Lumberjack
Don't you hate those big trees where you cannot reach those high blocks while standing on the ground. Trees should be felled like a boss, so take them down with Lumberjack while your feet are still touching the ground!
Lumberjack released!
What does Lumberjack do?
Lumberjack detects if a player destroys a wood block that is part of a tree. The highest wood block will be destroyed instead of the block that the player destroyed, unless it is the same block of course. Works for oak, birch and redwood trees!
No more annoying trees! Please support this project by leaving a comment with your thoughts on it!
Help it doesn't work!?
If you have downloaded this plugin and it doesn't seem to work for you, ensure the following things:
- download the latest craftbukkit server and Lumberjack
- is Lumberjack enabled? Type the following command to be sure:
- /lumberjack enable
- does the tree you are chopping meet the following requirements?
- is block you are chopping connected to the the complete trunk?
- is the base of the trunk (the lowermost block) placed on a dirt (without grass) block?
- is the trunk of the tree connected to at least 4 naturally grown leaf blocks?
- (versions before 1.0.1v1) If you have NoCheat enabled then make sure to set the following options (found by ace1177)
- blockbreak.reach.check = false
- blockbreak.direction.check = false
- blockbreak.noswing.check = false
Lumberjack commands
As of version 1.8.1v2, Lumberjack has 4 commands. The commands can be viewed by typing /lumberjack . Most of the commands can be combined e.g. /lumberjack enable silent . It is also possible to use the shorter versions of the options, the 'hotnames' e.g. /lumberjack e s . This has the same result as the previous command.
enable
description: enables Lumberjack
hotname: e
disable
description: disables Lumberjack
hotname: d
silent
description: hides most Lumberjack messages
hotname: s
normal
description: shows all Lumberjack messages
hotname: n
Future Features
I decided to create a page that enlists all the plans I have for Lumberjack. If you have suggestions or fresh new ideas, feel free to leave a comment on the plans page!
Supporting the author
If you use and /or like /dislike Lumberjack, then please let me know why and what changes you would like to see! It really motivates me to continue the development :)
If you are a really nice person, you know that it takes time to develop plugins and you are willing to drink a glass of milk instead of a milkshake to save a dollar, then you can donate that dollar here
Spigot Is it usable?
How can i dowload for 1.7.10?
@levilover
Hey levilover, I'm sorry you couldn't find the git repository but here it is: https://github.com/deazurain/Lumberjack
The source code of this plugin has been available to everyone for over two years now.
This plugin may be very useful but it takes too much entertainment away from the game. The emotional value of the things you build increase with the time spent collecting resources and building it.
If you want to build gigantic things or experiment, go into creative mode and use plugins to assist you with that. If you want to enjoy survival minecraft to the fullest, cut the trees yourself with your trusty wooden axe. I promise you the game is more fun that way :D.
@deazurain
It might be boring for you, but I found it a very useful plug in! At least open it up for other people to update it or something. So frustrating. You are literally the only person who has a created this kind of a plug in
@iversen0
Sorry I won't. It was fun to create but I discovered that this plugin makes chopping wood very boring.
Please update ;)
Major problem when enabling Lumberjack:
I have fixed a small but major problem with this plugin, enabling it to work and run on 1.4.7 and 1.5.1 versions of Bukkit; also merged in smallperh45's jungle tree fix. Both of these fixes together form a working plugin.
However, I'm not sure how well it works. Anyone who is interested may PM me for a download link, but I provide no guarantee of its functionality beyond my own experience.
Same problem as Fiyasoldier. I really want this plugin. I did all of the help steps; yet it doesn't work.
Whenever I try to enable it or use any of the commands, I get a "An internal error occurred while attempting to perform this command", any idea how to fix this?
@Yoshinat0r
i do also
I get this when I try to load this plugin:
2013-01-29 18:21:59 [SEVERE] [BukkitForge] Could not load '.\plugins\Lumberjack.jar' in folder '.\plugins' org.bukkit.plugin.InvalidDescriptionException: Invalid plugin.yml at org.bukkit.plugin.java.JavaPluginLoader.getPluginDescription(JavaPluginLoader.java:257) at org.bukkit.plugin.SimplePluginManager.loadPlugins(SimplePluginManager.java:132) at org.bukkit.craftbukkit.CraftServer.loadPlugins(CraftServer.java:764) at org.bukkit.craftbukkit.CraftServer.<init>(CraftServer.java:215) at keepcalm.mods.bukkit.asm.BukkitStarter.run(BukkitStarter.java:46) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) Caused by: java.util.zip.ZipException: error in opening zip file at java.util.zip.ZipFile.open(Native Method) at java.util.zip.ZipFile.<init>(Unknown Source) at java.util.zip.ZipFile.<init>(Unknown Source) at java.util.jar.JarFile.<init>(Unknown Source) at java.util.jar.JarFile.<init>(Unknown Source) at org.bukkit.plugin.java.JavaPluginLoader.getPluginDescription(JavaPluginLoader.java:245)
I'm running bukkit 1.4.7

For information about permission nodes, please refer to https://github.com/PEXPlugins/PermissionsEx/wiki/Basic-Permissions-Setup
However, if you don't have PermissionsEx or PermissionsBukkit installed, everyone has permissions to access Lumberjack. In this situation, please simply ignore permission nodes.
Permission nodes?!?
Who thinks I should make smallperh45 co-owner? I do, considering his hard work. It would be a shame if the lumberjack webpage gives irrelevant or outdated information.
Finally, I resolved all of the issues. The following link is the up-to-date, stable release version of my modifications on Lumberjack:
https://github.com/ChinChangYang/Lumberjack/tree/master/target
I have created a wiki page on GitHub. You may find helpful information here:
https://github.com/ChinChangYang/Lumberjack/wiki
The new features of this version contains:
Have fun!
@crohakon
Currently, the aim of my works is to implement all of the reported features, and to release a Lumberjack-CCY-1.0. There are three issues needed to be resolved, as shown in https://github.com/ChinChangYang/Lumberjack/issues?milestone=1&state=open
I didn't ask the current owner for any access to this page, because I don't guarantee I will contribute to this plugin for a long time. However, I will try my best to resolve any issues of this plugin when I still play this game. This should explain why I don't rename this plugin to a new one.
smallperh45, if the current owner is not going to give you access to this page why not just re-name it, give him original credit, and bring on a few people like HSAR to help maintain it?
@Linschlager
PermissionsEx is supported by Lumberjack-CCY-0.99.1, which can be downloaded at https://github.com/ChinChangYang/Lumberjack/tree/CCY-0.99.1/jar
There is only one permission node in this plugin: "lumberjack.all".
Anyone has "lumberjack.all" permission can access Lumberjack functionality. A specific example of permissions.yml can be seen at https://github.com/ChinChangYang/Lumberjack/issues/8
Please note that, this is a development version. I don't guarantee it is bug free as very little testing has been done.
Edit: PermissionEx -> PermissionsEx
Edit: permission notes
@Linschlager
Thanks for your comments. I have added a new issue related to permission support at https://github.com/ChinChangYang/Lumberjack/issues/8
