Configuration:
As of v2.2 MobManagers configuration files consists of three parts- config.yml - Contains settings to enable/disable MobManager components
- Global configs - Contains global configs for each component, located in MobManager/<component>.yml
- World Configs - Contains settings for each component for each world located in MobManager/worlds/<worldname>/<component>.yml
Every config file contains a header block explaining every setting.
When you first install MobManager world and global configs are auto-magically generated. By default only MobManagers Limiter is enabled, configs for abilities are generated if the component is enabled The defaults for the limiter are pretty conservative. So you may wish to increase the limits. If you need help with the config feel free to PM me and I can make one for you :)
Auto-Update Checker
Mobmanager includes a update checker/downloader. It uses this project page to check for new approved builds. The /mm version command can be used to check if a new version is available on bukkit dev. The update checker is enabled by default and can be disabled in config.yml by setting EnableVersionCheck to false The update downloader is disabled by default can be enabled in config.yml by setting EnableAutoUpdater to trueStatistics
MobManager utilises Hidendra's plugin metrics system, which means that the following information is collected and sent to mcstats.org:- A unique identifier
- The server's version of Java
- Whether the server is in offline or online mode
- The plugin's version
- The server's version
- The OS version/name and architecture
- The core count for the CPU
- The number of players online
- The Metrics version
- MobManager components enabled
Opting out of this service can be done by editing plugins/Plugin Metrics/config.yml and changing opt-out to true
Public Test Server
Public test server has been shut down, will try get a new one in the futureAddress: mc.forgenz.com
Note: After joining, type /warp dev
Note: The test server only has the limiter component enabled

@ShadowDog007
new 1.4 version, if I set the DisableWarnings: true, but then use /mm reload, the config gets rewritten back to false (so I'm still seeing them...)
New version of MobManager has been uploaded!
You can download this version here (Or at least you should be able to)
WARNING - This build has not been checked by bukkit dev staff for malicious content.
Note: Thought I should include the warning... Don't want to get banned or anything D:
@ronfkingswanson
Wondering, are the warnings you are getting new? Or have you always gotten them? I did fix one reason for it occurring in v1.3
@ronfkingswanson
Haha, that was the whole idea :)
Just for you, I will add a config option to disable warnings :) Also, I changed the configuration header so it actually says that the value from config.yml is used for that particular setting.
Just making a few finishing touches to the next version then I will upload it here, perhaps to media fire as well, so you can get to it faster :)
@ShadowDog007 ok - you might want to consider a different way of defaulting to the main config, as "-1" is not particularly clear, and it has a different behavior for ground height (being ignored completely is more intuitive for -1)
@ShadowDog007 Is there a way to mute this console message? it's spamming like a third of my console lines. If it's not a serious error, just a notice, and I don't need to worry about it, I'd rather not see it...
More importantly, THANK YOU!!! for making this. We have an ungodly number of mobspawners on our 16km2 map, and nothing else has been so effective at dealing with mobs. This took total mob counts with just 20 players online from 5000 down to 1000 - and because it "frees up" slots for natural spawning mobs, the players actually experience more mobs in general.
@ronfkingswanson
Sorry if it was not explained well enough, if it is an invalid value, such as -1, the value for the same setting in config.yml is used. Also, when ground height is -1 then the underground search distance is totally ignored. I set this as default for Nether and The End because they don't really have 'underground'. Its helpful in normal worlds which have cave systems because you don't usually see monsters that are further than 1-2 chunks away.
@ronfkingswanson
I did this in a few days :p Was focused on getting it working :p I will add this soon.
@ronfkingswanson
That is not 'too' much of a problem. Mobs will just not get spawned around a player if MobManager did not account for their movement into the layer/chunk. Should fix itself when a player moves between chunks or moves up or down, just need to figure out why it is not seeing the movement into the chunk/layer in the first place.
curious - default config had
and the description says "SpawnSearchChunkDistance is the distance in chunks around the spawned mob which MobManager will check for players"
Does -1 mean it's basically infinite (like GroundHeight)? It seems like this setting should be more like 2-3, or am I missing something?
also... could really use a /mm reload command. Tweaking config files is much easier if I don't have to reboot server while everyone's on...
just started using this, getting periodic console messages (in triples):
Next feature will go something like this "Stop mobs from despawning if they have picked up items from players"
Lost a full set of diamond armor >:(
Having trouble thinking of new features to add guys. Please help provide ideas!!!
Looking forward to seeing some more concrete usage statistics :D Can't wait till 1.3 is approved!
Uploaded v1.3a yesterday. The new version comes with a despawner which checks already spawned mobs and removes them if there is no players close enough to them.
v1.3a should provide a much better illusion of having more mobs while still having less. Hopefully it is approved soon :)
Edit: Deleted v1.3a as I found a small bug in it, uploaded a fixed version v1.3b, also added plugin statistics reporting :D
@ronfkingswanson
Sorry, it also limits mobs from spawners, just not from things like mods and spawn eggs
@ShadowDog007
thx - I'm sure that's normally what's desired, but I have a map with a ridiculous amount of mobspawners, and I'm still searching for a way to have the control of this plugin for spawners as well...
@ronfkingswanson
Should only effect Natural spawns,spawns due to breeding and when chickens spawn from thrown eggs.
does this affect mobspawner spawning? or just "natural" spawning rates?
@Zoyer2
The main thing I want is to reduce server lag without actually reducing the number of mobs on the server. After I swapped out my old mod, my server has had about 75% of the mobs as normal, but they are all around you, so it seems like there are actually way more. :D
@Zoyer2
Ehh, thats not really where I want to go with this plugin. Also I don't believe you can do that without hacking into CraftBukkit + Minecraft code. Which would mean that my mod would likely break every time minecraft/bukkit updates.
You should add zombie health and zombie speed, If you are really good, you could do so zombies spawn with different health, like random generated. :)
