TARDIS

What it does

TARDIS is a plugin that gives you the ability to create a Police Box that lets you time travel (teleport) to random locations. It adds a Whovian twist to the typical /sethome and /home commands.

As a player, you can:

  • Create a TARDIS that is bigger on the inside.
  • Time travel to a random location.
  • Time travel back home (where you created the TARDIS initially).
  • Save and list interesting time travel locations, so you can return to them easily.
  • Take companions with you when you time travel.
  • Make your TARDIS blend in with the Chameleon Circuit.
  • Use your own schematic to build the TARDIS interior
  • Grow new TARDIS rooms
  • Use Artron Energy
  • Remote control the TARDIS
  • Custom TARDIS sounds with companion Resource Pack
  • Custom TARDIS textures with companion Resource Pack - requires MCPatcher with CTM and CIT

What's new?

v2.9.2

To avoid any confusion, this version is for CraftBukkit 1.7.9 or higher only due to the upcoming Minecraft in-game name changing. This means the plugin will update the TARDIS database file to use player UUIDs instead of player names. This requires that the plugin connect to api.mojang.com to lookup the applicable UUIDs - the plugin does this one time when the server is started up after installing the new version the first time. For more information, please see: http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/tardis/tickets/678-uuid-migration/

The TARDIS.zip file also includes a new TARDISHorseSpeed.jar for CraftBukkit 1.7.9 compatibility.

Installation

As a minimum, just drop the TARDIS.jar and any optional plugins listed below into the Bukkit plugins folder and start your server. For more detailed instructions see: http://eccentricdevotion.github.io/TARDIS/installation.html

Note v2.8 needs to have WorldGuard & WorldEdit on the server for the plugin to enable. (Fixed in build #780 and higher)

Optional installs

These are not needed for TARDIS to function, but enhance the plugin with extra features...

  • Install the TARDIS Resource Pack in the Minecraft client to hear custom TARDIS sounds
  • Install Multiverse so you have multiple worlds to travel to. This is also required if you want to generate TARDISes in their own self-conatined world, and grow rooms.
  • Install the TARDISChunkGenerator plugin so that you can generate TARDISes in their own self-conatined world (included in the ZIP download).
  • Install WorldGuard to automatically protect your TARDIS from griefing, and stop mobs spawning in TARDIS worlds.
  • Install WorldBorder to restrict the size of the worlds generated for TARDIS occupation.
  • Install TARDISWeepingAngels to add some Whovian mobs to the game.
  • Install a Permissions plugin, so that you can restrict or grant players the rights to use TARDIS’ different features. We like PermissionsBukkit.
  • Install ProtocolLib so that the TARDIS Zero Room is completely detached from the universe and the TARDIS Keyboard is editable by clicking it
  • Install LibsDisguises so that you can use the Genetic Manipulator / Immortality Gate

Bugs / Requests

Please post a ticket for TARDIS plugin requests and bugs, thank you :)

WARNING: I am no longer prepared to waste my time looking at incomplete tickets. If your ticket does not follow the guidelines set out below, it will be deleted immediately!

Make sure you have read the FAQs first, as your question may already be answered there.

If you are going to create a BUG ticket you need to supply relevant information (as I'm not a mind reader, nor do I have access to your server...) - as a minimum you need:

  1. Exact CraftBukkit version i.e. NOT 'the latest' - use the /tardis version command
  2. Exact TARDIS version i.e. NOT 'the latest' - use the /tardis version command
  3. The server log showing the entire error (as a paste or wrapped in <<code>> tags - NOT a screenshot) - if no error in the log, then a video of the bug happening or the EXACT steps needed to reproduce the issue.
  4. Attach your plugins/TARDIS/config.yml file
  5. Attach your plugins/TARDIS/TARDIS.db file
  6. List of other plugins on server
  7. And read this: How to file tickets

Stats

Basic statistics are collected for some versions of the TARDIS plugin (v2.5.8 and earlier). You can opt out at any time by setting opt-out: true in plugins/PluginMetrics/config.yml

External web access

Version 2.8 of this plugin includes a translation feature (the /tardissay command) that connects to Microsoft's translation service. The URLs it connects to are:

You can prevent players from using the command by removing / not giving them the permission tardis.translate

Sorry to be one of those people that repost in an attempt to get a problem solved. Here's a video on whats happening. It was done quick and dirty but it should get the job done.

Like I've posted a number of times already (even lower down the page...), I cannot reproduce the TARDIS leaving behind a duplicate when it dematerialises, so details of the exact steps required to reproduce the problem would be very helpful...

    Videos will help even more...

Plugin was working like a dream until recently. Before the 2.4 Update the TARDIS started leaving itself parked in the same spot when it de-materialized. I upgraded to 2.4 in hope to have the problem fixed but to no avail.

Any ideas? Help is greatly appreciated.

Oh... thanks. I swore I read that somewhere, and was browsing through the permissions page and all... sorry!

Hate to post again, but after finally getting the permissions right non-op's can create and use the tardis... except for destroying blocks to grow rooms. In the world config, I have all the TARDIS worlds set to survival- don't want them walking out of the tardis with things they picked up in creative. So is there a permission to allow them to destroy/ create blocks? Thanks!

I enabled eps and added a message, but when the TARDIS malfunctions, and I die, the TARDIS still does not initiate the NPC. I do have the Citizens plugin as well. What should I do?

Hello, I got the most recent beta working(had to disable factions hooking). I love the new features, a couple things I think would be cool to see, is they keyboard added to the default control room schematics, and the ability for HADS to detect explosion damage and/or collision damage. (:

Dunno if it would be possible, but I've seen plugins that alter the appearance of timeflow in minecraft, it would be cool to switch to a normal day/night cycle at say 800x-1000x speed while "in the time vortex" so if one were to look outside the tardis while traveling they would see a vortex like effect across the sky.

Also, it would be cool to have a feature that can be turned on or off, to include a list of all schematics on http://tardis.thatsnotacreeper.com/browse.php, and allow them to be built/downloaded if they don't already exist in the custom schematics directory.
