Based on the inactive plugin from rigor789 (http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/fun-discoplugin-v0-2-the-woolcolorchanger-1060.23547/) I have edited the source and make this plugin work for the latest build.

WARNING: This is laggy! its not actually possible to reduce the lag i dont think, its as reduced as i can do. It has to be in the main server thread to avoid corruption :/
Original Plugin Information
With this plugin u can make small parties on your server! Just get some wool, type /disco create, place wool on the floor. When you are done type /disco finish, and the party can start just tell every1 to open some music on Youtube Yeah its all disco is done! Enjoy!
Features:
You can make small parties on Your server!
Commands:
- /disco create
- starts the creation of a Disco.
- /disco finish
- finishes the creation of a Disco.
- /disco reset
- resets all Disco's on the server.
- /disco remove
- removes a Disco.
- /disco list
- list's all discos avaiable on the server.

It may be possible by editing the plugin but not too sure, when i was debugging i did it to where it was stable on my system. A year ago when i made it, i had a not so very fast laptop. now i have a high spec machine i may add a configuration option for it in the future. But maybe, i'm not guaranteeing further development on this plugin as it's not originally mine, i simply updated it to the latest version at the time.

Posted Jan 31, 2013with 1.4.6 R01 this plugin works but! after remove command you can remove the wool and then place it back and its this there.
But! it dos work :P
(ps: No lagg with 6GB RAM.)

Yes that is possible, it registers the wool you place so if you place walls aswell as the floor then it works, I tested this also

These are great suggestions, and i shall try and add them at some point. I literally just fixed this plugin so it works for most recent version of bukkit, i am doing alot of development work for my server, including the custom plugin and world development, so i am very busy, but i shall try and add these at some point in the future. I have also put the source up on GitHub so anyone may edit and stuff

Posted May 31, 2012i havent testet it, but maybe this features would make me download:
- configurable speed (of the colour changing)
- commands like "/disco start" and "/disco stop" so that you dont have to remove the disco to stop it
- discos shoudl be toggleable by redstone (or with a sign that you can power with redstone. throught about something like [disco] in the first line an name_of_the_disco in second line)
- the ability to mix wool and glowstone so that youve got a lightshow,too
just some suggestions.
