLOATING TREES
I found a plugin conflict. If you use the plugin NoLagg with the TreeFeller, the TreeFeller will lag to drop or do not drop the logs from the tree.

This plugin is meant to serve one primary purpose, and that is to make trees act like cacti. If you want other drops from leaves and such then you can get another plugin for that.
I can make wood blocks take longer to chop, I will look into how easy that would be.
If you want all fallen saplings to replant themselves, then again, get another plugin. That is not the point of this plugin. In the future, a single sapling will be auto planted when the tree is cut down, but nothing more.
There should be no difference in leaf decay time. Unless there is something going on I am missing. In the future there will be automatic leaf removal and I will try to implement normal drops with that.
Please refer me to these plugins because I don't know which ones you are talking about. There is ChopTree but that one has been proven to have quiet a few bugs and generally not work well. Other than that, I have not seen any others, and I HAVE searched.
This plugin is not the same as the others. This plugin is simplified, cleaner, uses the latest coding standards and doesn't display errors like ChopTree. Another thing that sets this plugin apart is the fact that I release specifically for the latest builds of bukkit.
If you want lots of options like apples falling from trees and such, then you will have to find a separate plugin. My goal is to make trees fall like cacti and very little else. I want something light weight but effective. If this plugin does not work with plugins like that, then I will gladly try my best to make it compatible, however it will not be expanded to features I consider useless.
I appreciate your input, but I do not plan to expand beyond the simple function of making trees act like cacti. If I do decide to expand beyond that, I will most likely make another plugin called TreeFeller+ that has all those nice features.
Thanks.
Sincerely, Marcus Krueger
Suggest making wood blocks harder to break so that trees still take (overall) the same amount of effort to harvest?
Also would be nice if fallen saplings left on dirt in sunlight would automatically take root, so that forests can replant themselves (like real life) rather than depending on players.
The time diff between taking down a tree trunk and the leaves decaying is super noticeable. Any chance you could clear the leaves too, without losing the saplings that sometimes drop?
Also just an FYI, there are at least two other plugins on bukkit dev solving this problem, and one of them has lots of fun config options like having trees drop something else from their leaves when you knock them down with a particular item (like a golden axe?). Just something to keep in mind, would love to see some competition around features. :) Otherwise you'll all three end up with the same plugin and 2/3 of the work will have been for nought.
To all in question, this plugin works exactly as it's supposed to! Even deformed trees, they get chopped up too. Just confirmed it to be working with build 1530, flawlessly.
Nothing much needed to be said, good job Waizujin, for stripping down ChopTree and making it usable once again :)
@Waizujin
Can't wait! :))
EDIT: Tested with bukkit 1531 and it works perfectly! Amazing addition to the server ! :) Thank you!
@baounii
Well, I can release it now, but McMMO may not be working 100%. I will go ahead and release it anyway. Sorry for the delay.
When is the 0.3 version comming? I really want this for minecraft 1.0.0 been checking this thread for days now but still no update D:!
Version 0.3 is still in testing, and 0.4 has working world guard protection. I will go ahead and add a /tf or /treefeller toggle command to 0.4.
@rtatum
Thanks for testing. I did something like that myself but it didn't for me. So I guess it just depends on how it is built. I will see what I can do. :)
I did a quick test where I made a big house with some leaves on top around the roof, you know, like a giant treehouse type thing, and it definitely chopped the whole thing down, so I think people building giant trees need a toggle :o
And I understand it's new and stuff, just saying.
This should work on JUST trees, not houses. I will see what I can do at checking my algorithm and also into the commands.
It's a new program so give me time.
This plugin absolutely needs a toggle command ASAP so that people don't accidentally treefell a big treehouse or whatever. I can't really see this being used until a simple toggle command is put in. ChopTree had /togglechop or /tc for players to turn it off to do precise chopping, this needs the same.
@zddv
Well, this supports the Bukkit Permissions system. I am not sure if it will work for PEX or not. I can give it a try though sometime. Just kinda busy on getting World Guard integration in there so it can be used on one of the servers I play on, lol. :P
Is there PEX support for this plugin? if there is, it would be PERFECT "in my eyes though"
Tested my plugin on bucket #1502 and it works! Just going to add World Guard Integration then release it for you guys! :D
