zLogger

Description

zLogger is a backend tool used to generate cleaner logs, and distinct logs for distinct parts of the server. It logs chat and commands to either mySQL or flatfile in version 1.0, and in version 1.1 it will log entity actions (deaths, spawns, etc.) along with item drops/pickups to find where your items are going. There is a logfile for each "Logging Module"

Setup and usage

Install on server by placing in plugins/
Reload/Restart/load using a plugin manager
Edit newly config.yml to suit your needs

np Twister,i assume it will take some time for the new version to get approved? a suggestion,make it so you can disable and enable logs in config. cheers..Edit: Now no more errors in console,thanks for the update =)

I should do something like that for XYZ Craft. I use tmux to do almost everything, and have cronjobs/bash scripts starting/stopping/restarting/saving/managing the server fully automatically.

We should talk some time, share some secrets :o

Thanks for your time mate! I am not using mysql logging at the moment, flat file is perfect for me so I can grep or tail logs at the CLI. I usually am sitting on an ssh session and I have written a bunch of scripts that let me interact with the game like chat and other stuff. I am more comfortable there than in game :D

Pastebin is down atm, but I assume the error is from the MySQL system that I developed improperly. You can download the latest development release from (Mod remove link to unapproved file)

I'll think about adding HeroChat support, meaning, adding /msg to the Chat log, or maybe doing as you said, parsing the /msg preprocessed command.

Also, I get you on the password commands. I think I'll add some code so each logger (which is designed in the code as a "module") can add it's own configuration system, and read it.

Thanks for the tips, I'll be sure to take them into consideration. I also highly recommend updating your plugin, for the MySQL was broken, due to me forgetting to close SQL connections to the server. I've fixed that and whatnot.

WOW, This looks GREAT. I have a few observations that would allow me to FINALLY get rid of bLog_1.2.1.jar (un supported and is updated by the community but not being developed)

It would be nice to allow certain commands to be forced to the chat log and others to NEVER be logged (for security reasons)

a config file example

toChat: - /me - /eme - /msg - /emsg #dont log these commands to commandlog: noCommand: #Commands to hide - /passwordCommands #ALL CHAT commands from above (or code in a remove duplicates) - /me - /eme - /msg - /emsg

Having hooks or at least understanding of how herochat comes into play for chat logging would be nice, but with the above config method we can just provide our own config directives.

The other nice thing would be to have the ability to name our own config files and paths. Also the ability to use date directives, an example

chat_log: plugins/zLogger/logs/%Y%m_chat.log

hi got this error http://pastebin.com/fhiVFCbM any ideas of what's wrong? it's 2 servers,with diffrent errors running 1.4.7-r1.0 and zlogger

hey twister,thanks for this,it works very well =) Do you have any good tip on how i easily can view the chatlogs,when using mysql?it's kinda new to me this mysql thing. have a nice day regards tiwar
