ChatNanny
Simple server plugin that will block chat messages that contain too many capital letters.
There are two configuration settings (in config.yml
) that control the limits:
max-caps
- the maximum number of capital letters allowed (default is 10)max-percent
- the percentage of capital letters allowed in the message (default is 75)
Note that both settings always apply the limits allowed. However, if you don't want to restrict the number of capital letters, set the max-caps
to a large number, such as 1000. Likewise, if you don't want to restrict capital letters by percentage, set max-percent
to 100.
You may also change the message that is displayed to a user when they reach the limit:
message: Message not sent! Too many CAPITAL letters!
The source is in the jar file.
Feel free to comment and/or make suggestions.
Hi I also have a plugin called CapsGuard This is in beta stage and has many more features and is updated frequently

Hey Guys I was just spending some time reading into plugins and I found this, You guys may not be aware but there is an existing plugin that still works with the latest RB (albeit quite old) called bAntiCaps That I have been using for some time and It works really well. It can be confgured to replace the users message with a randomly chosen one from a predefined list. I tend to make the replacement sentences quite embarressing for the player. This feature is great but has one draw back, People will sometimes use the anti-caps to spam and the anti-spam plugins don't pick it up that they are abusing anti-caps. If an implementation like bAnticaps can be made, only for it replace a single sentence per minute (and not display multiple random messages) this woudl be helpful.
The old plugin might give you some ideas. The good thing is chat plugins don't generally get broken by new releases. I look forware to seeing an initial release!

That's a good idea. I created this plugin because I saw so many mods on a server that spent their time telling people not to use caps. However, I wasn't sure of the best algorithm to use, so I started with the percentage idea.
I'll add an option for using a fix number of capital letters instead of the percentage.
Yes Finally!! Thank you for finally making a plugin that can control caps! Can i recommend that instead of a percentage you set it by amount of capital letters in a row though?
