Wondering how work is coming along? Check out the github development branch.
Quick description
This plugin optimizes spout and your preferred economy plugin! Using spout I have added 5 physical coins to the game, adding an actual "currency" to it. The 5 coins are: Copper, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. One is available through crafting recipes, which can be read further down the page. The main objective of this plugin is to create a more practical use of economy money. People will now be able to actually steal money from each other, either by finding coins in a chest, or killing a player who is carrying coins. Players can also show off their money if they like, although that probably wouldn't be a smart thing to do on their part. The plugin comes with a few nice features, like a GUI, that I'll be going over in the next section.
Planned for the future
A complete re-write, visit this page to help with the development
Recipes, Screen shots, and change-logs. Oh my!
There are also a few new crafting recipes which I will go over in this section.
In disbelief? Here are some screen shots to prove it :D
If you have any questions just pop on over to the forums section.
will anyone be picking this up?
Its a very nice plugin!!!
I would like to suggest you:
-It will be nice if you can change coins without have to make 2 halfs.
- You can config (config file and/or ingame command) how many coins you got after forge coins from sources. Ex: 5 golds bar will generate 10, 15, 20 gold coins...
- If u got more than 64 coins, automatic convert for the upscale coin. Ex: i got 70 silvers coin, so i will got in my inventory: 60 silver coins and 1 gold coin (if its 10 silver coin for 1 gold coin). Only the most rank coin will duplicate the item.
I think thats all. Sorry for my english.
It will be perfect if u implement this ;)
Thank you very much!
Update?
@Jacob_perry
Well good luck with it :) I really wish I could help but I don't know enough java (I only know some visual basic and the scripting system for the Unreal Development Kit)
Hmmm, I though that might have been the case. I thought I had seen it work before but I wouldn't know. I'll definitely be following the progress on this project :D
@leonn3k
There was at one point another developer who worked this into his shop plugin, but I don't know if it still works. It was called SpoutShops I believe. I was updating it to the latest of everything last night but it turns out some things have been deprecated, and the docs aren't really helpful in finding the appropriate methods to use now, so I've gotta do some studying.
And putting multiple coins into the same slot doesn't work. I had tried that but when crafting it only takes one item from each crafting slot (at least that's how it used to be, the may have changed that since I last tried it)
This is awesome :D It's like what I always envisioned a currency system in Minecraft could be. I am definitely looking forward to this being updated! is it possible that there could be some sort of shop system or a way for this to work with other existing shop systems?
EDIT: Also maybe instead of the half coin system players just have to put 10 of the same coins into the same crafting slot. This way it would be less tedious and players could convert coins up/down tiers in the inventory crafting square.
So after taking a short break from minecraft, I'm back and I see there's still some interest in this, sooo... Lets get straight to it
@pimsserver
I think I understand what you're looking for in the RPG aspect of it, but I don't quite get the "normal world" part, care to elaborate a little? You can inbox me if you'd prefer.
@TheLord1995
I am going to update :)
Additional info: I haven't worked on this in a long while so I don't know if I'll remember everything, I think a total re-write is in order. Plus I've done some more work with MySQL so I can probably get some internal economy working for those that don't have another economy system. I'd like to get the community to give me there input on how this should look/feel/work :) So everyone start firing your ideas my way!! :D
Hay, can you update your plugin for the new version of the Bukkit server??
i want my economy to work with coinz in my rpg, but in the normal world i want it to work with the (boring, normal?) system, is that possible?
@Atspulgs - I'm currently running it on my 1.2.5 R1.0 server
Would this work for the 1.2.5 ? Has anyone tried? I dont want to mess with the plugins atm, it would be great to get an answer to this before i get off my lazy ass.
Cool, ty. And no worries, i dont mean to rush you or anything.

The only way to put your images is to select the "other" button and manual enter the URL's in each box. They will work 32x32, I believe one of the packs included is 32x32 so it should work no problem.
The images revert when the client closes or when the server restarts? If it's when the server restarts there's nothing I can do about that unless I want to persist the url's, and I really don't :P
Right now I'm working on a large project for my server and I'm busy IRL, but I'll try to make some time for this soon. Perhaps I'll add some lines in the config for defaults.
@Jacob_perry
So is there a way for me to use my coin images? Oh and btw, i made them 32x32 for testing purposes (i could remake them 16x16 if need be but, dont want to if i dont have to). Also, be able to keep my coins as the default images for all players on my server. The images of the coins go back to the default after client close or only keeps half the images.
@Noxid3121
I used to to it the way you suggested (Pulling images from within the jar/from the plugin folder) but there's a bug in spout, and the images only loaded half of the time.
The dropbox url's shouldn't be 404ing, I still have them in my public folder. As for the gui issue, I'll look into that sometime this weekend if I get the chance.
How do you use custom textures for the coins? I know that they are pulled from an online source but, where is the source so i can change them? (The URL to drop box I found in the coding gives a "404 not found" error) Also, I've tried to use the in-game /Coinz admin GUI and it wont let me type past the tiny box it gives me.
Is there a way to pull the coin textures straight from a local source using folder paths in place of URLs or something of that nature? Or, just have it pull straight from the Coinz folder located in the plugins folder?
By the way i am only using the coins, not the blocks so i don't think it should conflict with Dynamaps.
@akister
Yes, any plugins that add custom items/blocks require the user to use spoutcraft to see/use
Do you need Spoutcraft for this to work?
@jhs232
I'll PM you to talk more, as I can see this conversation will probably get lengthy :P
I have been looking for a plugin like this for so long time! I have made my own single player mod with 5coins and 3 tickets but i dont know how to turn it into a plugin :( I would like you either to change the plugin in a bit giving it the same 5coins and 3 tickets as i have: Coins: Tree Stone Iron Gold Diamond Tickets: Iron Gold Diamond All of these can be crafted and the coins and tickets have similar crafting patterns. A gold coin is exactly worth 1 tenth of a gold ticket, and so i iron coin of iron ticket and diamond coin of iron ticket. I will post screenshot of the crafting recipe but unfortunately something has gone wrong with my mod in 1.2. If you do not wish to change the plugin; then please help me make my own plugin out of the mod! :D Actually, all i would like was just coins instead of dollars in an economy plugin with chestshops. No need to have such "bank" as you had on the screenshot. Thanks /jhs232
