BDchat
Welcome.
Links are down below for commandsThe documentation is currently outdated for this plugin. Most of the docs are still correct, and the rest will be updated soon.
Overview
BDchat aka Blocky Development Chat adds chat channels to your Minecraft server! There are several different types of channels you can use, and they are made to be configurable as possible meaning that you can make your own channels, and you can add as many channels as you want to. You can also set permissions to set who can talk and/or view messages sent in a certain channel.

- How to Help
- - If you are a programmer and would like to help me make this plugin I uploaded it to Github!
- - If you are not a programmer, but you have ideas on how to improve the default channels submit your changes to the config file on Github!
- - Of course, we also need people to know that this plugin exists! Let the admins of your server know about this plugin!
Update News
BDchat v3.0 released!
BDchat v3.0 released!
Please check the change log for more information about this release! It is currently beta, and you can expect a stable release soon.
IF I am not busy int he next upcoming week(s) I will look into adding some other permissions support.
I will try may darndest to get pex in there at least!
I am sorry for the slow development of the plugin lately. I have been kinda busy, and I haven't had time to do much coding. I will continue working on this whenever I have the time.
Also if anyone is using this plugin on a public MC server I would love to see how you are using it. Seeing how others are using my plugin will help me to know what kind of features I should add, and how I can improve my plugin. Please do not post the server IP's in the comments as I do not want it to become a big advertising thing, but I would love if you could send me a PM with the IP, and I will come on and check it out!
@Yupie123
Without Essentials Chat you will not be able to have channel prefixes showing.
I do not have any experience with PEX or ChatManager, but once I have time I will work on making my plugin more compatible with it. I will also add the option to turn off channel colors.
If you could create a ticket for this comment that would be great! It is much easier to manage it in the tickets than it is in comments.
Hey, I have a small problem: it doesn't show the prefix of the channel in the chat. I don't get any console errors and I have PEX and ChatManager installed.
And is there a way I can still have a coloured chat that you can set with PEX message-format? I tried this out and the channel colours seem to override this.
@jason8597
Anytime ^.^ thats what I'm here for :D
@stevenmg
Thanks! @Addicted should fix the prob :) thanks!
I will add that to the project page. Thanks for reporting the issue jason!
@jason8597
Okay, It took me a minute to figure it out. Since you are using this plugin, you cant use Essentials' Local chat option. Instead use BDchat's local chat option.
You have the "radius: 600" when it should be "radius: 0" changing this should fix your issue!
Hope it helps :D

Sorry for the really late reply, been busy and next time I will submit a ticket :3 but here is the essentials config http://pastebin.com/T319UYwX
Made a ticket as well, just in case :P
I want to start using the Bukkit ticket manager for this project from now on. So if you have a bug report or feature suggestion please create a ticket instead of using the comments. Feel free to use the comments if you have comments or something to say about the plugin though.
I will read any tickets submitted, and if they are valid I will try to fix the error or add the feature ASAP. :D
@jason8597
Yeah, the essentials paste is an invalid link :( Repost it please.
@jason8597
Please repost the Essentials one, it is invalid.
@Addicted_24_7

@jason8597
Please post your config in pastebin or github for both essentials chat and BDchat.
Hey, so far so good with the plugin, except during my configuration, it seems to display [BDchat] instead of the chat prefix being inserted where i put {BDchat} Also, when someone talks, there is always [L] at the beginning, including the [BDchat] Any solutions you can think of? Thanks!
@jaimy2105
I will add a way to do that in a future version :)
EDIT: I have decided not to implement this feature. There will be an option to leave certain channels, but it will not only show the channel you are in.
Awesome plugin! Could you make a option that only people that are in the channel can see chat? I do not use factions, and i need it for our RP channel. (When they are in there they can only see the RP chat)
@stevenmg
Yaaaayyy!!!
@Addicted_24_7
I figured someone would request that, lol, I was already planning to add that. I think it would be helpful also. :)
Any time!
and
One last request, can you make the color for each chat channel a custom different color?
So staff might get &c
global might get &b
local might get &f
faction gets their standard colors
and help could get &3
That way we can tell the difference between chat.
