HelperBot
DO NOT WORK! - Please do not download!
This is the successor of StickyHelp.
This simple help plugin will read from a text file and HTTP, and output the contents on the screen.
It supports the &(0-9a-f)
color codes.
TRY THE 2.2 BETA!!!
It's got the &k color code, shortcodes, custom permissions, multiword pages, language files and more!
(The download is broken so just rename whatever file you get to HelperBot.jar)
Current Version: 2.1
Downloads
How to install
- Download the .jar file
- Put it in your
plugins/
folder - Start the server, or reload if it's already running
Commands
- /help <page>
- Shows help
- /addhelp <page> <content>
- Adds <page> with <content> in it (newline character configured in config.yml, default is "/n/")
- /delhelp <page>
- Deletes <page>
How to use
Tags
- [url]<url>
- Downloads a file from the web and replaces the tag with the source/content of the file downloaded
Color Code Cheat Sheet
(Replace # with &)
Permissions
- helperbot.help
- Can read ALL help files
- helperbot.help.<page>
- Can read specified page.
NOTE: Doing helperbot.help and then -helperbot.help.<page> will NOT work because helperbot.help overrides everything else. Do helperbot.help.* and then -helperbot.help.<page>.
- helperbot.addhelp
- Can create help file
- helperbot.delhelp
- Can remove help file
Permissions Plugins
Works with any SuperPerms-compatible plugins. I recommend PermissionsEx.
Changing command
In case you want another plugin to have the /help command (or other commands), and have HelperBot have another command, you can to this:
DOESN'T WORK AS OF 2.0, KEPT THIS AS REFERENCE IF YOU USE OLDER VERSIONS
- Rename
HelperBot.jar
toHelperBot.zip
- Open the .zip file
- Open plugin.yml with Notepad
- Add a command under the
aliases
section of the command - Save plugin.yml
- Rename
HelperBot.zip
toHelperBot.jar
@Hol7y96
Works perfectly fine here.
@DHLF
What's the point of that comment? Just a thank you or do you have an issue? I don't really understand...
Hi, the link for 2.2 doesn't work. Could you fix this please
Thank you for your efforts with this plugin! I used it since november 2011 and was really happy with it!
Could it be that your plugin moved somehow into the last CraftBukkit-dev version? In spite of the new inbuild help support your plugin is very useful.
Keeping the inbuild /help for commands and using your plugin for other topics seems quite good to me as the first one is really FULL with commands ;)
Jenkins closed because of downtime.
Try the HelperBot 2.2 beta! Now hosted on Dropbox!
@raoulster
Get PermissionsEx
@chlitto
Yeah, will do.
@Schlumpf9
Go open Essentials.jar with your WinRAR stuff or whatever you use to open .jar files (actually it's just a .zip with another extension), open plugin.yml and under commands find help and delete it. Then restart the server.
@raoulster
Get a Permissions system then :)
For some reason on my server, all non ops cant see anything when they do /help it just returns with unkown command. I am not using any permissions system, could this be why?
hmm, This Plugin looks very nice, but I have a problem! When I use this Plugin togheter with Essentials the help messages aren't shown. If I type in /help nothing appears, if I delete Essentials and type /help I can see it, but I can't delte Essentials, I need it. Is there a way to fix this?
could you add the 'k' color from the end credits?
@Delocaz
Thanks for your feedback! Then you also tricked me :) Noticed yesterday that PermissionsBukkit wasn't working properly (for 1.2.3)
Regards, John
Just want to say thanks for this plugin. :)
@JohnPulse
You SURE the permissions are alright? Because i put that message as the no permissions message to "trick" the user.
@kilorat2
Yeah, i figured. It's sometimes uo, sometimes down. I should REALLY get a VPS.
Hello,
On cb2034 with HB2.1, I get the message "Unknown command. Type "help" for help" when I use /help The permissions is OK. Can you help me find what's wrong?
Thanks!
On the off chance its not known, the download site is still down.
@ImHackinBored
Well, it was down for maintenance (aka. i shut it down so it didn't overheat and catch on fire). It's up now.
@Delocaz
I haven't been able to try. Your link is either broken or the host is too slow. I can't get to your jenkins builds for some reason.
@ImHackinBored
Try with HB#7.
So you know I can't get the helperbot.help.<page> to work with PermissionsBukkit. I just had to give everyone helper.help for it to work at all btu everyone can view every page ofc. =/
If you're having trouble accessing Jenkins, that's because the network cable for the server was loose. I taped it together today :)
