TARDIS

What it does

TARDIS is a plugin that gives you the ability to create a Police Box that lets you time travel (teleport) to random locations. It adds a Whovian twist to the typical /sethome and /home commands.

As a player, you can:

  • Create a TARDIS that is bigger on the inside.
  • Time travel to a random location.
  • Time travel back home (where you created the TARDIS initially).
  • Save and list interesting time travel locations, so you can return to them easily.
  • Take companions with you when you time travel.
  • Make your TARDIS blend in with the Chameleon Circuit.
  • Use your own schematic to build the TARDIS interior
  • Grow new TARDIS rooms
  • Use Artron Energy
  • Remote control the TARDIS
  • Custom TARDIS sounds with companion Resource Pack
  • Custom TARDIS textures with companion Resource Pack - requires MCPatcher with CTM and CIT

What's new?

v2.9.2

To avoid any confusion, this version is for CraftBukkit 1.7.9 or higher only due to the upcoming Minecraft in-game name changing. This means the plugin will update the TARDIS database file to use player UUIDs instead of player names. This requires that the plugin connect to api.mojang.com to lookup the applicable UUIDs - the plugin does this one time when the server is started up after installing the new version the first time. For more information, please see: http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/tardis/tickets/678-uuid-migration/

The TARDIS.zip file also includes a new TARDISHorseSpeed.jar for CraftBukkit 1.7.9 compatibility.

Installation

As a minimum, just drop the TARDIS.jar and any optional plugins listed below into the Bukkit plugins folder and start your server. For more detailed instructions see: http://eccentricdevotion.github.io/TARDIS/installation.html

Note v2.8 needs to have WorldGuard & WorldEdit on the server for the plugin to enable. (Fixed in build #780 and higher)

Optional installs

These are not needed for TARDIS to function, but enhance the plugin with extra features...

  • Install the TARDIS Resource Pack in the Minecraft client to hear custom TARDIS sounds
  • Install Multiverse so you have multiple worlds to travel to. This is also required if you want to generate TARDISes in their own self-conatined world, and grow rooms.
  • Install the TARDISChunkGenerator plugin so that you can generate TARDISes in their own self-conatined world (included in the ZIP download).
  • Install WorldGuard to automatically protect your TARDIS from griefing, and stop mobs spawning in TARDIS worlds.
  • Install WorldBorder to restrict the size of the worlds generated for TARDIS occupation.
  • Install TARDISWeepingAngels to add some Whovian mobs to the game.
  • Install a Permissions plugin, so that you can restrict or grant players the rights to use TARDIS’ different features. We like PermissionsBukkit.
  • Install ProtocolLib so that the TARDIS Zero Room is completely detached from the universe and the TARDIS Keyboard is editable by clicking it
  • Install LibsDisguises so that you can use the Genetic Manipulator / Immortality Gate

Bugs / Requests

Please post a ticket for TARDIS plugin requests and bugs, thank you :)

WARNING: I am no longer prepared to waste my time looking at incomplete tickets. If your ticket does not follow the guidelines set out below, it will be deleted immediately!

Make sure you have read the FAQs first, as your question may already be answered there.

If you are going to create a BUG ticket you need to supply relevant information (as I'm not a mind reader, nor do I have access to your server...) - as a minimum you need:

  1. Exact CraftBukkit version i.e. NOT 'the latest' - use the /tardis version command
  2. Exact TARDIS version i.e. NOT 'the latest' - use the /tardis version command
  3. The server log showing the entire error (as a paste or wrapped in <<code>> tags - NOT a screenshot) - if no error in the log, then a video of the bug happening or the EXACT steps needed to reproduce the issue.
  4. Attach your plugins/TARDIS/config.yml file
  5. Attach your plugins/TARDIS/TARDIS.db file
  6. List of other plugins on server
  7. And read this: How to file bugs

Stats

Basic statistics are collected for some versions of the TARDIS plugin (v2.5.8 and earlier). You can opt out at any time by setting opt-out: true in plugins/PluginMetrics/config.yml

External web access

Version 2.8 of this plugin includes a translation feature (the /tardissay command) that connects to Microsoft's translation service. The URLs it connects to are:

You can prevent players from using the command by removing / not giving them the permission tardis.translate

    @qawsqnick1: Go

    Try the latest v2.4-beta-2 build to get Emergency Program One working correctly if create_worlds is true. Get it from the Jenkins server (or the mirror if it is not up)

    @bkf8: Go

    You don't need to find it, you need to negate it in your permissions plugin config e.g.

    • in PermissionsBukkit you would put: tardis.book: false
    • in GroupManager/PEX you would put: - -tardis.book

    Make sure the player is in a location where the TARDIS can actually materialise

    @RedZombieHD: Go

    A) Is fixed in the latest build, download from the Jenkins Mirror linked above

    B) Are you getting the message: Release the handbrake to start rescuing [player] ?

  • Avatar of RedZombieHD RedZombieHD Jun 05, 2013 at 11:31 UTC - 0 likes

    Hey, I'm currently having two problems with the 2.4 build.

    A) I cannot get the EPS to work, the Citizens plugin is in and enabled, Autonomous is on and enabled in the Tardis preferences, along with the EPS preferences, the only thing I can think of is that I either need to make a NPC or I need to add a permission? Also, "[WARNING] [TARDIS] Task #453 for TARDIS v2.4-beta-1 generated an exception" happened when the tardis malfunctioned, any connection? (full error at the bottom)

    B) The Rescue command doesn't want to rescue people, when /tardis rescue (player) is entered, it tells the player to accept, which he does. But the lever can't be pulled as it says a destination needs to be set. am I missing something?

    Full error report:

    @_DaBeagle_: Go

    You'll need to edit the database.

    • tardis table
    • find your tardis record
    • edit the 'creeper' field with the new coordinates

    You'll need an SQLite editor: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/sqlite-manager/
