Snowless
What does it do?
Prevents snow and/or ice from forming in the worlds you put in the config file- Prevents snow and ice forming by weather on all worlds
- Has commands to remove snow, ice or snow blocks
Why would you want this?
- Especially on creative servers you don't want snow or ice forming in random places. Also you may just want snowless worlds for numerous reasons. :p
- Some Minecraft changes made biomes shift, so perhaps an area of yours is now suddenly a snow biome. This plugin prevents it being covered by snow. Also that way farms don't break after the ice forming.
Installation
Just drag the Snowless.jar into your /plugins folder. It's that easy!
Commands / Permissions
Command | Description | Permission | Default |
/removesnow | Remove snow in an area | snowless.removesnow | op |
/removeice | Remove ice in an area | snowless.removeice | op |
/removesnowblocks | Remove snow blocks in an area | snowless.removesnowblocks | op |
Future possibilities
- Config file, that lets you
- Choose what worlds will be safe from snow/ice forming
- Per world choice between snow, ice, and both

Metrics
This plugin uses MCStats to collect information about plugin usage. Of course, this is strictly anonymous, and you can easily opt out via plugins/PluginMetrics/config.yml. The NSA isn't watching your server ;) You can of course see for yourself what data is collected on the MCStats site, just the basic stuff: how many servers, how many players, which Bukkit version, etc.
First of all, thanks for the plugin, it worked a long time! But when I updated my server to 1.7.2, the plugin just stopped working! I am making a snowy fortress with some snow here and there, and I thought that it would be cool if it was snowing. So I changed to biome using worldedit. The problem is, that there is now snow forming on the ice_plains biome, which is very ugly. How can i fix this? I tried your older versions, but it still generates snow and ice!
You should make a custom world generator for no snow to go along with this plugin!
Can you add a feature that disables the new 'snow in high block levels of mountain biomes' while letting snow accumulate as usual in any other biomes where snow should form? Either that or find a way to make it compatible with EpicZones to define 'no snow' regions. blahh snow.....do not like
@bebosny
Added in Snowless 1.4! :)
Get yours here if not updated yet:
Awesome plugin, will be using this. When are you planning on adding a command to remove snow and ice?
@csd113
I wouldn't mind putting the source code up, but I don't have it on an external disk atm, but there's lots of examples on the internet! Just search Bukkit Plugin Development Tutorial on YouTube and pick a recent video, or look examples up on Google.
Good luck anyway! :)
hey just wondering, could you possibly put the source code up i need to use it as an example for my own project (its just a project for my server and i dont intend on posting it to the public)
@seanskroht
Thanks!
Problem is, snow and ice don't melt naturally in a snow biome. They just don't. This makes it impossible to use normal melting. I'll try and see if there is another way, but expect this to be pretty processor-intensive.
Also I'm working on a config to make snow and ice separately configurable. :)
Hi Muizers
Great plugin! Thank you.
One of the reasons why we use this plugin is that we are still using a 1.7.3 map and we are getting snowfall and ice in areas where it never used to because of the biome shifts.
But also, I was looking for a plugin that could possibly allow snowfall but have it melt reasonably fast when the sun comes out. Maybe have the rate at which it melts configurable. Also provide the same for ice but have both settings independent from each so that we could allow snowfall but block ice forming. Is this possible and could it be added to your plugin?
Thanks heaps.
Thanks for making this plugin it is exactly what i was looking for however i would like to request that you add a command to instantly remove snow in areas as well if that is possible.
