BackPacks++
BackPacks
Hello there! Do you hate it when you're exploring your minecraft world and you find some shiny diamonds but your inventory is full? Well then this plugin is something for you! This plugin aims to be the best inventory-expander in the bukkit plugin world. While it is very advanced it's still easy to use and easy configurable. You can add as much backpack types as you want. If you have any question or suggestions, don't hesitate to pm me! (Asking things in a comment will not get support!)
How to use BackPacks?
Using the plugin is fairly easy. The default backpack recipe is a chest surounded by leather and the default size is 27. Since version 1.6 you can also open a backpack by right clicking in the air! When crafting a backpack you will notice it's name and the lore, the lore is a purple integer '0', now when first right clicking your backpack you will register it. A message will popup: You registered <backpack> : <id>. You will also notice the name of the backpack changed to: <yourname>'s <backpackname>, and the lore is changed to a purple integer which represents the id, your name and the backpack type (this may look ugly but it makes the plugin way faster and less buggy).
You will also notice the item has an enchantment glow, now we did this to detect wether an item is a backpack or not, since it's a custom enchantment don't place your backpack in an anvil because that will crash your client. You are also not able to put your backpack in your backpack, to prevent backception.
The default crafting recipe:
When registering your backpack, the output will be:
And when hovering over your backpack:
(I know it looks ugly but I'm currently searching a way to hide the lore)

To do
I'm currently adding some fancy stuff like economy support, so players are able to buy backpacks and maybe language support. And who knows, maybe one day I'll add physics so players get tired when carrying around their heavy backpacks.

This version of StackableItems fixes the duplication bug.
@TheNicklander @WulfCraft165
Would be a possible feature, but this would also be pretty complicated and not server friendly as you would have to look through all items in all backpacks in your inventory.
@TheCoolGuy123_5_Minecraft_
You can set the max stack size higher or lower with stackable items.
@dominikarajch
You can send @CaptainBern a private message, because he actually does not read the comments very often :D
I love this plugin. Awesome work :)
I see that on your to-do list you are adding some stuff like adding econ support to allow players to buy backpacks.
I'm looking to use this plugin on a RPG type server. Any chance that in the future we can see a configurable amount per rank? Example, default can have 3, rank A can have 4, rank B can have 5, ... etc?
@LordKainzo
When the plugin is disabled, it will still have a title and lore, but if you place it, the chest's name up top (the "Chest) will change to <Name>'s Backpack.
And its just a normal chest, just not placed. So it should.
Does this allow for storage of NBT / custom items?
What happens when the plugin is removed? do the backpacks revert to normal items?
Thanks!
@TheNicklander
Well I mean like the quiver in the morebows plugin. Make it so you can access the items like arrows without having to move them into your inventory. Just a neat utility. Like using Enderpearls with my EnderBow.
@darkness1999
I think Wolfcraft wants to be able to use items while they are in his backpack. But in my opinion this is not necessary at all. :)
@darkness1999
Yes. a nbti name plugin
And for the stackableitems plugin, but using what you told me, I don't think I would be able to stack normal chests.
First of all: sorry for late response.
@Wbfw @Wbfw @TheCoolGuy123_5_Minecraft_
Use StackableItems. Write into your items.yml: your-backpack-item-material-name: 1 so you will only be able to stack backpacks up to 1. That causes the following: you can only craft one backpack at once then you must put it out of the working bench. Also you will not be able to register more than one at once because you can only stack them up to 1 (i think you must be gamemode survival....) There is only one thing I should note: this won't work with old stacks of backpacks (so if you have them already stacked BEFORE you installed this plugin and register them AFTER this plugin is installed, then you will be able to get a duplication)
@TheCoolGuy123_5_Minecraft_
What plugin do you use for renaming? I guess an nbt editing plugin, am i right?
@WulfCraft165
I don't understand what you want to know?!?
Something you could look into it use of items while in the backpack.
@darkness1999
I did /nbti name <name> that changes the name of the item, and it works 100% correctly, it works, i made two kind of backpacks, works for both. Plus in the lore it says your name...
@Wbfw
I believe I have the same, if you have 3 unregistered chests and right-click to register them, all 3 of them are registers. Also, maybe to register make it so you have to shift+right click.
Also, how do I spawn in a backpack, If I want a backup backpack.
Also, could you add a feature to be able to rename backpacks? [Still works, if you rename it]
If I have backpack than 2, I click right, stacks of backpack item are registered to same. For this, several bug exist.
That setup you have for this plugin? Stackableitems still occurs duplication bug items having the plugin you mention.
@resitancedude
You could use StackableItems to fix this (I use this also on my server and it works perfectly fine with this plugin)
@eddman37 @crunkazcanbe
No it is not possible to rename your backpack and i guess this will never be added, because this plugin (i guess) needs the name of the backpack to find the owner of the backpack and the backpack recipe.... otherwise it wouldn't work :(
Couple of other things. First is that when I originally installed this, backpacks were enchanted, however now they are not.
Second, this seems to have a lot of trouble with names that have spaces, for example I cannot delete a pack named Fanny Pack because there is a space, however the file is named FannyPack. Wouldn't it be easier to use the backpack recipe name instead of the backpack name?
How exactly does one set up a custom permission?
I am having a problem with the nesting feature. I have 6 main packs in various sizes that do not allow nesting but a 7th pack i would like to allow nesting. Obviously I have already set nesting to true on that pack in the .yml I am also using 1.7.2 dev If that would make a difference
Edit: With some testing it seems that nesting will only allow me to put packs of that same type inside its self. In other words, packs that have nesting set to false cannot be put into other packs even if the pack it is being put into has nesting set to true. In my case I can work around this but it would be nice to see in some way a nesting whitelist. For example, lets say I have a pack named Pouch and a pack named Upgraded Pouch. I dont want players to be able to put the pouch in the upgraded pouch and vise versa. Instead I have a third pack named Extreme Pouch that I would like users to store Pouch's and Upgraded Pouch's in.
Yep a way to rename the packpack would be cool
Hello, Is their anyway I could rename my backpacks. I would love to have one named RedStone Crap and so on.
OMG my player find a duplication beug....... when you create two same backpack you can duplique items Change this !!!!!! If you create a backpack you can only create just 1 backpack not 2 3 4 5 6 JUSTE 1 beacause my player duplic beacause they open the backpack at the same times and pickup diamond and duplic
