Lanterns
Lanterns
Lanterns aims to provide a light source when a player is holding a torch or any other configured object! (for devs who have no idea how I will do this, I think I have found an overlooked way)
Added Features
- Torches provide light when held!
Added Config
- Can choose items that, when held, will provide light
Planned Permissions
lanterns.use - Lanterns will be active for this player
Seems like a great plugin it should be updated :D
Will there be an update any time soon?
I second that. Really really laggy at the moment. An update or the source would be much appreciated ;)
doesnt seem like this works with the latest version.. please update!! :)
EDIT: it does work but its really really buggy, you have to be against the wall to be able to use this... please fix? :)
@TheSkeletonSK
When he makes the permission addition i'l share the script with everyone Peace.
@Kiak
oh~ i do want that :3
Does it make sense that this wouldn't work properly on SpoutCraft Client because of the way it does it's thang?
or should i just try harder to make it work :) ?
@TheSkeletonSK
Hey man im just gunna give my players a command with Variable triggers that lets them toggle the permission on and off themself.
Let me know if you want to borrow it until Blue Bear adds that function himself :)
@Hoolean
well it would make this plugin alot more useable. and unique. i havent seen a single handheld light plugin that both hides the glowstone AND provides a way to turn it off and on. It would make it the best one in my opinion :3
@TheSkeletonSK
Very good idea! :D
This is a nice plugin. Handheld light source done in a rather creative way. however it still causes a bit of lag, which is to be expected, but i believe less than other plugins that are similar. but since it DOES still lag a bit, i recommend adding an on off command, that way users that dont want to use the torch's light unless necessary can choose to. that way people with horribad connection to a server, wont lag when all they want to do is place a torch. also, config loads with item id as 50, and wont change for some reason. Ill change it, but itll turn back to 50 (torch) when i reload the plugin.
Please make the glowstone invisible. It is annoying with that glowstone behind you. Otherwise great plugin! :)
As I use with Java 1.6, performance kinda drop a lot while holding torch in the dark. With Java 1.7 seems to run this much more smoothly, very nice.
For a guess, you kinda spawn a glow stone at the direction when player hold torch item and make it disappear so the light still emit, right? :D
@ImminentFate
Yes! My your puns simply glow with awesomeness!
I think I can guess what you're doing, if it's the same as what I experimented with :P something to do with the blocky nature of minecraft, and its enlightening nether? or perhaps the Halloween trademark?
@Hoolean
Im a dev who is very interested in how you did this. Pm if you want to help me out.
Beta release: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/lanterns/files/1-lanterns1-3-2_0/
@y1985
Oh great! I'm releasing the beta now!
Really interesting in this :D
@marcoseu
It is not the way you thing... It is not dealt with with packets or methods; it uses a rather primitive method ;D
