BetterMOTD
BetterMOTD
This isn't just a standard plugin description. Sure, I’m still trying to get you to use my product. But I'm going to try not to throw a bunch of features at you. But you've already taken the first step to a better server by clicking on my plugin and reading this. Now you're thinking, oh this is stupid this is probably just another crappy plugin, what’s so good about this plugin anyways. My plugin aims to be different by making your MOTD more customizable, allowing for unique and more immersive MOTDs. BetterMOTD allows you use the standard “&” color codes and text effects, as well as being able to include things like player names based on who is viewing the MOTD. You can tell people the name of the server that they’re on, and even what the name of the world that the playing viewing the MOTD is in at the time. We even have full permissions support. In the future I plan on allowing administrators to change the MOTD directly in game. I also plan on adding full support for hooking into Vault to allow the user to see what permissions group they're in and see how much money that they have. The does come with sacrifice, though. The plugin will no longer have the backwards compatibility that is does now. Support for all Java 6 servers will also be lost, as the plugin will stop being developed in JDK 6 and I will start using JDK 7 and JDK 8 gets a full release alongside JRE 8. Of course 260 words and 258 spaces later I end on a negative. I didn't mean to, it just happened.
FAQ
Q: Will BetterMOTD work on older versions of bukkit?
A: Yes, BetterMOTD will work on every version of bukkit after version 1.2.5 R1.
Q: How do you set up BetterMOTD? Is it just drag-n-drop?
A: No, setting up BetterMOTD is a little more complicated. You need to place BetterMOTD into the plugins folder on your server. Next, you need to start your server. If you get any errors since you installed and ran it for the first time, please contact me in a private message. Once you've run your server, you can keep it running while you edit BetterMOTD. To edit your MOTD, you need to navigate to your plugins folder, open the BetterMOTD folder that was just created and open config.yml in notepad or textedit. Microsoft Word and Wordpad will not edit your config correctly and may break the plugin. Not editing the config correctly will result in breakage of the plugin even if you use notepad or textedit. I will have a video on how to properly configure it soon.

can you update the plugin to 1.6.4?
Amazing plugin! May I suggest an update as well as info you can put there such as server time! (this meaning the timezone that the config is given!
So, that update has been really delayed, due to the fact that I'm back in school, and lots of people want help from me in the bukkit forums. Next update will probably include a small patch done by 1Rogue on github, to lighten up the plugin and make it more efficient!
COMING IN NEXT UPDATE:
Snapshot of all this coming later today!
