MTape
This simple little super lightweight plugin, (seriously, you won't even notice it) lets you do measurements in minecraft very easily. chose two blocks apart from each other to easily measure lengths, widths, heights...etc.
Very useful for a creative server or any server for when trying to be precise on your buildings, finding out how far apart they're from each other, finding out how many blocks away the next town is, finding out how tall your masterpiece is for the next person that asks you!
Get those sizes right, without having to count the blocks yourself!
To work the magic, I've made this very user friendly set of commands. And if anything just type
/mtape
and it will give you all the info you need to use this plugin.
Commands:
/mtape #display a help menu
/mtape measure # do a measurement in blks (yes, I've made blks a new measurement unit :D)
(aliases)
/mtape ms
/mtape m
/mtape toggle # by default this plugin is deactivated. So use this command to toggle it on/off.
(aliases)
/mtape tg
/mtape t
And that's it!
No configuring, there is no need to! Just download, put in your plugins file and run you server!
This is simple enough and gets the job done. I also tested this like 23 times so i doubt there is anything buggy. But if you find anything, let me know!
actually 1 blks = 1 meter
A Block in Minecraft has the size: 1 x 1 x 1 meter

no update?
@bigscary
your longer name anology makes sense, so I'll change it once I update this plugin. Which will now wait until bukkit updates seeing how minecraft has now fully released.
As for the toggle question, as far as "hurting" goes, it doesn't really hurt it that much for as far as CPU and RAM goes. But what it does do is that if enabled everytime you right click and left click you'll get that notification of a new point being selected. That will outright spam the heck out of your chat box. That's the point to having a toggle.
@RyonikDev
What's the harm in a little longer name? The name is what folks will see in the plugins list here on BukkitDev. If they're looking for a measuring tool, I'm not sure they'll read "MTape" and understand what it stands for. You might get more users with a more descriptive name.
Nevermind about the measurement units, I confused myself. :)
Do you need a toggle? Does it hurt to have the addon on all the time?
@bigscary
M-Tape is "Measuring Tape" for short, its a name so I didn't want to make it too long. as for the renaming of commands, well, yes, something like "measure" would be easier to remember. Adding in aliases doesn't take time at all... So yes, I can do some enhancements to the commands. The units part, blks (blocks) measurement would just give you an integer measurement like 45... By precise you mean a floating value? something like 1.324434 with decimal point? Because that's as precise as it gets. What would be the use of being that precise?
May I suggest a rename to "Measuring Tape", and renaming of commands... I think the below will make it much more user friendly. Thanks tons for the handy plugin!
help:
/measure
admin:
/measure enable
/measure disable
units:
/measure blocks
/measure precise
take measurement:
/measure start
/measure stop
