SimpleZones
About SimpleZones
Config | Commands & Permissions | Flags
SimpleZones is a World management tool based on Towny with the goal of being easy to use. While there are many other region control plugins developed, none manage to provide a Town management system in a versatile, easy to use manner. It should be noted, though, that being simple doesn't stop SimpleZones from being powerful.

Tentative Plans
These features are being considered, but may or may not come to be. Mostly it depends on interest, but it also depends on whether or not I can figure out the right way to do it. I lack creativity, so PLEASE, comment with suggestions on what to include or what you do/don't like about ideas.
- Cooldown between leaving a town and joining another
- Plot-specific flagging
- Configurable economy support (able to completely enable/disable all or some features via config)
- Fee for creating a town
- Taxes
- Add a fee to blocking monsters/animals/explosions/fire (town-wide)
- Sell goods with different prices for town members vs. non-town members
- Buffs for town members
- Timed and untimed
- Paid for from a town "bank"
- Outposts (with warps)
- Mayors can expand a town's size
Advanced Users
Is SimpleZones just not intensive enough for your needs? Check out one of these other Town plugins! While they have a much steeper learning curve, both for admins and players, they have a rich supply of features.
So, I've been doing a lot of thinking about plots and the way they're handled. It seems like it leaves a lot in the hands of the town's administrators if they have to manually create every plot and maintain ownership of it. I just have this nagging urge to improve it somehow. To that end, I've come up with the following (tentative) reworked method for regulating plot creation/management:
Basically, plots created by town administrators (mayor, for instance) would be owned by the town, leaving it to any administrator to deal with it. These plots could be given to specific users to own if the administrators so desire. However, in addition, individual users can propose a plot via the same plot defining process that admins use. However, instead of creating the plot when they hit create, it notifies the town staff, who can then view the proposed area and either accept or deny said proposal. If accepted, the original proposer is the owner of the plot and can administrate it just like town admins can now.
Thoughts/suggestions?

/zone join <townName> If you have already been invited by the owner of that town, and that means you still have the mail from them in your mailbox (you haven't deleted it), then this will have you join said town. Otherwise, it sends a mail to that town owner saying you want to join.
/zone invite <player> If you have already received a request from that player asking to join your town, this will confirm that request. Otherwise, it sends a mail to that player saying that you'd like them to join.

I have been trying to come up with a better way to deal with permissions... Sure, why not? As for expanding a town's territory, I've been toying with the idea of outposts and such. What I'll probably do is add in that sort of thing after I've got a basic economy written. That way abuse can be avoided by charging by the block (xz) or setting a minimum size.
By the way, I've gotten a couple PMs asking if I plan to do something like Towny's war system. If I do, it'll be as a separate plugin that just ties in with this one... and it won't be particularly simple or any time soon. I have a few ideas on how to do that xD.
how do i join
can you add something like different ranks for members of a town E.G. Mayor, Co-Mayor, Assistant and Resident and make them have different permissions like mayor can take peoples plots away and claim more plots for town(increase town size). co mayor can claim more plots but cannot take away plots and set the taxes. just things like that i would love to see this implemented :D
0.6 is up... sorry for all the delays on it =/
@rmh4209
1. I will either next week or the following week, now that you bring it up. I think I have an idea of how to do that easily, actually.
2. Alright.
3. I thought I already did that (I know that I at least blocked access to chests), but I'll check... and when I add superusers I'll stick that in, too. If I forgot that, I'll get it done asap.
API: I hadn't really thought about it, but sure, why not? I'll probably include that in like... 0.7 or 0.8.
@Err0neous
Also, seeing as I like what you're doing with this plugin, will you implement an API so I can include support for it in my plugins?
@Err0neous
Sounds great! Lookin' lovely. A couple things...
I look forward to what you do with this plugin.
It's been sortof unofficial so far, but yes, there is now a firm weekly update schedule. Unless there's a huge issue with a release, like an emergency bug or security hole, new builds will be posted every weekend. That means *hopefully* each Sunday. This could change at any time, depending on how big an update is, and will probably slow down once this is out of beta.
ALSO! 0.5 is ready! I've added protection flags.
Note: I'm spending an hour or so tomorrow updating this page and providing a decent overview of commands, permissions, and especially the config file. Look forward to it.
I've been busy for most of this week... I fixed the bugs in the last release, and wrote mass mail today. Tomorrow I'll do town chat and upload 0.4
What do you mean, exactly? Like, restricting who can join a town?
I Have a Suggesting make have permissions like for Which ranks can build in a town or something.
Awesome job on this!
All of the plans/tentative plans look great! Can't wait to see this evolve!
