BukkitLightLevel
BukkitLightLevel
This plugin can be very helpful for lighting up an area to prevent mobs from spawning.
With this plugin, a user simply has to hold a torch (or other light-emitting material) and particles will appear on nearby blocks showing relative light levels. Red particles indicate a light level of 7 or below, and such blocks are spawnable for most mob types.
The radius can be configured in config.yaml:
# Setting these to 0 will disable the plugin
sneak-radius: 8
standing-radius: 6
The max sneak-radius is 16 and the max standing-radius is 8. This is meant to cap the server lag that could be created when there are many players online.
Been really hoping to find a plugin like this that works in 1.16.5 to light up our village and keep the villagers safe.
Only problem is I can't get it to work. I downloaded the latest jar from Multicraft and it's placed in the right folder, but I'm not seeing the particles when I crouch or stand with a torch. I thought maybe it was because there was no config.yml so I downloaded that and placed it in a folder in the plugins folder, but that doesn't seem to work either.
I'd really like this to work, it's one of the most useful plugins I can think of. Thanks for taking the time out to make it!

It may be your particle effects setting. Also, if you are using any shaders or texture packs, maybe try disabling those and go with defaults. Let me know if this ends up being the cause.

Hey, thanks for the reply, we transfered our server to Spigot for Vivecraft compatibility and I found a plugin called Eternal Light that does about the same thing.
I think the problem was that it never created a config.yml file or folder for the plugin.
Thanks for your time!
Been looking for a plugin to do this! :D
I can't activate it tho, the on/off commands are not recognized in the console or ingame

Thanks, I'll look into it. Also considering saving an "enabled" setting in the config.yml, so it will remember you had it turned on after a server restart.

There haven't been created a config.yml file for the plugin when i try to look in my servers plugin directory though, dunno what causes my issue :i
Don't really got any other plugins that could interfere.

Is there an error when you try to use the on/off commands? The problem may simply be that they are silent. You need to be holding a torch and sneak to see the effect.
In reply to Skurq:
Perhaps I should make the sneaking a configurable option. So if that option is off, all you have to do is be holding a light source and the effect is always active.
