Nick Namer
Nick Namer - Change your in-game name!
Current Latest Version: v1.2.1
I'm Not Dead!
A lot of time and effort goes into these plugins I make. I'm currently a Freshman in High School so it's hard to find the time to maintain and develop my plugins. Donations would be a great way to help me and for you guys to show your appreciation. Donate
Tired of the same in-game name? Well Give yourself a brand spanking new Name! That's right son, a NEW NAME! Nick Namer currently has permissions support (SuperPerms by default...), TagAPI Support, and will default to OP if no permissions file is found.

In Depth Features (Will most likely answer any questions you have)
What this plugin does is allow players to change their display name, not their actual minecraft username. If you don't have TagApi it will only change your chat name and player tab list name. Now what this means is that the name over your head will not be changed with regular installation. IF you use a chat plugin such as Herochat or whatever chat plugins are out nowadays, make sure you change the chat configuration to show the display name instead of the player's actual minecraft username. If you want all Nick Namer has to offer and have installed TagAPI, then with the use of this API, the name above the player's head will be changed, along with their skin of the player's name. (E.g if I nicknamed myself 'Notch', the name above my head would change to 'Notch' and my skin would be changed to his too) I cannot change the fact that your skin changes with the nicknames, as mbaxter said in the description of his API, this is a minecraft client issue and cannot be changed. When you nickname yourself it will check if your name is blacklisted or not based on the config node 'Use Blacklist' and whether or not you have the permission to bypass the blacklist. If you try to nickname yourself a blacklisted word, the NickChangeEvent is cancelled.
Commands
- /nnick <NickName> - change your name, even with Colors1 (Ex. /nnick &b[CoolGuy]&ckilljoy64)
- /nnick <Player> <Nick> - changes the players Nick to the specified Nick. (Ex. /nick PWicks23 &bPWicks)
- /realnick <Nick> - returns the players real name! (New and Improved!)
- /nicknamer <Arg1> <Arg2>... - NickNamer Plugin commands like reload ect.

hi
you cant even save for next time you re-log in >:(
@PrimerBlock
same here
If this plugin doesn't have any command to remove my nickname and put the original's back, it's simple shit.
While upgrading to bukkit/spigot 1.7.9 I noticed the following error with nicknamer in the logs:
[17:12:29 INFO]: [NickNamer] Enabling NickNamer v0.9 [17:12:29 WARN]: [NickNamer] "NickNamer v0.9" has registered a listener for org. kitteh.tag.PlayerReceiveNameTagEvent on method "public void bukkit.killjoy64.Nic kNamer.TagApiListener.onTagReceive(org.kitteh.tag.PlayerReceiveNameTagEvent)", b ut the event is Deprecated. "Server performance will be affected"; please notify the authors [].
Note it says I am loading NickNamer v0.9 but I am loading v1.2.1. Tried re-downloading it several times but keep getting this same message.
The plugin still seems to work but the "server performance will be affected" message worries me.
1.7.2-version would be great for this grandpa-plugin..
..it´s a great plugin by the way :-)
@GreenGrizzlyBear
There is no way to just change your name above your head due to that is part of minecraft code. You can use scoreboard teams to change color of your name and to add letter before or/and behind it, but that is about it actualy. If you don't know how to do that ask me and I will tell you in details.
Nice, I only have 1 problem... I can't change my name back to default. I use scoreboard teams to change some stuff in my name but when I can't be effected by teams anymore after I used a nick. I don't want to manualy stop the server and delete the nick file all the time I want to go back... I got the newest version of this plugin and on this site it clearly says: /realnick <Nick> - returns the players real name! (New and Improved!) But it don't even change my name back to normal... Cool idea, but this is very anoying. Am I doing something wrong or?
And also it reseted my score on objectives in the scoreboard.
Hi there i really like your plugin but the nick wont come in chat. Is it because of essentials`?
Whenever I use this I get a error saying:
"[TagApi] Event took too long..." Anybody know about this?
@GreenGrizzlyBear
That is just how minecraft works. Not really a bug. If you change it to a nonexistent name it will change you to steve. If you find a plugin that adds the ability to change your name and not change your skin let me know.
@EN7
This changes my skin
If I set my nick name to Notch, I have Notch's skin, and name above my head
Tested it with several others too, Dinnerbone, jeb_, etc..
I'm looking for something to JUST change the name above my head :/
@GreenGrizzlyBear
Skins aren't nicks. You can change it in minecraft.net settings
Umm, is this suppose to change our skins?
I'd like to use a special skin for my nick name, and I can't because its just showing steve. Is there any fix for this :(
Anyone know of a plugin that would work for this?
Update would be nice?
Could you also add the option for increasing the amount of characters you can use? I can't even type GreenGrizzlyBear, much less add color codes :(
2ndly, could you make it where color codes arn't counted as characters?
Why Are These Plugins So Hard to Install?
So you can see im a server noob and i use himachi w/ craftbukkit and some plugins. Those other plugins were installed by just dropping it into the plugin folder.
Todo: Do a MASSIVE code cleanup More Commands for Future References Duplicate Names/Impersonation check for NickNames Add a parser to all commands you type.
What the heck does this mean? It shouldn't take a genius to install a simple plugin. Is any1 with me here?
Plugin works great, only problem is tab list doesn't work on bukkit 1.7.2. Also if you could add in chat nicknames that'd be wonderful. <3
Thanks for your hardwork!
Hi, I'm running this on a tekkit classic 3.1.2 server and using the last version of this plugin compatible with 1.2.5 and I'd like to know if there's
A. A way to use the normal essentials command or
B. A way to display my nickname in chat as my nickname doesn't show up in chat yet it states I have changed my nickname
Please update to 1.6.4 ? i have mini bug : Change Name and auto Change Skin .....
My Plugins NickNamer.jar TagAPI.jar Vault.jar AdminCmd.jar ChatManager.jar ChestShop.jar CookieMonster.jar HealthBar.jar iConomy.jar mcMMO.jar

What This Plz ?
Just a lil question, is there any way to show the new nickname in the Tabulator Player list?
