poo - simple word replacement. Will not check if word is inside another word and will allow poop
po?o - will block the word poo and any spelling of poo that has any number of o's in it. ie 'poooooooooo'
\w*poo\w* - will block any word that contains poo(ie poop, apoo, beepoo etc.)
poo:stool - word replacement, will replace "poo" with "stool"
\w* and +? can be used together ie \w*p+?o+?o\w* will block any variation of poo such as pooooooop, apooo poopoooes
had a poo - (phrase matching) will censor had a poo but not the words invidually
