Zoom
Zoom
NOTE: This plugin is tested and working with 1.5! (currently testing with 1.6)
Simple Bukkit plugin to make hidden potion effect functions available.
About
Zoom is a simple Bukkit plugin that allows you to zoom in and out when you left/right (configurable) click with a configurable object in your hand. I got the idea from hawkfalkon's wonderful plugin Vertigo.

Video
What? Explain.
This is best explained in a few images:
Oh, my. What a beautiful landscape. Let's zoom in!
Pretty flowers, aren't they?
Look at that tree in the background! Think we could get some a closeup?
There, as simple as a few clicks!
Ok, cool, why do my players need it?
Well, it is useful for you and your players to spy on each other, or shoot each other with arrows. It is a great addition to any PvP server.
What if I just want to add it for my administrators?
No problem!
This plugin will also come in handy to zoom in and do some far modifications with plugins like VoxelSniper.
Zoom can also assist you as a video recording too. We also think it is a much needed game mechanic.
Features
- Zoom in and out clicking with an item!
- Configurable zoom levels!
- Zoom out when you change item held!
- Automatically zoom out completely when damaged!
- All of this is, of course, configurable!
Planned features
- Multilanguage support
- Nothing else for now... if you have an idea, post it down below! :D
How to use
Hold the magic item (that you set in the config file) and left/right click (again, based on what you set in the config file).
Permissions
Simply add the permission zoom.use to any player which you want to allow using. By default, only operators are given this node.
Configuration
The configuration is really simple, everything is explained in the file.
It should look like this when first using the plugin.
Support
I have been pretty busy lately, but if you have a problem, find a bug, or want a feature, email me at [email protected], or leave a comment here. No feature is too small, and no question is too stupid. If there is a feature you really want though, why not implement it yourself and make a pull request? :D
Enjoy!
Hey guys, want any help? :D
could you add a support for spout items ? (id : 318, flint / data value >1024 )
Very interesting the way you managed to do this, nice job! like a lot your plugin!
Just updated the page for a cleaner look and on the same occasion, Zoom!
Zoom 1.1 changelog:
Download still awaiting approval.
Thanks for everybody's support so far! :)
@Swipa
Yes, it will be fully customizable in the next update.
As far as removing the effect when changing item I think it is possible, I'll try to make that configurable as well.
Thanks for the feedback!
And could also remove the zoom in effect when you scroll to a different item? When I zoom in with the MagicItem then scroll to another item the effects are still present.
I'm currently working on making a sniper rifle with this plugin. Is it possible to configure the amount of zooms in the next update?
Hello guys, new developer on the plugin. I'm going to release a new version soon and perfect this page and documentation a bit.
@Swipa
Try GOLD_HOE instead. Next update will allow entering IDs.
How do you change the MagicItem from "BOW" to a two part word like golden hoe? I've tried the ID, GOLDEN_HOE and GOLDEN HOE.
@jtjj222
oh ok thanks a lot :)
@nicerman1
Here I have highlighted the lines When you add a potion of slowness, minecraft changes your fov (field of view) so that it zooms in slightly. By adding really strong potion of slowness, you can zoom in a lot
Very nice plugin :) I'm also glad you implemented the source code. I'm a beginner (noob) bukkit plugin developer. I understand all of your code, but i an't seem to find where you really specifie the zooming. I understand if you don't have time for this. But i'll be awesome if you respond :)
p.s: sorry for bad english i'm from Belgium :)
@dev7kasper
Sure! Conveniently enough, I also made a server-side texture pack changer plugin :D http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/texturepackchanger/
Tested and working with 1.4.6 :D
