SimpleCaptcha is as advertised, a simple CAPTCHA plugin for your bukkit server.
Upon the user's first message or command (should they not be OP or have permission) they will be asked to enter a 5 digit (alphanumeric) message, the length of the message is configurable.
That's basically it, now why would this be useful you say? First of all, it makes spamming more difficult... Not quite the reason I wrote it though, pwnage tool is the primary reason.
Ever had your server spammed by bots that continuously join and spam? With this plugin they won't be able to spam as they are unable to successfully complete the CAPTCHA.
Features
Stop bots from spamming your server (as long as they are actual bots).
Make spamming in general more of a hassle!

I am aware of that, BUT. If they already go to such means as to pre-program their bots to accomodate for the captcha, then they will get through pretty much one way or another.
One way it could be done was to send it a question that it then needs to answer, but if someone is a target of such spamming, surely they could add an answer for every question.

I suppose this is a possibility. Are you thinking about using symbols as opposed to letters? There's not a huge need for this, it only makes it more difficult for the players, it already stops bots that aren't player controlled (by player controlled I mean players who type in the captcha, then set the bot to spam).

Like I said in a private message. It will only check it once per user, as long as the server has not restarted they will no longer have to go through checks. Not that the checks are slow in any stretch of the imagination.

Posted Aug 6, 2012Would be cool, if we could customize it more. Language of the info, length of the captcha, colors, choose if alphanumeric or just numbers/letters, case-sensitive on/off, and maybe we can give a wordlist with words (who guessed? a wordlist WITH words... Wow. I am a genius) which are used instead of the captcha. Of course this wouldn't be so safe like random alphanumerics, but whioch hacked client has a dictionary attack? :D
