Pitfall
Version: v2.1.1 Origonal Author: petrifiednightmares
1.14.x dev builds: https://github.com/packet-loss-gaming/Pitfall-2/releases
I have decided to continue the work done by petrifiednightmares (Last online on the bukkit forums as of November 3, 2011). All credit goes to him for the idea behind this amazing plugin, and all credit goes to him for any source prior to version 2.0.
A configurable plugin that allows certain blocks to act as pressure traps. Once a player steps on them, the blocks disappear temporarily causing the victim to tumble into the pit you dug below.
Features:
- Allows the user to create traps with clay (configurable). Building a layer of clay, and then a layer of any material above it will cause it to become a trap. Whenever a supported trigger (listed below) steps on the layer above the clay, both layers will temporarily disappear, plunging the victim into the depths of the abyss you dug below (Or your terrible trap to steal their stuff). After a second, the two layers will reappear, waiting to claim another helpless soul. These trap can be set off by:
- Players
- Mobs
- Items
- Configuration of what block to be used instead of clay.
- Configurable search radius
- Configurable destructive height
- Configurable trap trigger and return delay
- Allows setting up a list of blacklist blocks.
- Post 1.14.x (dev builds):
- These are blocks that will not disappear even if placed above the clay block. Prefix the material name with the "-" character to provide a blacklist exception. All names must be in upper case.
Format:
<MATERIAL>
- These are blocks that will not disappear even if placed above the clay block. Prefix the material name with the "-" character to provide a blacklist exception. All names must be in upper case.
- Pre 1.14.x:
- These are blocks that will not disappear even if placed above the clay block. Use a data value of -1 for all data values. Prefix the material name with the "-" character to provide a blacklist exception.
Format:
<MATERIAL>[:<DAMAGE_VALUE>]
- These are blocks that will not disappear even if placed above the clay block. Use a data value of -1 for all data values. Prefix the material name with the "-" character to provide a blacklist exception.
- Post 1.14.x (dev builds):
Suggested Uses:
- Traps
- Complex Arenas
- Entrances to Dungeons
- Part of a Maze
- Some other cool thing I didn't think of

I would like to note there is a Bukkit Event system based API for developers, it is not yet fully documented but it is functional in Pitfall 1.7. :) Hopefully I'll get some documentation of the API up soon. It allows you to use and listen to the engine, I currently tap it on my server to do some really cool stuff :)
There are likely some breaking changes in the constructors coming soon though... So Pitfall 1.8 could be coming soon with a little bit better API (that is documented), stay tuned :)
Very cool, thanks for your updates!
Major Update within the next few hours :D
@Dark_Arc
Well what do you know, Pitfall 1.5 worked like a charm.
@HavenOfKairos
I am unsure about how to resolve your error. If you would like you can try Pitfall 1.5 and see if it is my new relativity based engine (Which replaces petrified's Location based engine in 1.6). If 1.5 works for you I will closely examin the 1.6 code.
@Dark_Arc
Sorry,was not able to get online until now.
Sadly it did not work. I got the same error as before.
@HavenOfKairos
Really? O.O
I am using Java 7... Hm...
@HavenOfKairos
I just had a thought I might be using Java 7 libraries, let me check that.
I would really want to use this plugin. :(
I am using CB 1.2.5-R1.0 and I am using Pitfall v1.6.
Does this plugin something else for it to work?
@HavenOfKairos
I will investigate this soon. If you could please create a ticket with the full error.
I can not test, the plugin does not load. Am I missing something? "Could not load 'plugins\Pitfall.jar' in folder 'plugins'"
Looks interesting,will test.
999 Downloads :O!!!
@guyag
You can now configure the damage value for the pit item by using pit-item-data: #. When 1.5 comes gets approved anyways :P
@guyag
I was not aware this was an issue. I will start work on allowing my configuration system to read this information as soon as possible, thanks for the information.
Brilliant plugin, love it :D Only thing I would ask is that items can have damage values, i.e. 98:3
@Pandamatak
Great suggestion. I might replace the current redstone feature with this. I really don't like the bricks code. It would be tricky to implement though. This assuming when the current goes high the sandstone falls x ammount of blocks down.
As for 1.2, I did a lot of work prior to the update. Many bigger plugins did not have this luxary however. Thanks for the kind words though :)
I'd love to see a feature where this basically triggers the physics for sandstone on/off (with redstone), because the way it is right now it feels unrealistic (blocks disappearing).
Otherwise, it's a great semi-pvp mod.
Oh, and thanks a bunch for being one of the first to update to 1.2
1.2 out now awaiting approval, adds monsters! :)
