Horse Protect
Love your horses but griefers keep on coming on to kill them? Horse Protect prevents that! Horse Protect makes it so people cannot hurt your horse. You can even optionally reflect the damage back to the attacker!
NOTE
This plugin will _*NOT*_ work until Bukkit provide complete 1.6 API for horses... Just registering and starting to throw code on github so we can have it ready ASAP.
Setup
- Drop HorseProtect.jar into your plugins folder.
- Restart server.
Permissions
| Permission | Default | Description |
| horseprotect.protecthorses | false | Whether or not to protect this user/group's horses |
| horseprotect.reflectdamages | false | Whether or not to reflect damage back to the attackers |
Update
2013-07-01 - 1.6.1 Dev build is out. Horse API is currently in an UNDESIRABLE state as Bukkit currently does not consider Horse to be tameable like Wolves. As result of that, there is as of yet, no way to identify ownership, or if the Horse is owned. Once this change is made, I will be able to continue preparing this plugin for the mass.

Posted May 19, 2014I have HorseProtect on my server running 1.7.2. I would like to know if there's any set paramaters I can do to allow all the players on my server not just OPs to use the horseprotect commands?

Posted Jul 3, 2013I have a great idea for this plugin. It kind of works like lockette. When ever someone puts a saddle on the horse it will protect from other players stealing it and killing it, if say someone wanted to sell the horse to an other player the owner would have to remove the saddle and the buy would add a saddle to the horse.

why don't you make your own ownership to whomever puts the saddle on it last?
maybe lock the horse from other people putting the saddle on after the first?

Pending/Hoping for some Bukkit API change on Horse right now. They're not tameable like Wolves, so there is no ownership over them, which makes things a little bit more tricky. I'm a bit over booked this up coming month and a half, so I can only check back during weekends and evenings. I will update this for the masses as soon as I can, after changes have been made.

Faldonboy is absolutely correct. In fact, most of the code is ready, with minimal testing, done using Wolf's code. There are still some limitations such as figuring out permissions after server restart, w/o player logging in, but I think I can work around that... But the goal of the plugin place holder is so I can do some search and replace when 1.6 comes out, so people can protect their horses as soon as possible.

I can look into a permission system, however it depends on when and what API are made available for Bukkit. I am not keen on side-ways-hacking NMS code to add features that breaks between releases.
