GingerSnap
GingerSnap
Abandoned.
Yep. Abandoned. Deserted. Cast aside by its creator. Not due to the Bukkit DMCA thingy (because face it, we're all still gonna use Bukkit), but because I started writing this mainly as a means of bringing myself up-to-date on development methodologies and whatnot. But if you think you're up to the challenge of maintaining my source, go for it! Have fun, and may the Force be with you.
What is GingerSnap?
GingerSnap is an extremely lightweight utility plugin for Bukkit, much like Essentials. So why shouldn't you stop reading now and stick to Essentials? Essentials is designed to be extremely flexible and feature-packed, however, they do this at the cost of one of your most important resources: RAM! Think about it for a moment. Essentials is always running listeners in the background, even if, for example, nobody's online! Now, couldn't all that RAM be used for better things? (Yes, it could!) This is where GingerSnap comes in. GingerSnap is designed to run with a minimal memory footprint, running only the necessary background processes, and only when they're needed.
Development of GingerSnap is centered around you, the community. Need something implemented on your server, but can't find a low-footprint plugin that does what you need? No problem! Just submit a ticket, and if we feel it is appropriate, we will begin implementation ASAP. Also, bugs don't last long in our releases; we dogfood GingerSnap. For those of you who don't know what that means, it means we use GingerSnap as the primary solution for our own servers, which gives us the motivation needed to find and fix bugs. If, for some reason, you find a bug before we do, simply submit a ticket or post it in the comments, and we will prioritize the patching of it.

Do you speak a foreign language? If so, please take just five or ten minutes out of your life to help us with localization! We don't care if you review a current localization to confirm it's accuracy, or if you enter the translations for an incomplete localization! Just help us out! Hello, everybody. I apologize for it being so long since an update, as my SSD crashed in my machine and I've been waiting for the replacement to arrive. It just came in yesterday, I've just got to finish pulling all of my backups down and then I will clone my Git and begin working on GingerSnap again! Woo!
@MrBDayz
Thanks, I realize that it isn't open RIGHt this second, thats because Im doing some backend maintenance on Jenkins (my continuous integration server). It'll be open soon
hey, just a thing. The GingerSnapshot link is blocked. It says "You do not have access to this repository."
idk if you already have any new snapshots there or not, but I'd like to test the plugin whenever a new version arrives =)
@MrBDayz
Alright, thanks a ton :D I always appreciate the community's help in things like localization
@joshuat3500
all done :D
I didn't include accents ( ~ á or â) because everytime I translated plugins on my servers, those accents created weird symbols, which made words "not words" lol Just a heads up on that.
@MrBDayz
Localization -> Overview -> Brazilian Portugese
@joshuat3500
Overwrite wich ones? And where? :p
@MrBDayz
Hang on, Ill just purge the existing translation, and if its no bother, you could try just manually entering em via Bukkit's phrases GUI xP
@joshuat3500
hi (I changed accounts, as mentioned in the signature). yes, I did translate that phrase.
@DeadByBlockPT
In the file you're trying to upload, have you translated the phrase with the key name 'DIE_DESCRIPTION'?
Hey, I finished the translation for PTpt and I tried importing it to PTbr but it gave me this error. " Key 'DIE_DESCRIPTION' in import data not found in phrases. Make sure that all your keys are accurate and you are up to date. "
I can always send a text file with the translation if you want.
@joshuat3500
I don't need credit on the authors list. A translation is nothing compared to coding.
@datmc
Daww, feels good that someone appreciates it, even though those are only translations :) Doing some new ones (as long as I can translate them - I could use Google Translate, but that would give me wonky results, and I'm from Poland anyways).
I like that MarianPazdioch is helping you with translations. It just shows how kind some people in the Bukkit/Minecraft community really are. :)
@DeadByBlockPT
Hey, uh at the moment, /spawn, /suicide (/die) exist, but I can implement /warp, /gm, /kick, and /tempban in version 1.2.9. Coloured signs I can cover in v1.3beta, and /ban and /banip are vanilla commands. If you sufficiently translate to Portugese (yes, PLEASE translate it correctly if you do xD ) then I will place credit to you in the authors list at right. Thanks for the interest!
Hi! I'm currently working on a server (not expecting to host it - low on the moneys lol) and I'm currently inclined to use this plugin instead of essentials. If you could just tell me if the plugin has the following features (or direct me to a page which can help) I would be thankfull.
the equivalent of the following (in essentials): /spawn - surely it has this; /warp - set custom teleport areas; colored signs (less plugins, less ram usage); /suicide - kill yourself; /gm - faster gamemode toggling; /kick, /ban and /tempban + /banip; I think that is all < I > need.
btw, if you want me to translate the messages to portuguese, I'd be happy to do it. "real" portuguese. not portuguese from Brasil.
@MarianPazdioch
Actually, its already released. Head on over to the 'Files' tab: 1.2.7 should do it. I know it says its for Bukkit-1.7.2, but it was built for 1.7.8. They just don't provide an option for 1.7.8 in the 'Version' context. You can also pick up development builds at:
GingerSnapShot
But be warned, these aren't approved by Bukkit staff. And yes, the /spawn and /home commands are planned for implementation.
Oh, and before I forget - could you add a "/spawn" and/or "/home" command? There are lots of warp plugins out of here (at least from what I recall), so I think adding them would be pointless.
@joshuat3500
No problem. Sadly, new lines are coming probably tomorrow (schoolwork...). When will you update to 1.7.8? I'm not one of those kids who are impatient, I know converting to UUIDs can take a while. Could you write an estimated release time, though?
@MarianPazdioch
Thanks, Marian. I appreciate it. I can be a developer or a polylingual, I don't have time for both xP
