BuildingContest
This is an easy to use plugin to manage building contests. You can use it in different ways, such as creative or survival building, and with different land management systems.
This plugin doesn't do any kind of land/plot managing itself; you do that with another plugin, such as PlotMe, WorldGuard, Factions, Towny, Grief Prevention, etc.. What this plugin does, basically, is it allows you to manage and organize contests on your server, and your players to submit what they have built.
I have made this plugin originally for my server, because we wanted to have creative building contests on the server, using PlotMe for the land management. I couldn't find something that suited what we wanted (compatible with PlotMe, easy-to-use and basic, but also with enough features), and so I decided to make it myself. After running it on the server a while, I decided to make it public.
For a list of commands or permissions, click the buttons above. For general instructions on how to use the plugin, press FAQ button above. There is a page with a list of servers using this plugin. If you want your server in there, comment on the "Server List" page (there is a button above).
Features:
- Organize contests
- Set contest topic
- Set contest status ("No current contest", "Contest open for submissions", "Contest being reviewed")
- Set a timer for the contest
- Users can submit or resubmit to the contest if the status is "Contest open for submissions"
- Staff can teleport to random submission
- Staff can vote for a submission from 1 to 10 if the status is "Contest being reviewed"
- First place is calculated from the average of votes
- Submissions can be deleted (and it is written into a log when someone deletes)
Bugs/Problems:
- Server downtime will cause a delay in the timer
- If your server has less than 20 ticks per second, there might be a small delay in the timer
Upcoming Features:
- A scoreboard wall made of signs
@Burockk
Okay, I will be looking into it.
Update plugin pls to 1.7.9 or 1.7.10 spigot doesnt work perfectly when type /review random
Sorry for the incredibly long delay about updates, I have been increasingly busy. I'm going to try to update all my public plugins sometime.
@GodsDead
I haven't been able to work on them yet, as I've been busy. I will work on them, but I am not certain when.
How we looking for some bug fixes and updates?
@BaranCODE
Awesome! Well, on most plugins you can type in the beggining of the command, for instance /review and hitting tab will scroll through the different options you have, This is implemented for new users of a plugin to see what options they have! It's not a biggie, just a suggestion!
I tried with the contest in status 0, 1 and 2, nothing :( Maybe the way time was managed changed from 1.7.2 to 1.7.5.
I have a few more improvement ideas, but I think I gave you enough already!
@GodsDead
Okay, thanks for the feedback. I'll get to it when I have time. Also, I don't get what you mean with: "Needs to have tab implemented scroll through available commands."
Also, was the contest in status 1 when you did the settime?
Ok! Cool, it seems to work which is a great start, this is exactly what we need! ;p few bugs and requests already.
@GodsDead
Okay then :D
@BaranCODE
I can see why too, only 8 comments! It took me ages to find this plugin, everything else is abandoned/looks nothing like im looking for!
This sounds perfect, I will try it tonight if I find time, I plan on using this on a monthly basis for a build competition, as you can see from my website (banner) I take the build competitions seriously :)
Even if it dousnt work, you'll definitely hear form me asking for it to be fixed and if it does expect feature requests! haha!
@GodsDead
It hasn't been abandoned, although I haven't made many updates recently, as you can see. I believe it should work in the latest builds, but I havent tested it, and it doesn't have UUID support yet (name changing support, but that's fine because name changing isn't allowed yet). I will make an update for this, because I want to start using it again, myself.
This sounds exactly what I have been looking for! Please say this works with later builds (1.7.5+) and that it has not been abandoned, I would love to try this out.
@levisn1
Ok I might add that
Add that when an contest is open, appear a scoreboard only for the partecipants...with the countdown, the theme of the contest, or their final votes..
@maxlehot1234
I might add it in the next update. I'm going to release it when bukkit 1.7.2 comes out.
Is it possible to add SQL support, becaus ei really want to add contest list on my website, like stats...it can link: players in a contest, contest list, players contest win/lose
Add reward to plyaer if they win, etc
@Jobsti2
1) If you give the players the "review" command permissions, they should be able to vote, but not for themselves. So, you can set up the permissions and use the plugin as you'd like. In the description, I wrote it saying that staff used the review command, but yeah, you can change that.
2) That could be a good idea. How do you think I should do this? Should there be a wall, maybe set by the owner with a selection wand, that has those signs, which are automatically updated? I'll look into it.
3) So the dates are pre-set and the owner doesn't have to change the status himself/herself each time? You're right, that would be very useful. I'll do it right now. (Note: Should the person write an actual date, or an amount of days, hours? If it's an actual date, I would have the plugin use the time and date of the server host, but that could be confusing with different time zones)
Very nice plugin, good Idea.
What do you think about a User-Vote for the submissions (except the vote for their own)?
2nd Idea: A Sign per Submission, which is showing the actuals votes & ratings?
(Number of Votes : Rating >- 1st Line || Staff-Rating @ 3rd Line)?
3rd Idea: An automatic Timer.
Typing the Date for the Start of building, End of submissions, which is the start for the Votes. And Time (Date) for the End of Voting (Contest End)
