Anyone who has been active on the main forums in the last few days must surely have already heard the news.
I'm not going to comment on why and how, but the short version is that Bukkit is almost certainly not getting passed this.
Consequently, the future of BukkitDev is very uncertain. Even if the legal matters were resolved tomorrow there isn't really anybody left to deal with file submissions anyway. There's no indication about how long the site will stay up and what will happen to the files.
Anyway, while I will continue updating and developing my plugins you will need to look for updates somewhere else, namely the wiki. I will be updating this wiki in the next few days to facilitate better communication (forums, email, etc.) and adding any documentation that's missing.
I will also, of course, be looking into porting the plugins over to whichever API emerges from the ashes!
Introduction
Mobs gives you the ability to control almost every aspect of the mobs on your server, and a few other things on top.
The concept is simple - as your server is running, things are constantly happening. Players are mining, mobs are spawning, the sun is going down, it's starting to rain, etc.
Behind the scenes, CraftBukkit is sending messages to all interested plugins about these events. Player John broke a block of stone in world at location 55, 23, 137; A sheep died in world at location 209, 77, 22, etc. There are dozens of events, and thousands of these messages are sent every minute.
Most plugins listen for a few of these messages and act upon them. Mob-blocking plugins, for example, listen for new mobs spawning somwehere, and then look at the config to decide whether to allow or block the mob from spawning. Chat filtering plugins listen for the player is chatting messages and block/edit them according to the config.
Mobs listens for most (eventually all) of the mob-related messages, and a few extra ones, and gives you the option to block, allow, or alter the effect of the event.
However, it goes beyond that in that it allows you to use the event to perform one or more actions. So, while you may not want to interfere with creepers spawning, you can use this event to change the weather, set the time, drop an item somewhere, give someone some experience points, or as many of the dozens of possible actions that you want.
Additionally, it's possible to use conditions to filter the events you act upon. Want to give creepers a 1 in 1000 chance of taking out half your house when it explodes? Not a problem (except for the house).
Config.yml
checkfornewerversion - set to yes to allow the plugin to contact this site and see if there is a newer version available. Note that it onlys checks, and doesn't download anything.
generatetemplates - set to yes to have the plugin create empty config files for every possible event. Alternatively, simply look up the names on the
tutorial and create only the files you want.
worldstoignore - a list of worlds in which the plugin will be effectively disabled, ignoring all events in those worlds.
allow_debug - set to yes to enable other plugins to access the event API (for logging, debugging, etc.)
Commands
There is one only command in the plugin, which is
/reload_mobs, or
/rm. The reloads the config without reloading the plugin itself.
Users need the mobs.can
reloadconfig permission, or to be an op.
Update checking
If you like, you can set the plugin to check for any newer versions that get released. To do this use the check
fornewer_version option in the config file. This only works for release builds so you won't be bothered by any beta or dev builds.
Note that no update will be downloaded even with this set.

Updates
Updates for all my plugins will be announced via Twitter, which you can find
here.
Dependencies
Mobs has another plugin as a dependency called Extra Events. Read more about it
here.
Make sure you install Extra Events as well otherwise you will get errors on startup!
Donate
Mobs takes a lot of time to maintain, so if your server is enriched by it and you have some spare donations please consider sharing!
If you're penniless or like
Mobs but not that much I'm also partial to TF2 items. Send any you don't want my way! STEAM id: coldntired
If you don't know what TF2 is, then start playing! It's
free and fun!
For some reason this plug disables all my Spout menus. I would love to use this plug-in but i need my spout menus working. also i'm oped on my server and i can not use the reload commands. says i don't have access.. also i'm admin in my bukkitperms
i know youve put alot of work into this but i want to third the change of the config. this plugin is essential and i just cannot get it to work. if it had customdiffuclty-like config it work be awesome!
Yeah, I'm usually not too bad at this stuff, but I've tried to figure this plugin out a couple of times and I'm just getting audible pings from the springs in my brain popping out of position. Definitely needs some human parsable documentation soon.
All I want at the moment is to limit all hostile mobs in the normal world to only spawn below y level 62. I'm assuming the spawns module is the one for this, right? The full map is border controlled at 15000x15000, so if I have to create a region to make this rule, will the size of it cause performance issues?
Are you gonna port this to spout? Would be awesome!
Here's what I'm talking about: http://forums.getspout.org/threads/new-years-resolutions.487/
I cannot for the life of me figure this out. I would like to know how to make a really simple config. I want to make it so Enderman do not spawn in the Ender. It sounds stupid yes but that is what I would like to do. This also needs to only effect the Ender, I don't want it effecting other worlds. I tried (in the spawns.yml); spawns: - mobs: - name: Enderman location: limit: 0 world: world_the_end
it didn't work. the config reloads says "found but empty!"
@coldandtired
Thanks, That fixed something but there is other things to handle :P
When I spawn with the command /spawn_mob pig1 or wait the time it only spawn the pigs if there is no other pigs arround, I know I asked for it, but it would be very awesome if u could spawn only the remaining mobs, for example: The spawner is configured to spawn 5 pigs, so if I kill 1 pig it will remain 4, then I want the plugin to spawn 1 pig to complete the max pigs in the config =p
Thanks =)
1.3.1 is up.

@mantegudo Sorry, there was a tiny mistake in 1.3 which wouldn't catch 0, only 1+. Fixed in 1.3.1
This would be the config:
@hathfury I think Essentials Economy (or Vault) isn't playing nicely. I tested it with iConomy and it works fine, but EE won't even recognise the /money command.
I really love this addon and I hope to use it for all my mob configuration needs. I am having trouble getting the money_chance configured though. I get no errors, but my balance is not being updated. I have confirmed that Vault is hooking to Essentials Economy at startup (I'm using Essentials 2.7.2).
Just for testing, I am using the following deaths.yml:
My understanding is that each of the listed mobs should drop 30 of whatever my currency is each time they are killed. Is that correct? Note that if I use the following, all of the listed mobs drop 1 feather as expected (but still no money).
Does someone have a working deaths.yml file and economy addon that I can reference? Or is there anything glaringly wrong with my above setup? Thanks!
@coldandtired
mestrecraft is my hole world, spawndeporco is the name of my region, and its small, please just send me a config that spawns pig every 5 minutes in "spawndeporco" region, 5 pigs and only if no other pigs on the region, thanks
@mantegudo Hmm, that's debug code that it looks like I missed taking out :(
count = means the number of the mob that can be spawned in the region before the limit is reached, and w_limit is the same for the world.
So according to that, the plugin is telling you (or me) that 288 pigs are in the world, and no pigs in the region called mestrecraft.
The limits should only work automatically as spawning by the command overrides the limit (although I think I'll make that an option).
Can you try making a small region and testing it?
@coldandtired
Both ways they spawn, now I removed the world_limit: 300 and it won't spawn anymore, even with the command... I look into the console and saw the message: PIG count = 5, w_count = -12
@dockter It already hooks to Vault, and mobs (or players) dying can reward (or punish) the killer's bank balance.
@mantegudo Are they spawning from the timer interval or from the command with the shortcut?
@Coldandtired
Can you hook with iConomy6 and allow for currently drops on mob death?
Hey it keeps spawning Pigs on the region, here is my Config File:
@kyneff All configs are blank to start with. You need to read the docs (or look at the examples in the comments) and adjust them to fit your needs. For the non-burning, see my comment below.
@mantegudo It's because I changed the burn_mobs setting. It used to be
but now it must be
I want only Zombies to spawn on my server and for them not to burn during the day.
