LoreLocks is a plugin which allows you to physically secure your chests with chest locks and traps.

Locks
Locks come in 6 difficulties, 1-5 change the cylinder count of the lock and the 6th difficulty makes the lock unpickable, or in other words only the person which has the key can open the lock.
To create a key of a lock simply drop a lockpick on it.
Depending on the difficulty locks have a different amount of cylinders
- Difficulty 1 has 3 cylinders
- Difficulty 2 has 4 cylinders
- Difficulty 3 has 5 cylinders
- Difficulty 4 has 6 cylinders
- Difficulty 5 has 7 cylinders
Then place it in the first slot of the chest (upper left slot) to lock the chest. Make sure to create a key by dropping a lockpick onto the lock before locking the chest if you want to avoid picking your own chest every time.
If you forget to create a key from an unpickable lock ask an admin for help, he can bypass the lock and open the chest for you.
Traps
Traps are items which will secure your chest even more, to add a trap to a chest place it in the second slot, right next to the lock.
They are triggered when a player fails to pick the chest, i.E. whenever he clicks the wrong cylinder and the lock gets reset.
Types of traps
The damage trap
Damage traps damage the player which is trying to pick the lock every time he fails to pick the right cylinder. Power determines the amount of hearts (not half hearts) which are taken away.
The explosive trap
Explosive traps create an explosion on the location of the player failing to pick the lock. The explosion does not damage any blocks. For the power of explosive traps check this wiki article.
The poison trap
Poison traps apply the poison potion effect to the player failing, the power attribute determines the level of the poison effect.
The power attribute ranges from 1-127.

Hmmm I'll check that and look what I'll get. Do other plugins also crash with this craftbukkit version for you?
Could you allow locking droppers and dispensers as well with the locks?
I'd like to use droppers as "safes" in my public bank and like the locks to work for them. I'd hate having to use chests or get a separate lock plugin just because of this.
Maybe also allow locking trapdoors the same way as doors?

This is currently intentional. I'll add protection for the block below the door, not sure when I'll implement it but it will definitly be added. As the plugin was first intended to be used mainly on full roleplaying servers this is an issue which I haven't first thought of dealing with.
I'll check if the lock gets dropped (should be dropped) and fix that if it's not dropping.
I love you plugin but found a bug when you destroy the block under the door the door will brake whithout ussing a lockpick

I've found the issue and I'm working on it for a few days now. It's kind of hard to fix for me and I'm not sure why it worked in my test before uploading.

I'm using Craftbukkit Dev 1.7.5-R0.1
This is what happens when I try to open the doors:
@xXBondc007Xx What version of minecraft/bukkit are you using? In my tests before upload the doors opened just fine. I changed the way to open doors to a newer system (which could in the worst case not be supported by your current craftbukkit version) to get rid of deprecated code.

I added this plugin to my server islandwarfare.net and I love it :p I did change the way each lock is crafted and this plugin fits the server great, thanks for the plugin
Is it possible to lockpick doors? I am able to lock them fine, however when I complete the lockpicking, the door will not open.

Thank you for your reply.
I followed the instructions you gave me and I am able to hand out an Item (blazerod) with the Name Schluessel (=German für key I changed that in config) and the lore with the identifier. I did name it like a normal crafted key on purpose for testing.
Sad thing: It does not open the lock =( Quests can hand out an Item with Name and Lore, but it does not open the lock. In fact if I compare the working key with the "Questgiven" Key they look identical. See this screenshot. Slot 0 is the given Key and Slot 2 is the crafted key.
EDIT: Funny thing btw: I can stack both keys. The working one and the crafted one seem to be equal for Minecraft oO

It is a bit more complicated to generate keys from another plugin but it's kinda like this.
Here the steps how to do it:

The line you got starts with "§0#§k" followed by some numbers and ends with "§r"
This is the identificator of the key, this identificator needs to be one line of the lore, it can be at the start, at the end or even in between other lines.
So you can make add a line of text saying "It opens the doors to Justice" and add the identificator as next line.

Regarding to THIS Page it is possible to hand out items with a custom Lore and Name. So you are saying, I can hand out a stick with the name "Key to Policestation" and the Lore "It opens the doors to Justice" and it will open the doors? Is this opening EVERY door then?

Problem #1: You could change your serverrules and allow stealing (or maybe if you don't want to be too hard allow stealing from unprotected chests ;) ). After some time there WILL be players trying to steal and the other players will start using locks.
Problem #2: I haven't used Quests yet, generally it will work when you can add an item with custom name and lore as quest reward.
Keys are generally only items with a custom lore (even the name is not important).

I am using your Plugin for a couple of months now and it is great! I just got a few Problems with "handling" it and I am hoping you can help me with some tips:
First Problem: Nobody uses locks =( Either they do not know about locks or they are to lazy to create them. Do you have an idea, how I can force my players to use locks? The only idea I have is to sneak round their houses and doing grand theft chest ;)
Second Problem: I do have a Questsystem on my Server (Plugin is called Quests). Is there any way to give keys for doors as a reward? That would make Quests possible where you can get an Policemen or Reward Players with horses etc
Please help me, it would be very sad if I would have to dump your great Plugin because of this two Problems =(
