Clouds
Inspired by The PON-3 Gaming Pony Pack, this plugin generates clouds in the sky for the pegasi (who have the ability to walk on 'clouds' of snow blocks)
Features:
- uses the world seed, so chunks generated later on will be consistent with existing chunks
- saves metadata in the bedrock layer to make sure the clouds aren't re-generated later
- each cloud must be a minimum of 6m from the ground, or it will not be generated in that location
- clouds are anywhere from 1-3 blocks thick, and contain a minimum of 5 blocks
- distributes the clouds within a cloud layer from y = 80 to 200
- disables natural monster spawning on clouds
- "/clouds gen[erate]" to re-generate the clouds in the chunk you are standing in
- (requires "clouds" permission node, op-default)
The parameters for the generator are tricky to work with to get a desired result (I spent over an hour playing with the settings to get something I didn't mind - still not exactly what I was looking for)
Brief Guide to configuration, for those who want to customize their server: Config
Do I have to use the world seed in order for this plugin to work properly?
:O If you're still watching this, I've recently gotten back on the Pony Pack and would love to implement this as an optional feature if you're willing to let me! I will credit you!:)
@WillMillerAK
Not really, it looks cool, it's a fun attatchment, and it's something to explore if you're bored. Before you call someones plugin that they worked hard on pointless, you better rethink it. And considering you don't have any plugins yourself, I wouldnt be judging others.
@WillMillerAK
therefore is necessary! :D
Simply pointless...
Haven't tried 0.6 yet, but I have a quick suggestion, just in case it's not implemented. For absorbing fall damage, make sure that snow blocks placed above the cloud layer (by default y: 80) doesn't have the same effect. Use block metadata to detect if a block is generated by the world or placed by a player (might not persist through restarts, though), use the McMMO method (save relevant chunk info into a new folder in the world), or hook into CoreProtect, LogBlock, or HawkEye (preferably CoreProtect!) to see if the block is generated by the world (wouldn't have any block placement info) or placed by a player.
Ok, is it possible to make this for 1.5.2? I have a server with the Pon-3 Gaming pack, and I just want to have this to go with it, but this is 1.6.1.
@jascotty2
Does it only apply to snow blocks generated by the plugin, or to all snow blocks? It should preferably be the first.
Also, found a bug with SkylandsPlus. Since you store metadata in bedrock, it makes a checker kind of pattern with bedrock in the SkylandsPlus world generation, which doesn't have a bedrock layer.
This plugin applies to only Overworld-type worlds, right? (It might be helpful to add this information for clarification.)
Also, I noticed one of the features states that the plugin saves metadata in the bedrock layer to avoid regeneration of clouds. I'm wondering, how well this plugin would work on a superflat world, seeing as it has only one layer of bedrock?
@CorruptedHelix
added in 0.6 :)
Feature suggestion: Make snow blocks as a whole (or just snow blocks above a set Y coordinate, ideally where clouds will start to spawn) prevent fall damage to the player. Make it configurable, of course. Not everyone will want this.
@MarkiiIeJ
What is your world seed that this causes problems on?
This should not have any affect on ground structures (entire cloud is canceled if it interferes with something)
If you want to fully remove all clouds, you can set noisethreshold in the config to something more than 1, and run "/clouds gen [radius]" where radius = chunks to span
(radius of 20 would run the algorithm on all chunks in a 640-block square centered on your position)
edit: oh, just noticed that that command was in 0.4, which did not seem to make it here..
added config option in 0.5 to limit to defined worlds, and a "/clouds clear [radius]" command to allow removing clouds
How do you remove this? This is such as grief plugin. First off, you cannot remove anything once it 's installed on the designated server. It's in every world, not only that, villages are fucked up. Thanks a lot.
@Zacky1
Added in v0.3 :)
This is so cool.
A cool feature would be to be able to edit the cloud Material type... aka instead of white wool (or snow blocks) be able to put sandstone or something :P
Awesome!
