SimpleZones
About SimpleZones
Config | Commands & Permissions | Flags
SimpleZones is a World management tool based on Towny with the goal of being easy to use. While there are many other region control plugins developed, none manage to provide a Town management system in a versatile, easy to use manner. It should be noted, though, that being simple doesn't stop SimpleZones from being powerful.
Features
- Unrestricted town and plot creation
- Any number of town members can build on any number of plots in a town
- Ban players from entering or trying to join your town
- Sanctuaries to block building or town creation in areas
- Town SuperUsers
- Warp points for each town
- MySQL and YAML support
- Send and receive mail
- Mass mail tool for town owners
- Town chat channels
- Town protection flags
- And above all, it is and will always be easy to use
Planned Features
- Configuration option to allow/disallow building outside of towns
- PvP flag
- Mayor-defined message for entering/exiting towns.
Tentative Plans
These features are being considered, but may or may not come to be. Mostly it depends on interest, but it also depends on whether or not I can figure out the right way to do it. I lack creativity, so PLEASE, comment with suggestions on what to include or what you do/don't like about ideas.
- Cooldown between leaving a town and joining another
- Plot-specific flagging
- Configurable economy support (able to completely enable/disable all or some features via config)
- Fee for creating a town
- Taxes
- Add a fee to blocking monsters/animals/explosions/fire (town-wide)
- Sell goods with different prices for town members vs. non-town members
- Buffs for town members
- Timed and untimed
- Paid for from a town "bank"
- Outposts (with warps)
- Mayors can expand a town's size
Advanced Users
Is SimpleZones just not intensive enough for your needs? Check out one of these other Town plugins! While they have a much steeper learning curve, both for admins and players, they have a rich supply of features.
maybe add some permission node for how many blocks a certain rank can place. for example i have 2 groups, mayor and president, i want mayor to be able to claim a maximum of a 200x200 town, but a president to claim a maximum of 500x500 maybe make the permission node like zone.claim.(number of blocks) just a thought, if not that than add economy support....
Hey, I'm starting my own server, and I want to make a "newbie zone". Where the rank "newbie" can't leave this zone until an admin (me) upgrades them to the rank "member". So basically it's an area/town where the newbies can stay till I trust them to go out into the rest of the world.
Is this the pluggin I'd use for something like that?
Updated documentation will be up in a few hours. Sorta forgot all about it.
Can We Create PvP Zone / Safe Zones?
Any reviews about this plugin ? :p
We are looking for something new.
Good job ! All your plugin , but I would prefer more owns for towns , but no one.If I'm Op , I want check my players.So I would this choice change numbers it going to better.. And to the future sory for my english .Maybe is there this question .. For me is hard read much text. Thank's
Hi there,
I have decided that your plugin is the best alternative to Towny after trying loads of others. Its simple, easy to use, and just works straight out of the box. But the problem I have is that players build towns too large. I assume that the code needed to prevent a towns size (width x height) exceeding a set limit in the config file isn't too complex? Please could you add this?
Thanks very much for reading,

Is there a way to set config for doors, pressure plates, levers, etc. If not, could you update so there is? Thanks!
sounds great! but what is the tool i select the corners with?
I agree, this plugin looks amazing I'm downloading. ;)
The server I'm on has been looking for a simple to use plugin that does what you have here, except we'd love to see the tax and fee for creating a town added!!! This looks amazing, as do all of the listed upcoming features.
I'm liking simplezones so far, but there are a couple of things I would like to forward to you:
1) Could we grant permissions for people to use things (such as switches) within a zone? That way we could rent dwellings, allow friends to access certain areas, etc.
2) Even with the flag set to +f I had no luck lighting netherrack in my zone. I had to destroy the zone, light the netherrack, and then re-create as a workaround.
Those are the only two issues I have had with simplezones so far so I'm definitely happy with it :) Keep it up!
Oh, by the way, the reason I haven't put up a new version for this weekend is because I don't really think I have anything worthy of a new version yet. The API implementation is really rudimentary so far. Right now I'm trying to make it so that new flags can be registered.
@rmh4209
Yeah, that's simple enough. Noted.
Sorry to keep flooding the page, but I had simple idea that I'm not sure if you've put in:
@Err0neous
I quite like the way you're designing the plugin. In honesty, the addon idea is perfect; most complex functions could be made as separate addon - hence why the API would be very useful. As soon as I get the chance, I'll look into the code there. Safari on an iOS device isn't that good for browsing GitHub.
@rmh4209
I like the way you think.
One of my goals is to make it so that this plugin doesn't become inundated with a lot of crap that a fair proportion of people don't want. That's why if I do a war extension, it'll almost definitely be as a separate addon. I like your ideas for when that does happen, though.
For modular ranks: I've actually been trying to think of a really good way to do that, lol. The trick is in storing such things. I think I have an idea, though.
I don't entirely understand your first thing, about grid/chunk plots. Right now, nowhere in the code is there a reference to the Chunks. I actually suggest that you take a look at my OwnedLand class to get a good idea of how it works.
@Err0neous
Allow me to see if I understand the way you're describing your idea.
If that's how it works (and it appears to be, from my reading your comment), then I think that would be a great way to manage plots.
I do have a couple suggestions, though they may not fit with your plans for the plugin or may be a bit too complicated for your aim of simplicity.
Again, I understand that some of these suggestions wouldn't be feasible, they're just things (or versions of things) I want to see in a town plugin and haven't seen.
@2797jake
There are no fees/taxes yet. When those are added in, yes, it will be completely configurable.
please add options for adding fees and taxes in the confg file...
