Description
This plugin is intended to efficiently provide a border for each of your worlds, which only people granted special bypass access are allowed beyond. These borders can be round/elliptic or square/rectangular. As the plugin has been written with performance as the most important goal, it should have no performance impact on your server. Additional world trimming and filling commands are available as well.
Older plugins which originally inspired the creation of this one: rBorder and BorderGuard.
Features
- You can set up a separate border for each world, but only one border per world.
- You can have either round/elliptic or square/rectangular borders. Square/rectangular borders are slightly higher performance, round/elliptic borders make for nicer display maps. Different worlds can have different border shapes if you so choose.
- Configuration and border setup is done completely using commands in-game or through the server console. No need to ever edit the config file directly.
- Support for all permission plugins which interface with Bukkit's built-in "superperms" permission system.
- You can fully generate (fill) your world all the way to the border, filling in any missing chunks, including a configurable buffer zone just outside your border.
- You can trim off any world chunks beyond the border, getting rid of extraneous parts, with a configurable buffer zone left just outside your border.
- You can use a bypass command to allow specific players to go beyond all borders.
- Borders can be automatically displayed in DynMap if you use that plugin.
- All plugin data is automatically saved whenever any borders or settings are changed.
- If a player crosses a border while in a vehicle, the momentum of the vehicle is stopped and it is moved back inside the border with the player.
- When a player is moved back inside a border, they will be moved to a safe vertical location if needed.
- Borders for specific worlds can be set to wrap around instead of just knocking back players who cross the border, instead sending them to the opposite edge of the border.

Of special interest are the Fill command and the Trim command features:
Borders are also displayed automatically by default in DynMap if you have it:
Still giving me the same error. I deleted my dynmap and worldborder plugin and I deleted the map and started a new one. Filling still works but same error for trimming
@VoltageB
Agreed, testing current worldborder on r5 snap shot and i'm getting attached error at start up.
@dexyh1234
It's trying to delete a region file for a region which is completely outside your border and failing to do so because the file is locked. You can try restarting the Minecraft server (and possibly your OS) and then running the trim command again, or look in the region folder of the world in question and try deleting the specified file yourself.
For some reason when I'm trying to trim my world, my server is giving me an error. It says: [WorldBorder] [Trim] Error! Region file which is outside the border could not be beleted: r.-1.-1.mcr
It's giving me that errors a few times till it's at 100% and I get a Warning Can't keep up at the beginning of it and at the end. It also says:
[WorldBorder] [Trim] 3 entire region<s> and 3072 individual chunk<s> trimmed so far <16.1% done>
The fill option is working though. What am I doing wrong, sir?
Thanks for fixing so quickly, Brettflan, compiled from the source in the repo and it seems to be running fine on r5.
The next recommended build is for Minecraft 1.2, R5, and I and everyone who uses this plugin will greatly appreciate it if you can get a head start on the plugin so it's update to support the new revision when Minecraft 1.2 is officially released along with Bukkit R5.
@FurmigaHumana
5000 chunks total? That seems like a bit of an odd question. A radius of 8 would cover 1 chunk (16x16 blocks), radius of 24 would cover 9 chunks (48x48 blocks), and so forth. I'll let you do the rest of the math.
you know what radius i need set to limit to 5000 chunks?
Hey, I have a suggestion!
Instead of the simple message: "You reached the border blablabla", it would be awesome if you teleport the player to the oposite side of the border so it would be like our real world :P rounded! xD
Thanks
Thank you sir. Love WB!!!
@rpastric
I don't really see the purpose, and it might be less relevant in the near future since I'm probably going to be implementing a different method of handling border crossings.
Any chance we can get per world knockback distance?
Oh, by the way, I finally got around to testing Fill and Trim with DynMap 0.31 running on the server as well. They worked without any errors for me, with only a minor problem showing up with the Trim command. After trimming, you'll need to restart your server (to clear DynMap's chunk cache) and then run a DynMap fullrender to get it to properly remove the chunks from the map.
If you're using WorldBorder 1.5.1 or newer alongside DynMap 0.31 or newer and actually have any problems other than the one I just covered above, please make a ticket about the problem. Details on any error message you might receive would be helpful.
If I get no reports of further problems related to DynMap, I'll assume the problem fixed itself at some point.
1.5.1 is now released.
Mostly just improvements to how the Fill command works, but please read the release notes at the link above all the same.
@JoneKone
Wait a bit, I'll be releasing an update in the next day or two which makes the fill process work a lot better.
Ok Now I have tried to fill the map with 200 - 90 frequency, i lowered the value 10 at a time. This happens everytime unless I manually cancel the fill. cpu never goes above 50% in "90" value
It allways started to lag the server after 25000 filled chunks and started to eat CPU power. + memory http://pastebin.com/Kf8iuAFU
all memory was used after 60000 (10 gigs of memory) no players. http://pastebin.com/kgM5fdCc it just grinds to a halt.
Fill and Trim are super! So i was able to get my map (http://www.minemap.de/live-map/) in the right shape! Thx for this great Plugin!
@Stinger12
Sorry, no.
Is it possible to set a border for a group, but allow another group past the border?
@rpastric
Because of the padding? Keep in mind that chunks beyond the border are generated as padding since player view distance (which loads nearby visible chunks) has to be taken into account.
