What steps will reproduce the problem?1. Install Runecraft.2. Try to catch a mob.3. Get angry.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?Mob should be caught. Mob is not caught.
What version of the product are you using?3.0.3
Do you have an error log of what happened?...no.
Please provide any additional information below.I get that ovicaptor combined with spawner reassignment is a "problem". There are options, though.
1) Disable spawner reassignment (unless in creative mode).2) Only allow ovicaptor on passive mobs (no golems, no wolves, no spiders, no creepers, no zombies, no skeletons, ...).3) Stop making choices on behalf of server admins, disable it by default, and maybe even give them a (long) list of mobs which, without explicitly enabling them each by name, cannot be caught, even after they get talked into enabling an option they don't bother to understand.
"#3 is rather rude at first glance"
I'm sorry, but installing third party software means you've left the beaten path. Leaving the beaten path is a fantastic way of getting lost and dying of exposure and/or starving to death. If you don't know the forest well enough to find your way back to the path, don't leave it. Similarly, if you can't cope with bukkit plugins and the possibility that they'll screw your world up to the point that you must either revert to before you installed them (you did make a backup, right? RIGHT?) or reset it all, you shouldn't be running a server in the first place, and absolutely not a bukkit server.
Point being, you're overcompensating for your users' idiocy instead of pointing the finger of blame where it rightly belongs, at the stupid users that complain when your software screws up their world by operating as it is designed to operate. Unless you think rooting your phone shouldn't mean you have the power to brick it, you're just crippling your software for no reason.
TL;DR - I'm saying the users that complain about Runecraft "breaking" things are the problem, not the devs that (aberrantly) try to fix what isn't broke to protect people who still need safety scissors.
Just a small comment regarding this ticket, as well as the discussion with the team:
Recall now has a function and feature to be able to move mobs, as well as yourself and other players. This was an added functionality as a replacement for Ovicaptor.
More information will be posted after further discussion.
Thanks.
That "feature" of Recall works for me about 1% of the time. Besides that, it doesn't let you store mobs in eggs in chests in a safe bunker at the bottom of the world, just in case of apocalypse.
I also don't think it actually costs anything, which is kind of weird. Not that a teleporter triggered by a mob stepping on a pressure sensor (my solution for moving mobs around when I first found out that ovicaptor had been removed) costs anything, either.
