Storage Minecarts can be used to automatically plant and harvest various crops as they move along as section of rail. Combine this with item-handling and you have a fully automated farm!

Farming with [Farm]

The [Farm] action tells the minecart to begin farming the type specified on the second line of the sign. Only 1 type of farming may be active at a time. You will need to get the farming started by placing some of the appropriate seed items in the minecart.

Farm Types

Melon Farming

To farm melons you need to plant them manually. The cart collects the grown melons and leaves the stems standing so that they can continue growing new melons. Automatically planting them is not supported because stems need an empty block of tilled soil to grow next to them.

Pumpkin Farming

To farm pumpkins you need to plant them manually. The cart collects the grown pumpkins and leaves the stems standing so that they can continue growing. Automatically planting them is not supported because stems need an empty block of tilled soil to grow next to them.

"Old Style" Farming

This is Minecart Mania's original way of automated farming. You can put the commands on any line on a sign next to a minecart track. You can combine up to 4 options on one sign.

Tree Farming

This is the quick way to get access to lots of wood for large buildings or as a basis for charcoal. Wood farming consists of several parts. To activate the wood collection write [AutoTimber] on a sign. The cart will find tree roots and then collect the whole trunk. If there are wood blocks not directly connected to the trunk they will be left over at the moment. To replant a tree after collecting it write [AutoForest] on another sign or on a different line on the same sign as [AutoTimber]. The cart will plant a sapling of the correct type - if it has one - where the tree once stood. To switch wood farming off use [Timber Off] and [Forest Off] on a sign.

Wheat Farming

If you need to feed lots of animals are a real bread-fan you need wheat farming. [AutoTill] will automatically till any soil around the minecart. [AutoSeed] will then plant seeds on it (the minecart needs to have some!) and [AutoHarvest] will reap your finished wheats when they are ready. Switching of is done with [Till Off], [Seed Off] and [Harvest Off].

Sugar Farming

Farming Sugar Cane is as easy as farming the other plants. Don't forget the flowing water close enough to the sugar cane or growing it might be a bit hard.

Cactus Farming

Need green coloring? Farm Cactus! To collect them write [AutoCactus] on a sign and to replant them after collection use [AutoReCactus]. To switch them off use [Cactus Off] and [ReCactus Off]. Of course cactus can only be planted on sand!

Melon Farming

This is not supported with the "old way".

Pumpkin Farming

This is not supported with the "old way".
