@cnaude
Would it be possible to add in an extra check or two, actually? To check if the player is breaking a block within a region, and to check if the player owns that region?
I'm asking because this might be a more "solid" solution to implement, which means that a server admin will be less likely to complain about a similar issue.
@CommodoreAlpha
That plugin is likely cancelling the BlockBreakEvent. This plugin is very simple. It just watches for that event and if it is cancelled then it burns the player. I might be able to add an option to ignore certain tools.
Hmm, when I try breaking certain blocks via gold tools, this plugin burns me no matter where I am. It may be because another plugin is interfering with the BlockBreakEvent or something.
What do I mean by certain blocks? Logs->Gold_Axe; Stone->Gold_Pickaxe; Sand->Gold_Shovel; etc.
By the way, I had this plugin installed, which makes gold tools "auto-smelt" certain blocks, so that could have something to do with it. Maybe plugins that modify or override the BlockBreakEvent somehow conflict with this plugin by confusing it?
@adamvan2000
That's very unusual. If you are able to replicate it on your test machine please enable debug mode. It will print out useful information to the server.og.
Great plugin!
I'd like to report a few bugs we've noticed on our server. Players are burning when breaking blocks in non-protected areas as well as in WG regions they own. So far it's been wheat/any tool or hands, sand/shovels, cobble/picks, and crafting benches/any tool or hands.
We're running git-Bukkit-1.4.7-R1.0-b2624jnks, WorldGuard 5.7.1, and ItBurns 0.0.5. We also have McMMO 1.4.00-beta2-b1509installed, which I believe may be conflicting with ItBurns via the controlling of block breaking. I don't have access to the server logs at the moment, so I will have the owner reply with anything relevant from the logs. I may try installing WorldGuard, McMMO, and ItBurns on my test server to see if it has the same results

Currently it does hurt them if they break tall grasses. The only thing you can configure is the time it burns for. Im not sure if he'll add more features :)
Finally, a plugin that lets you teach players what a "protected region" means. Should help stop (annoying) people from repeatedly trying to break a block that isn't theirs.
One small thing, though. What if something like tallgrass or flowers are protected, and you accidentally hit it (e.g. PvP in a protected region)? It seems harsh, seeing as those blocks are insta-break, and you get burned for a simple mistake.
Thank you for making this for me cnaude, i trully owe you one :)
Also: this plugin works with Towny

@diannetea
Technically it should work with any plugin that uses the setCancelled() method. Try it and let me know.
Does it work with GriefProtection?
@Carisus
Looks like the jar was approved. http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/itburns/files/1-v0-0-4/
This is great. Let me know when the download link is up.
@BOOMBOOMMINECRAFTROCKS
This is not a protection plugin. It simply extends other protection plugins. It should work with any protection plugin like Worldguard and Residence...
How do you make a block protected?
