What is ActionZones?
ActionZones is very simple. It has two basic components, zones and actions. When a player enters a zone, or leaves a zone, an action can be triggered. A full list of actions is available at the link above. There are a wide variety of actions that a zone can activate, ranging from teleports, to spawning entire buildings. Zones can overlap, or be in the same location, allowing for complex and diverse creations. Zones can also be chained together to form a series of actions.
Thank konsi for the video!
What can ActionZones do?
- A lot. I will work on some demonstration videos soon.
- You can use it for transportation. You're able to chain teleport zones together to simulate rapid motion. You're able to teleport conditionally, only allowing players to teleport if they pay a fee, have previously entered a specified location, or have an empty inventory.
- You're able to spawn temporary platforms for players to jump on. This is useful for dungeons and adventure maps.
- You can spawn and kill mobs in specified areas when a player triggers a zone action.
- You can launch players into the air in any direction, allowing them to jump massive gaps.
- You can store regions in a SQL database. This allows you to build two buildings in the same location, for instance. You can build one, save it, destroy it and build another and then save it. And they you can toggle between buildings. This is also useful for griefers if you have buildings without protection or want to make a honeypot. Any damage to the building can easily be reverted.
- You can save a players inventory, allowing them to die without risk even when they have a lot of experience and items.
- Create "rides" involving teleports and launches chained together. For instance, you could create a teleport zone which teleports a player into a second teleport zone, which then launches the player into the sky where they enter a third teleport zone which sends them to the nether and saves their inventory. They could then burn to death in lava and then have their inventory restored in a zone that's been set up at spawn.
- Countless other possiblilities. Your imagination is the limit.
How do I use ActionZones?
- Place it in your plugin directory.
- Create a zone with /setzone ["p1" or "p2"] [zone name]
- Link an action to your zone with /linkaction [action name] [zone name]
- Configure additional zone settings if needed. (Check the actions page at the top.)
- Add more zones and actions.
Requirements
- Some features require Vault
- Some features require a MySQL database
Planned Features
Potion effect action.- Console command action.
- Video tutorial.
Smoke effect action.Time change action.Weather change action.- Sound effect action.
- Command block zone.

I will examine this error more thoroughly when I get home from work. If you get a chance try this file: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/72185894/ActionZones.jar
@RegalOwl
Ok, I moved all of my plugins folder elsewhere, then put the current ActionZones.jar that you just sent me in a newly created plugins folder. Here is the complete startup followed by the /az command. then a "/setzone p1 xxx"...
@RegalOwl I get this error on /az now. I will try with no other plugins and see what I get.
@Unpluggeddk
I'll add that to the list. Nice idea.
@KeyMasterOfGozer
Have you tried it without any other plugins yet? This is an odd bug. See what /az does on this version: https:dl.dropbox.com/u/72185894/ActionZones.jar
@RegalOwl
I tried /az twice, and got the following error each time. My /setzone command still got the same error afterwards.
Can you make it possible to disallow configurable commands in a zone..
Been looking for such a plugin, but noone made it.. and worldguard doesnt know when they implement there's.. :(

@KeyMasterOfGozer
This is a very strange bug. Looks like the start up bug was unrelated. What version of craftbukkit, and what version of Java are you running. Also, try typing /az twice, and then see if it works after that.
@RegalOwl If I'm being a bother, let me know. I'm a developer myself, so I'm just trying to give you as much info as I can to help you out. If I'm being a pest, just let me know, I won't be offended. :)
I deleted my jar file and folder again, and started fresh with only the v0.102 jar file you linked. Now I get no errors on StartUp. Yay!, but when I try to do a "/setzone p1 SBMMonsterFloor", I still get an error, but it is different:
@KeyMasterOfGozer
I can't believe you were the first person to have this problem. It was a silly bug in the yml file code.
@RegalOwl
Hmm, yes, I did not notice before, but there is an error at startup. I totally deleted my ActionZones folder and jar file, and replaced it with a fresh downloaded copy. I am still getting the same error when trying to /setzone.
Here is what I get at Startup:
@KeyMasterOfGozer
That's a strange error. Have you tried creating a zone with a fresh install of ActionZones? And what specifically are you typing as the zone name? Also, do you get any errors on server start up?
I'm trying to use this plugin. it sounds great. I can SetLocations and Goto locations, but everytime I try to do a "/setzone p1 xxxx" I get an internal server error:
I can't make zones, so I can't do much else.
Awesome plugin!! I'm going to use it in conjunction with WorldGuard to make a creative mode zone on my server that stores players inventory when they enter, and restores it when they leave. I tested it, and it works great except for the enchantment levels (which I wrote a ticket for).
Very nice features! I can't wait to see how it evolves. :)
@james5300
Video tutorials should be coming soon. :)
@Kriptini
Yeah that's a great idea. I'll make a to do list and add that to it. I plan to keep adding more actions.
Hey, RegalOwl!
This plugin is fantastic! I'm developing a special Enderdragon boss fight using the zones as launch pads and whatnot.
I was wondering if you have any plans to make potion effects an "action" that a zone can grant. I think that would be a great feature!
Cheers, Kriptini
I think this is a extremely nice plugin but i dont wannt to read all commands it give so i think a video would be extremly nice!
Sry for my bad english i come from germany!
@thejellifish
Hey, glad you got it working. You're one of the first to notice this plugin. :P I'll make some videos for it after I finish an update for HyperConomy.
Hi,
How do I set a zone? Can you give an example of what p1 and p2 might be? Could a tool be used to select the cuboid?
Since I can't set a zone yet, I can't test anything else out so far...
This does conflict a little with war plugin too.
Looks like an exciting plugin though, can't wait to give it a proper test.
UPDATE: OK I've figured out, you stand where you want p1 to be and do /sz p1 zonename and then do the same with p2 time to have an experiment with this now I've got past that minor hurdle!
