ServerBackup
ServerBackup
ServerBackup is a highly useful plugin that allows you to back up your entire server and upload it to FTP if you want.
What ServerBackup Does
When the backup task runs, it creates a zip file in the backup directory of your server's root folder and adds every file and folder from your server to it. If you enable FTP and specify working information, it will upload the zip file to the specified FTP server for even more secure backup.
Manual Backup
You can also backup your server manually with the /backup command. This command requires the permission node serverbackup.cmd to use. The permission is defaulted to op.
Configuration
interval | Change the interval of automatic backup (in minutes). |
verbose | If true, every file added to the backup will be logged to the console. |
skip | A list of file/folder names to ignore. NOTE: If, for example, you type config.yml, ALL files named config.yml will be ignored. |
ftp | Set use to true and fill in all of your FTP info here if you want to use FTP. |
Hey PogoStick29 or Noah,
Your plugin (ServerBackup) does actually not work (As you already know). If i may a suggestion, you can better remove the plugin from the BukkitDev.
Because two reasons: - ServerBackup Release 1.1 is not working by a severe bug. - ServerBackup Release 1.0 is outdated.
Greeting, Ronald
How's the fix progressing on 1.1? I'd love to be able to backup via FTP because my MC server has limited CPU resources but my other server has oodles of processing, so I could run over viewer nightly.
Some config options I would love to see: 1. Delete the backup when finished uploading to FTP 2. Language file 3. Ability to give permission to people to see the starting backup message.
Thanks!
Also, I don't like how console spammy this is. A config option for that would be neat but not needed. Thanks! :D
can there be a limit of how many backups it keep on the server? I dont use those ftp options, but this can crowd up a server quickly
does 1.0 work with minecraft 1.5.2?
Could you add a option that if the location backup.zip is taken at the server, that it makes backup1.zip , backup2.zip , etc? thats the only thing i need to mention :)
Cannot work on 1.5.1 now?
How do you restore?
A couple suggestions:
If you have FTP enabled, make the plugin remove the local backup. There is a reason it's using FTP (Limited Disk Space on local machine).
/reload command, to reload the config from in game, please.
Pogo
When do you think you will have 1.1 fixed?

Sorry guys, been super busy. I'll add a config value for how many to save.
@ManBeastPigDev
It won't stop saving backups, and doesn't delete old ones. Move old backups to your home pc storage or just delete them.
Still waiting on this Pogo.
how many will it keep?
its already filled a lot of my 32gb disk space.
Well before you post the next version, I want to suggest the backups being in an unzipped folder. This might not be an issue for a vanilla server, but I can't archive my Feed The Beast backups when the zip is gb+
Still working on that bug?
@Tsugaga
Oh no! I forgot to fix a bug! Version 1.1 is unstable so I will remove it and post a fixed version.
@PogoStick29
...Well...It started backing up and I had to remove it because it created a normal 600mb backup but it also created 2 30gb backups.
@Tsugaga
I'll add multiple backups and fix the other problems.
EDIT: Done! Waiting for 1.1 to be approved!
Added this since MineBackup doesn't work with 1.4.7. Only problem is that this only saves 1 backup, so lets say my server gets destroyed, files erased etc, what happens? ServerBackup will save over the pre-destruction backup and now the whole purpose of this plugin is defeated. I could save the backup to my hdd every day, but why have a plugin if I have to do it myself?
I do like the plugin and it's essential to have backups of everything, so I do hope you will add multiple backups.
EDIT: Also I have verbose set to false but it still logs everything in the console.
