Tree Feller
Tree Feller v1.2
Last updated January 8, 2014
General
TreeFeller is a plugin that allows you to harvest trees at a much faster rate. It allows you to break the bottom most block of a tree which will "fell" the tree. It has multiple modes allowing for simple tree trunk felling all the way to destroying an entire forest.
Usage
You can chop an entire tree down by sneaking / standing (depending on your config) and using an axe (or any item you choose to put in the config) to cut the lowest block the tree.
This plugin supports mode switching. For example, if you have the permissions
treefeller.use treefeller.mode.full
It will default to classic, but you can switch your mode with commands. Check out the commands for more info.

Future Update
- Log blocks with logblock
Well I've tried everything I can think of to get this working but no luck...I have both bpermissions and vault installed and I've copied my permissions file in multiple locations in my server ftp. It shows up as being listed but it just doesn't work at all :\
Note: I know very little about permissions.
@FlukiestEmperor
I figured it out. Apparently the permissions file in the plugin's root directory does not control the permissions. The one in the world folder in the plugin's directory does.
@nickenzi
This plugin should work with most major permissions plugins. Could you post your permissions file to paste bin so I can look at it? Also, is your configuration set where you need to sneak to chop a tree? If so, are you sneaking?
Hello,
I'm attempting to use this on a 1.4.7 craftbukkit server. The mod loads perfectly fine, however I cannot seem to use it. I am using bpermissions to manage my permissions. Can Tree Feller pull from there or does it need permissions in the default permissions.yml
Thanks,
Nick
@SP_S6
Assume it works with the latest minecraft version. There is nothing I'm using from Bukkit that will suddenly change anytime soon.
Besides, why ask when it will literally take about 30 seconds for you to test yourself?
Does this work ok with 1.4.7?
@yamar35
Yes, that can easily be done. I'll work on that tomorrow.
Could a config option be added for maximum blocks removed per swing? I clicked in a jungle and now I have a very empty plains biome... About 3,000 entities were left when I did a worldedit purge, and that's after two players filled their inventories.
Thanks, - Yamar
@Ibu25
Can you post your tree feller configuration file along with your permissions file to pastebin? Also, what permission plugin are you using?
And to turn off the need to sneak, just change the only thing in the configuration file related to sneaking to false.
Its not working for me. I checked the config and it said sneak was true so I sneaked while chopping and it still did not work. Im using a wooden axe and the config says it can be a wooden axe. I went to the permissions.yml file and typed in TreeFeller.use. It still did not work. Can you tell me what im doing wrong? Plus how do you turn off sneaking to chop down the trees?
Edit: I deleted the TreeFeller from the plugin folder and downloaded the last one and it worked. I think I was doing the permission wrong so can you please explain that to me.
@Neotician
The next development version I've made uses permissions. So as soon as I get to my laptop I can push the update to here.
Edit: what I was planning to do with permissions was use it to determine the mode instead of a global mode in the config. So once I get that done I'll push the update. Shouldn't take more than a few minutes once I get to my computer.
Edit 2: Alright, I have uploaded the next version for review. You can download it from here http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/tree-feller/files/6-1-1-b2/ to bypass the review process plugins have to go through.
This plugin is exactly what i need, though i will need permission nodes before it serves the purpose :/
Any ETA? :)
@Claustric
Yes, this problem is due to sideways logs having a different data value. The purpose of me putting data values in the config file was for this very reason. Instead of storing something like that in the code, and waiting on me to update it, you could add the data values yourself. In the next few days I suppose I will update this plugin with the data values of sideways logs so you do not have to figure out what values you need to add yourselves.
@DeVilDeMonde
This plugin should handle all types of leaves unless your config file is wrong. This plugin destroys the blocks determined in the config.
EDIT: Dec 22
I got around to updating the ID's today. Turns out I had the ID for the leaves wrong, sorry about that. The config page has the new ID's and I will be submitting an update today. The only change in it will be the config file.
I still have the issue where this doesn't touch logs facing different directions and leaves other than oak.
@FlukiestEmperor
Ah, thanks for the reply. However, unfortunately I'm having an issue. I'm not sure if it's your plugin or not, and I think it might not be, but just a thought... I'm not sure if the position a log is in changes the data value somehow, but I've been using full-noleaves as a test (which still worked, so I wasn't sure), and ran into a problem. Sideways logs used as branches aren't destroyed, so the entire tree doesn't get taken down. It essentially acts the same as classic. Is there any way to fix this? Just wondering.
Thanks for the plugin though, it's greatly appreciated. My community wanted something like this, and I'm glad someone kept the concept up to date. Keep up the good work.~
@Claustric
It does support modes. I haven't actually updated the main page with information, sadly. The modes act the same as they do in the Timber bukkit mod, as my mod was modeled after it.
The modes are
- classic
- classic-leaves
- full
- full-noleaves
I'm assuming this is based around the original TreeFeller, TreeAssist, and Timber plugins. However, I'm wondering something. In your config.yml, it has a "mode" parameter. Does this plugin actually support other modes, or is this just preemptive?
@Mullinx
I suppose I should add permissions as it would at least be one measure of anti-grief. I should also add a reload command.
I also need to update the main page so it's more helpful.
Nice Mod, works fine under Bukkit.
Permissions would be nice if you want to add them.
@Liricheskii
Sure, do you have anything in mind for anti-grief? The only thing I can think of is the use of permissions to allow only trusted members. Do you use WorldGuard on your server? I suppose I could write this plugin to work with that. It's the only thing I can think of.
