FactionChat
In the most recent versions of the oh so popular Factions (1.7 and above), you may have noticed that the faction chat feature was removed. Faction chat really comes in handy at times to easily talk with whole groups, whether you're planning with your allies to take down that faction you just hate that or discussing top secret plans with your clan. This plugin is there to fill in that gap and bring back this high demand feature, aiming to replicate what has now been removed from Factions.
The author of FactionChat is constantly updating to make sure that FactionChat is designed to work without any bugs and function at top-notch performance out-of-the-box.
Features.
- Faction-only, ally, truce and enemy chat modes
- Send a message to other factions, even if you're not allies with them
- Staff chat channels
- Ability to spy on all messages
- Easy to use chat-mode toggles/commands

I have spent many hours creating and perfecting this plugin for public use, and I expect many more hours still to come through updating and adding features requested by the community. You can even spare a buck or two, after all, every little bit helps! If you are unable to donate, it would still be awesome if you could let me know how the plugin is working for you and leave a thanks in the comments section.

Author debug access.
In the v1.5 update, I have added a new config option called "AllowAuthorDebugAccess". If set to true and your server is running in online-mode, then it allows me, james137137, to use the follow commands: /fchatother, /fc jrmod, /fc mod, /fc srmod, /fc jradmin, /fc admin, /fc spy, /fc update, and /fc reload. Please note that this does not give me the ability to use any other commands. You may never even need to enable this, unless you personally need help and have invited me to test something for/with you. This feature is enabled by default, however it can easily be toggled through the configuration.
MCStats.
This plugin utilizes Hidendra's metrics system in order to keep track of the plugin's popularity, as well as other metadata. The following information is collected and sent to mcstats.org:
- Unique identifier
- Java version
- Offline/online mode
- FactionChat version
- Server version (i.e. Bukkit 1.6.4, Spigot 1.7.2)
- OS name, version and architecture
- Amount of CPU cores
- Amount of players online
- Metrics version
Opting out of this service can be done by editing the config.yml and changing MetricsOptOut to true.
Inbuilt Updater
This plugin utilizes an external version checking system, which means that the plugin makes a connection to curseforge.com and the following may occur:
- The plugins version checked
- Downloading of the plugin files
The update can only occur when a player with permission "FactionChat.Update" runs the command "/fc update" or any /FactionChat alias with "update".
FactionChat is a stable plugin that is used by about 1,400 servers worldwide; that's a lot! Thanks to everyone who make this happen.

@LoLPoseidon
what do you mean: forced?
@james137137
Is there a way to make it so that members aren't forced to use Factions Chat on login? I use Hyperchat as my main communication plugin.
@danielfr789
done. sorry for the delay. been quite busy at uni (see http://anderson.lolnet.co.nz:8081/job/FactionChat/)
@agligorijevic1998
what do you mean messed up?
Config is completly messed up with newest version of spigot 1.8
Did you see my post? Would be nice to see it added :D
@james137137
How is the AuthMe process going? Sorry for asking too much ^^
Please make it compatible with chatcontrol, lots of people use it
@james137137
No, chatcontrol does not edit the message at all, unless the chat mode is set to public.
It also has a log file that logs all chat messages and messages from factionchats don't get logged there either... it just can't seem to access anything from factionchats.
@ceruleanReverie
hi ceruleanReverie
I assume ChatControl would either change the message or cancel it.
on any of the ChatEvents my plugin will always if the event is cancelled if it has been requested to be cancelled then it won't trigger
It will only cancel the event if the player's chatmode is not "public" but this check will only happen if its not cancelled by another plugin before FactionChat. I will keep this in mind and check it over for you
How is ChatControl Handling the chat event? is it editing the message?
@OmegaGenesis
That is how it should be. Player will receive chat without having to go /fc f or /fc a etc. The chat modes are only for sending not receiving. I think leader chat might only be the exception to this rule. Have another test and If this isn't working for you let me know
@james137137
Example: Players that have a title will have a - at the end of their title and players without a title will just have their name.
Is there a way to make it so a player can still receive messages from Faction/Ally/Enemy chat even if they have their chat on Public? It can be annoying if you're trying to talk in public but cant see if someone in your faction is talking to you and vice versa. Thanks!
@james137137
Sure I will. Send me a link :)
Hello! I didn't see any place to submit tickets, so I hope it is ok to ask questions in the comments here.
I use this plugin on my server, and it works great for me, however there is a big downside and that is that it is technically incompatible with the chat management plugin I use. Not for chat formatting, I actually use it for its word filter, of which it is very good at. (I just use essentialschat for formatting)
The plugin is ChatControl. Both plugins work fine, however, ChatControl cannot pick up chat events when a player is talking in faction chat, so my players can actually bypass the word filter through this!!! Thankfully no one has really noticed yet, but I really need for this to be fixed...
I already messaged the plugin dev of ChatControl about this, and here is what he said:
"Hey, idk much about how factionschat works. This plugin is simply listening to the AsyncPlayerChatEvent which is triggered when a message is sent by a player. I cannot make it compatible in case the factionschat plugin cancels the event and manually broadcast the player message."
So I have come here to ask if you can push a fix for this somehow? I've tried even changing the priority of chat events in the config file and that did nothing to solve this... Thanks, and again sorry if this was the wrong place to ask!
@danielfr789
sure. could you give me an example?
@saxons12
AuthMe....Yeah I guess I can give that another go... Last time it failed. Anyway would you like to test it for me once I've completed it?
Please disallow viewing faction chat messages if a player is not logged in with AuthMe. API here: https://github.com/Xephi/AuthMeReloaded/tree/master/src/main/java/fr/xephi/authme/api
Very simple implementation. Thanks!
Can you add an option in the config for a title prefix and suffix? If players dont have a title the - thing annoys me.
@gemi69
Thank You gemi69. I appreciate the feedback :D
Hi, I love this plugin, great work :-)
@Theepwner
might be :D . anyway it will work fine now
