Help Pages
Have you ever wanted to be able to customize /help with ease? Now you can!
Just make a file with the text, and you're good to go!
- Download the plugin
- Put it in your folder
- Run the server once
- Make a file in the HelpPages/Pages/ folder called Main.txt
- This is the main help file. You can now add whatever you want in it. If you want more files for more arguments, follow these steps
- Check the argument you want. Such as /help donor somerank.
- Make the file donor_somerank.txt in the HelpPages/Pages/ folder. Again, just put whatever you want in it.
- The underscore ( "_" ) represents a space in the command. So a file called "i_love_this_server.txt" would need the "/help i love this server" command.
To reload do /helpreload. This requires the helppages.reload permission.
2.0 has REVAMPED permissions! How do they work you may ask? Here's how.
Depending on which folder you put the text file into, that's your permission. So let's say you have two folders. One for op the other for default. If default doesn't have the op permission, it will open the first one. Since op has both permissions, it will open one of them (eh.. I should change this haha). So if the player has the permission on the folder, they can read the page!
@PaulBGD
I'm assuming it doesn't work since it doesn't create any folders or config files :>
I'll yell at it and make a 1.6 version.
It should work out of the box still though.
@PaulBGD
Are you planning on making a version compatible with 1.6 because I really love this plugin :O
Does this work on 1.6.2? The reason I'm asking is because it doesn't create a folder for me to put my files in
@TheCoolGuy123_5_Minecraft_
You'll need the dev build.
@ultimate_n00b the " - " is what I tried. This plugin is up-to-date with the normal version (not dev) so does it work in the new version or not?
@Darthmineboy
Just download a dev build from the link on the page, you should be good.
@Darthmineboy
I'll add a option to override the help command right now. I'll also put a link to my jenkins in the description.
Nopl prevents the usage of /help , if I were to add permissions for that, I would also allow them to use /? which shows the plugins. Would it be possible to bypass Nopl?
@bluelightning001
Put it in your plugin folder, and when it runs it should make a folder called Help Pages
@TheCoolGuy123_5_Minecraft_
I probably forgot what the symbol is... just a second... I should upload the new version soon, it is a -
@ultimate_n00b
Well I tried doing ranks.txt and that worked, then I tried doing ranks-default and it will not work unless I do /help ranks-default.
The - is not working.
When I try to install it, the .jar doesn't turn into a folder..
@ultimate_noob
Ah good. Might want to add that to the OP
@GuyThatNeedsHelp
Nope, not at all.
Hello! I am just wondering, will any other plugins interfere with this? Such as Essentials or Group Manager? Thanks.
@TheCoolGuy123_5_Minecraft_
Yeah you can do that.
Just make a file called Ranks-<Name> and it will replace the - with a space.
@Twhite98
Thanks! Thats my goal!
Its Good!
Well it's fine.
Also, before I forget, I also want to make a page called /help ranks it will list all the the ranks and then if I do /help ranks [rank name] it will list info about that certain rank. I did do this with Essentials and made an alias of /news, but I would love thi better.
@TheCoolGuy123_5_Minecraft_
Wait, I get what you're saying now.
You'll have to line them up yourself, though it is nearly impossible due to chat width/texture packs.
Just got the latest version approved, I had a mixup with the jar files and uploaded the wrong one.
Anyway, next update I plan on adding metrics; its nice to know who uses this.
