A Strategy Game... in Minecraft!
I didnt work on this for 6 months or so due to a severe case of lack-of-time sickness. However, i have completely re-written the entire thing and i got much farther this time, and i will release it all as version 0.1 once i have it borderline functional.It is designed around buildings which are programmed for StrategyCraft much as StrategyCraft is programmed for Bukkit, so if anyone is interested in programming those pieces i will be looking for someone to help with those.
As of this point, everything i have said below this line is invalid, and i am rebuilding everything from the ground up. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is a plugin that will add functionality to Minecraft to allow you to play a form of the typical RTS 3rd person strategy game (such as Age of Empires, with full unit control and the ability to build pre-designed buildings). I eventually plan on adding an API to make it easily expanded upon and versatile.
This is still in the very early stages of development. If you are interested in helping out, message me.
News:
Version 0.0.5 should be out soon. It has been decided to wait until buildings are fully... buildable... before this will come out.
Installation:
1. Download the StrategyCraft.jar, and place it in your plugins folder.
2. Start the server. The plugin will fail to start due to lack of building files, but will automatically create the appropriate folders.
3. Stop the server.
4. Download all the buildings you want and place the files in the 'buildings' folder.
5. Start the server.
6. Got to https:github.com/StrategyCraft/StrategyCraftBuildings/downloads and download the default building set. Unpack, and copy into /plugins/strategycraft/buildings
7. Restart the server!

This is still a work in progress, and all uploads will have will be updated code with little you can actually see.
This is all i have to write at the moment. As i figure out how the other steps will work i will continue adding more advanced descriptions.

No, I don't mind, however I have been planning on giving this a second try now that school is almost over, so if you wouldn't be opposed it would be best if we both worked on it. I have a lot of the harder stuff done already, so I could just add you to the current project, and save you some time. And trust me, this is way, way harder than you probably think it is.

I am still considering these things, my next task is dealing with the AI, but my plan is to make any unit attack any other unit that comes into range or attacks it, so that even offline they will defend. That will work for bowmen or anything else. Attacking should be similar, you have a stick with which you select units and then right click to make them go to that point. I may also make it so that they can follow you, making it a rts/fps hybrid. Attacking fortifications, however, im not sure of yet. That will probably be decided by the unit, which might try to mine it or might throw tnt or something, so swordsmen and archers would not be able to take a closed fortress on their own.

How will you make units able to defend your base? If your offline and get attacked, How will your unit defend your base. i have some sugestions.
First bow man/skeletons
You can set a sport where they stand and they will just stand there and shoot at enemys.
and how will you command soldiers to attack a base? and how will they do it

Hmm, ive been really busy, and havent had time for plugins, but maybe its time to start again...

Unfortunately i have been too busy to work on plugins for several months, and now that i have time again i need to spend it on my other plugins. Once those are stable, i will start here again.

I will try and come out with a new version soon to fix this. Did you download the correct Building set and add it to the buildings folder?
Someone help me, my bukkit can't detect the citadel.jar and auto-disabled StrategyCraft, I can't use the mod!

Yep. I put it on hold while waiting for Bukkit for 1.0 to come out, but should be starting again soon.
