Tactical Bacon: Reloaded

Overview

Tactical Bacon is just-for-fun plugin that introduces pigs fed on Creeper slurry and bathed in nitroglycerin. Once a mode is selected (see below), your weaponized pigs can be activated by dropping the appropriate item from your inventory.

Installation

Download and place the TacticalBacon-Reloaded.jar file inside your server's plugins folder.

Configuration

Upon running the first time, the plugin will generate its configuration file at: [server folder]\plugins\TacticalBacon\config.yml

This configuration file contains the plugin's five options:

  • Item - This is the item ID the player must drop from their inventory to activate Tactical Bacon's functions. (default: 368 / Ender Pearl)
    • Note: Tactical Bacon is a plugin: It affects what items do, not what they look like. To get the custom artwork displayed in the video, the artwork must match the item specified in the plugin's configuration. The texture pack shown in the video is the Palceon Pack.
  • Power - This controls the explosive strength of the weaponized pigs. Should be a positive integer (default: 5, tested as high as 100. It crashed.)
  • Entity - This controls the entity thrown (Yes, you can change it!). (default: pig)
    • See a full list of valid entities here. Warning: Ender Dragons tested but not recommended!
  • Remove-Drops - This controls whether or not the plugin deletes entity drops in the area around an exploding pig (default: true)
  • Allow-Plugin-Metrics - This will allow or deny the plugins usage of Plugin Metrics to send server stats to MCStats.org (default: true)
  • Auto-Update - This will allow or deny auto updating via the use of Updater. Set this to download to automatically download updates, notify to only allow alerts via console, or none to completely disable this feature. (default: notify)

Permissions

In the new update, permissions replace admns.txt

  • bacon.all - Allows usage of all TacticalBacon features
  • bacon.hamgrenade - Allows usage of the Hamgrenade Mode
  • bacon.pigapault - Allows usage of the Pigapault Mode
  • bacon.hamahock - Allows usage of the Hamahock Missile
  • bacon.reload - Allows you to reload the configuration with /tb reload
  • bacon.info - Allows you to see the plugin version with /tb

Tactical Bacon Modes

  • Hamgrenade - An explosive pig is dropped at the player location. The pig will explode when it takes damage of any kind, including falling damage. (Command: /hamgrenade or /hg)
  • Pigapault - An explosive pig is fired in a parabolic arc away from the player's location. The pig will explode when it takes damage of any kind, including falling damage. (Command: /pigapault)
  • Hamahock Missile - A meat-seeking missile is fired at another player. The pig will explode when it takes damage of any kind, or comes within one (1) block of the targeted player. (Command: /hamahock <player> e.g. "/hamahock plusnine", as seen in the video's finale.)

Activating Your Tactical Bacon

Unlike plugins like VoxelDoop which are activated by left- or right- clicking, Tactical Bacon is activated by the player DROPPING the item. By default, Minecraft has this set to the "Q" key. Check your client's control configuration to make sure before you play with explosive pork!

Mini-Game Development

VoxelTanx

VoxelTanx is a game played on terrain arenas divided into chunk sized-areas with visible borders.

  • 3-10 Players
  • Players may be in to teams or play cutthroat. Iron and Chainmail armor should be worn to divide teams, as they provide identical protection.

RULES

  • Players should all be in /pigapault mode. Aim down for a higher vertical in your arc, and aim up for a longer horizontal toss. Improving your accuracy is key to surviving!
  • Players will not need more than 64 Tactical Bacon explosives to play.
  • Players must not fly, as hiding from your enemy and falling damage will affect gameplay. If you want a better view of the action, get into the fray, you coward!
  • Explosive strength should be set to 4 for a longer game and 5 for a shorter game.

HOW TO PLAY

  • Players may begin the game on squares of their choosing, as long as those squares are adjacent to their home home base / border.
  • Players should not be in range of each other's weapons for the first turn.

Each player, in rotation, performs two actions that comprise their turn: Moving and Shooting.

Moving Action

  • A player may reposition themselves anywhere within their square or any adjacent (but not diagonal) square.

Shooting Action

  • The player fires.
  • If the player chooses not to shoot that around, they may exchange their Shooting Action for a second Moving Action.

All players should announce their each of the two actions that comprise their turn (i.e. saying "Moving!" and "Shooting!" (or "Moving Again!") into the chat log, or demoralize your opponents with a pithy jab as you launch your pig!

Referee

Having a flying VoxelSniper Referee is a good idea and can help to facilitate player turn orders.

Additional Development

  • Fort Building / Supplies?
  • Tactical Capture Squares (e.g. 2 uses of /hamahock )

Cactus Blowout

Cactus Blowout is an action game played on flat sandy terrain with lots and lots of cactus around.

  • 2+ Players
  • Cutthroat

RULES

  • Players should all be in /hamgrenade mode. Aim down for a higher vertical in your arc, and aim up for a longer horizontal toss. Improving your accuracy is key to surviving!
  • Players will not need more than 64 Tactical Bacon explosives to play.
  • Players must not fly, as avoiding cactuses and exploding pigs is key to gameplay.
  • Explosive strength should not matter, and players should not wear armor for this game.

HOW TO PLAY

  • Players traverse the sandy cactus fields strategically planting a few Ham Grenades.
  • The Ham Grenades will explode when they are pricked by a cactus.
  • Try to trap your opponents with clever use of bombs, but don't get caught in the explosion yourself!
  • The last surviving player is the wins the game.
  • Tip: You may find it best to play this game in 3rd person mode (press F5)

Referee

A VoxelSniper referee is again key to easy games, as the Splatter Disc. Repairing the arena while players are still playing the game can keep terrain even, and add new cactus if the arena doesn't have a sufficient quantity for detonating pigs.
