CityWorld
CityWorld
The great outdoors is all good and fine but sometimes you just want to go to town. Not any town will do, how about one that goes on forever or multiple ones separated by the largest mountains possible in MineCraft. But what is under those mountains? There is an entire world to explore, have fun!
There is a Spigot/Bukkit happy version of CityWorld over at http://www.spigotmc.org/resources/cityworld.2250/. I am not going to be updating the version here on dev.bukkit.com, so go there for the latest.
Version 3.002
More pictures can be found here.
v3.002 (at https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/cityworld.2250/)
- Now supports Minecraft/Spigot 1.9 (or I think it does) and was tested against PI day build of Spigot
- Added an option to turn off things like Hot Air Balloons for folks who don't like fun things in the air ;-)
- Add material lists for astral, bunkers and water towers generation, yes I know there still more to do
- Reduced the likelihood of Museums, sorry about that
- Farms now can grow BeetRoots, Yumm!
- More building and roof styles
- MAYBE ISSUE: It seems to me that Minecraft/Spigot 1.9 causes CityWorld to generate worlds slower, but I could be wrong
- Fixed bugs
v3.001 (at https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/cityworld.2250/)
- Finally got the fossils generating... and Museums :-)
- Fixed a long standing tree generation bug... and added the occasional dead tree trunk
v3.000 (at https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/cityworld.2250/)
- The majority of materials used during building generation are now configurable (lists are maintained in the cityworld's yml file)
- All chest content generation is now configurable (phatloot should still work if you really need it)
- Road material is now configurable, don't like clay... change it
- Added new lot types to world (hot air balloons, water towers, park mazes, barns, etc.)
- Brought over some of the Maze world lots to normal worlds (lumber yards, quarries, camp grounds, etc.)
- Created a way to invert the range generation logic, now you can generate cities that surround a center of nature instead of the other way around
- Lots of refactoring and tweaking, world generation will likely change... sorry but it couldn't be helped
- Fixed a number of bugs that have been bothering me
Personal note
It has been a while, sorry but my day job continues to be a bit crazy and is pretty much taking up all of my time. In this most recent update CityWorld should now work against 1.8.8 to a large degree. Many things have changed with the latest MineCraft and Spigot/CraftBukkit, I would be surprised if no problems are hiding in here somewhere.

Heads up!
This plugin really "tests" MineCraft/Bukkit when it comes to complex worlds. In fact when you spawn/teleport into a new CityWorld (or some wildly new location) it takes a while for all of the blocks to generate. This is especially obvious if you are flying around. Once the blocks are generated though everything works just fine. What I recommend is take a tour of your new world and just walk/fly up to each "uninitialized chunk" until everything shows up.
This is amazing! Just what I needed for my zombie survival city!
@Sabinno
Zombie apocalypse? I guess we'll have to find a way to improved the Zombie AI then! I wonder if Spout could help with that... nah, probably not.
@Sabinno
Thanks for the compliment in the first paragraph :-)
As for the second paragraph... better buildings and such are coming. Now that bukkit has settled down :-) I hope to release the update to the plugin sometime this week.
This is definitely one of the best wgen plugins I've seen thus far! I may use this for a zombie apoc map though =P
The architecture of the buildings though, no offense but a lot of it is just terrible D: I'm hoping in the future we could get a rail system of some sort, like a subway above the plumbing or likely even replace it ^_^
Request: Please update the plugin.yml version number in the latest archive.
You sir, are amazing. Could we have doors to buildings though?
This is a great idea! just wanted to show some support. our server is using this heavily! thanks for the continued progress.
hi this plugun looks epic but i do not understand how to make them genarate PLEASE HELP!!
@Incomitatum
Not yet but it is on the list of things to do. The next update will include a lot more underground, stairs, manholes to crazy places as well as populated parks. Mind you Minecraft is beginning to strain under the weight of the world. :-)
Are there chests scattered through this world?
@RenatoG15
Fab creates large complex objects in Minecraft. As such it might take a while before Minecraft fully reloads all the various chunks and settles down. With that said, Minecraft seems "tuned" to a half filled world (bottom mostly dirt and stuff, the top mostly air), when Fab runs in most worlds it tends to fill up the top part of world (the air bits), this makes the chunks "mostly" filled instead of half filled and Minecraft starts slowing down on smaller systems. (I am speculating here)
Yes, even before you answer already managed to get, but the city could generate normally, but is making a big lag qunado I walk by the buildings. My computer has 3mb of RAM and is not common in Minecraft to lag even when I'm online, of course I will move to a paid host (and I think there will not crash), but I would like to go in fixing up my computer, but is not possible because of the lag.
@RenatoG15
You need to change plugins/WorldEdit/config.yml, not WorldEdit.jar/Defaults/Config.yml (I think that is what you wrote). The config.yml in the WorldEdit jar file isn't used at runtime, only initial install time.
I hope that makes sense.
When I try to run the plugin is saying timed out operation. I've done to change the Config.yml the directory server / Plugins / WorldEdit.jar / Defaults / Config.yml changed from 3000ms to 15000ms. Still time to create goes on to say that the maximum is 3000ms! What to do? Note: I'm not using permissyons system.
Sorry my bad English is not my first language.
@davenger
Cool to hear :-)
Very nice addon. I added it to my server as it's own world, and turned it into a warzone. Makes for a nice urban combat style play :)
@telephonekiosk
Yep, I am just about to send the new version up to GitHub. I gave up on the blockpopulator for this round but sewers, vaults, basements, plumbing maze and a much more diverse building logic made it in. Things that got removed were the stairs (for now) and still no doors :-)
Is the next version almost finished? :)
@telephonekiosk
I will go back to do blockpopulators once I get happy with the building/sewer procedural logic. That is when the interesting blocks (like those for furniture) become possible.
@tankfox
Once I get the sewers back in you will have some nice vaults to explore... heck Diamonds might even be behind one of those bricked up walls... mind you it could also be lava :-)
