SnoGro (SnowGrow)
SnoGro
AKA SnowGrow
Version: v1.2.7(release)
CB 1.6.2-R0.1
Authors: @Musaddict @Feed_Dante
This plugin uses all 8 of the snowtops (yes, there are 8 heights of snow!) using a gradual snow pile-up algorithm to make aesthetically pleasing snowy areas! The snow is set up to not build up on cliff edges, or borders of the chosen area, so you can simply walk into them without worrying about it lookin' choppy! Works great in forests, adds a little extra touch to the feel. Makes everything less... blocky.
Features:
- Uses all 8 snowtops! (well, technically 7 and a snow block)
- Hooked into weather!
- Piles-up snow automatically in snowy biomes.
- Start it snowing for as long as you want using /snow [radius] [time]
- Radius is Square, not Circular
- Time is in seconds. (300 = 5 min)
- Stop the snow whenever you feel like it using /snow stop
- Optimized performance to relieve resource consumption on servers
- Fully compatible with WorldEdit (use snow with a double-slash to use WE's)
- Compatible with SuperPerm plugins
Permissions:
sg.snow | Starts snow /snow [radius] [time] |
sg.stop | Stops snow /snow stop |
sg.world.enable | allows the use of /snow enable [world] |
sg.world.disable | allows the use of /snow disable [world] |
OPs can, by default, start and stop snow
Known Bugs:
- Due to the restrictions of Bukkit and Minecraft, we cannot simulate snowfall within the specified radius, sorry!
- SnoGro require the server to be running Java 1.7
It seems that snow goes through glass blocks. Any idea how to fix this?
I like this plugin, but even at very conservative settings it's too computationally intensive for any more than a small number of players. :(
1.2.4 support
@Liger_XT5
http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/snow-grow/pages/help/configuration/
That should help :)
Any ways of explain the config settings a bit more in detail? Example: growth-delay: 1.5 is seconds or calculated in ticks?
Disregard snowball:1 bug, that was a craftbukkit derp.
Minor bug - shoveling layered snow (2-7) creates snowball:1, which cannot make snow blocks.
You can take a snowball made from one-layer snow, and put 15 snowball:1s on it, which makes the whole stack into good snowballs.
This plugin should perhaps add a crafting recipe for snowball:1, or ensure that normal snowballs drop from layered snow. I'll probably be adding an OtherBlocks recipe to do it.
This plugin ignores WorldGuard's snow falling deny flag.
Would it be possible for you to add a blacklist of blocks that won't be affected by snowfall?
Updated to 1.2.3-R0.1.
You do not need to update if you are using 1.1.3. The code is identical!
Can you update to 1.2 and PM me when it's available?
A really nice plugin which should've been part of minecraft!
:O WOW so simple yet so damn cool. Im not sure how or why I would use this plugin tho but I will keep it in mind for possible use on my server. ;) Great job.
I have uploaded a version 1.1.3 which stops snow from growing ontop of cacti, nether fence and stairs, and trap doors.
Note: In preparation and celebration of Mass Effect 3, expect no major updates until the week of the 11th. Bug fixes will still be addressed, but the addition of melting will be put on hold.
@darkmage0252
Thanks for the additions. I will be releasing a new version tomorrow. (Haven't been able to. Been away from my programming computer)
This is amazing! Just the sort of thing my server needed!! I have not gotten to play with it much yet, but if you don't mind...
Suggestion: Snow should pile up faster if the (non-snow) block North or East is higher and slower if the block South or West higher, simulating win on snow accumulations. Directions could be configurable or set to change after a period of time.
snow is still forming ontop of nether fences and cactus
Really neat and cool wish i could use it on my server but it kind of lags :/ good work hope to see more updates in the future.
Another bug: snow grows on top of trapdoors.

@TheMetalMineCrafter
Unless I'm missing something, aside from adding melting algorithms, it should be up to speed! :)
seems like a great idea, ill probably be downloading soon once youve fixed a few bugs ive read about, but GOOD LUCK!! :D
