SoundCenter
SoundCenter - Music, Sound Effects, Webradio and Voice Chat for Minecraft!
Important
Development for SoundCenter is discontinued, but there is a great alternative that I like to recommend: MCJukebox
Version: v0.3
SoundCenter (formerly CustomMusic) allows you to set music boxes or regions that stream your own music, sound effects or webradio to all players in realtime.
It also implements a simple voice chat for Minecraft.
To use the features that SoundCenter offers, you and everyone who wants to hear music and voice chat must download and use the SoundCenter client.
You do not have to download or install anything. The client is running as a java applet on the website. You will get a message with a link to the client when you join the server. When you follow this link, the client will automatically connect. - Could not be easier.
Here's a video that shows how to use the plugin (Thanks to @jithins):
Development discontinued
Unfortunately I will no longer be able to work or give you support on this project. I am sorry that I couldn't implement all your awesome suggestions.
Thank you for almost 5 years of support, criticism, praise and blame ;) You are awesome!
If you are willing to take over this project, feel free to contact me.
Features
- You can set imaginary jukeboxes, cuboid areas or worlds and biomes as music stations
- You can also use WorldGuard regions as stations
- Stations can either play your own music/ sound effects, or webradio streams
- You can use a command or the client to play songs for yourself, all players in a world, or all players on the server
- You can use any supported audio file that is stored on a public webserver. Filehosters like DropBox will work as well.
- Supported audio formats: MP3, for webradio also OGG
- Everything is easily and intuitively managable with the client's user interface
- Every feature is configurable
- You can limit access with permissions
Extra Features:
- Voice chat
- SoundCenter adds a simple voice chat to your Bukkit server
- You can speak locally (only players that are not far from you can hear you. Volume depends on their distance)
- But you can also speak globally (The whole server can hear you)
- You can disable voice chat on your server if you don't like this feature
- many more to come
How does it work?
Okay so I have SoundCenter installed on my server, what can I do now?
It's easy: Before or after logging into Minecraft, run the SoundCenterClient.jar.
Now you can add songs in the "Music" tab, or add stations in the "Stations" tab. Boxes, areas or WorldGuard regions can be created ingame via /sc set <area|box|wgregion>. That's easier, because the box will be created at your coordinates. You can edit all properties of your stations by pressing the "Edit Station" button in the "Stations" tab.

As this plugin always spams the now non-existent url www.sound-center.com, I forked it here on github to remove that. Plugin Jar download there is compatible with the client.
If development for this plugin is truly dead, I think it would be awesome if The Dark Forest and its team could take over development so that such a cool idea doesn't just die away. Any project files would help if you would like to send them: [email protected]
My staff on my server has been looking for some way to play with sounds and such on my server and I figure it would not be a bad idea to keep this project updated if nobody has taken up that development role so that #1 My server can have custom alerts and sounds, #2 This plugin will not just be stuck at Minecraft Bukkit/Spigot 1.7.9, #3 I can improve what should be improved and maintain what should be maintained. Without constant work (as any software engineer knows) a project or software will quickly die and disappear. If you would like that not to happen please contact me if I am the only offer, and I will work dilligently to get this plugin back in a state where it will run properly.
Members of my server did not hear anything, I can just hear
Voice chat dosent work... Music does but voice dosent
It's now almost July and the author has yet to reply to timvango. I wouldn't download this as the author just doesn't seem to care. :/
Do you have any idea when the next update comes which fixes the restart bug? Now I lose all my areas constantly, and my Theme Park server lost his magic, haha.
Hope the fix will be there soon!
I'm getting an error that the client cannot get the I/O for the server. I made sure it's the right ip, checked that the server port and soundcenter ports were both open for tcp/udp. Tried another server i run on a different port. I tried removing the server-ip line in the config.
I can use commands and was able to make boxes, but the client wont connect and then times out.
@CarnageChaos420 @payno4
This is technically not possible, I'm sorry.
Please , WegFetZ , can you try to do it like Carnage discribt it ? :D It would be awsome if you make that possible :D
I really like SoundCenter. It would be nice if you could make it to where I can have the music play as long as my server is online, instead of me having to stay logged in the whole time. Maybe make it to where the applet runs inside of the server folder that way as long as the server is running it will play music without me having to be logged in and running the applet at all times. Thanks!
@carlnorm
There seems to be a bug that can reset the database on a restart. Until I can fix this bug, please try to configure your regions and do a proper server shutdown before starting it again. The data should then be saved.
@FunnyGames Seems like you are not running version 0.301 of the plugin, but version 0.2. Please delete SoundCenter.jar and download v0.301 again. If it doesn't work, please send me your server log.
I don't know when the next version will be ready. I'm still busy with exams for at least two weeks and I will be in holidays afterwards ;) But I promise I will work on it as soon as I get some spare time.
