FAQ
How do you create a Portal?
- First choose the Portal destination and set it using "/wpdc [name]". This command will set the destination to your current location, world AND angle of view.
- Second, build a portal of any shape out of Gold Blocks. These will make up the Portal's body.
- Third, hold a non-block item and run the command "/wppc [portalName] [destName] [portalBlockMaterial]". This will make it so the next Gold Block you click will turn them into a Portal made of the specified portalBlockMaterial, eg WATER.
- Fourth, right-click any one of the Gold Blocks you built. The plugin will find all adjacent Gold Blocks and turn them all into a Portal!
- Fifth, profit.
Who can use a WarpPortal?
Any one can use a WarpPortal by default. You can revoke someone's WarpPortal rights by setting their permission "warpportal.enter" to false. New: The WarpPortals' Event API allows for this to be overridden!
How do you use WarpPortals?
WarpPortals are always active and simply walking though one will teleport you to its destination.
Who can create/admin a WarpPortal?
Only players who are ops or have the "warpportal.admin" permission.
What settings are there?
- You can change whether normal Nether/End portals function. For example, setting this to false would mean that when a player walked through a Nether portal that they activated with flint, nothing would happen.
- You can change the general Text Color used by the plugin. By default Yellow.
- You can adjust the max portal size. This limit exists so that a Portal so large that it would eternally crash the server can't be created. By default 1000.
- You can change the teleportation message. By default it is "Wooooooooosh!"
- You can change the teleportation message Text Color. By default Purple.
Is there Economy support?
No. Portals are always active and currently don't support any form of Economy plugins. New: The WarpPortals' Event API provides the means for an external plugin to be written to handle this.
What bugs are there?
<s>Ghost Portals: Currently, anyone can break the Portal Blocks that make up the Portal and that will cause the PORTALENTERED event to never fire. This means that to the plugin the Portal still exists but realistically it isn't there anymore. To keep this from happening something like WorldGuard should be used to protect the Portals (though this protection may be a built-in feature in the future). To deal with the possibility of all the Portal blocks getting broken in a Portal, you can use the "/pdelete [portalName]" command to return the Portal to its original Gold Block form. If only a few blocks get broken, simply replacing them with new Portal Blocks should work._</s> Fixed in version 4.1.3
<s>Bad Text Colors: Also, the Text Color settings don't appear to be cross OS Compatible. By default they are setup for Windows but if they don't work for you (if you get white text from the plugin) all Text Color Codes are editable in the Plugin's settings file.</s> Fixed in version 2.0.1
<s>Single Width Portals: Single width portals can only face East or West. This is a very weird bug but it is an unfortunately un-fixable problem. Portal block orientation is decided off of the adjacent portal blocks. Therefore, if two portal blocks are side-by-side, they will connect and face the right way. (Side Note: Even this was a hack and required overriding portal block physics). Sadly, a single portal block doesn't have anything to base it's orientation upon and will then default to East/West. This forum thread details the problem <https://forums.bukkit.org/threads/rotating-portal- blocks.12598/forums.bukkit.org/threads/rotating-portal-blocks.12598/></s> Only applies to WarpPortals made of Nether Blocks as of version 4.1.3

API
WarpPortals now has an Event API. Bukkit explains Events at Event API Reference. WarpPortals triggers custom events allowing other plugins to tie into these events. The events provide player & portal information and allow other plugins to cancel the portal teleportation.

@awendland
thanks for the fast fix. Now all works fine. Nether/End Portal and the self created Portals.
Thank you for that great Plugin
Like your new Horizontal Portals...
@hassassin96
This error may be fixed in the latest version, 1.93. It could be due to the config file failing to load. You can get the latest version at the Source Code and Downloads section of the page with the link labeled "Latest Version".
Cant get Nether portals to work i have allow normal portals set to true but still nothing help please
@lstraath
I wonder if that is the big config saving issue...hmmmmm. I'll experiment around with Multiverse and see what I can get to happen.
Besides that though, are you getting any of the issues I mention in this post to iDazzah? If so, could you also install the special version of the plugin that I posted there?
@DarkenInsanity
Whoops! The plugin overrides the default block events on portal blocks so that it can create portal's that look proper. Unfortunately, this was an unintentional side-effect. I'll look into how block events work to see if Normal Portal Destruction events work.
@iDazzah
Are you getting anything in the console that looks like "Error saving Portal named ..."?
If you are, I'm posting a link to a custom version of the plugin that will post the error messages. Install this and then screenshot/copy-paste the results.

@itsFlexo
There is no "Two-Way Portal" per-say. BUT, you can do this.
Create a destination 'DestA' Create a portal 'PortalB' linked to 'DestA' A block in front of 'PortalB' create destination 'DestB' A block behind 'DestA' create portal 'PortalA' linked to 'DestA'
This will have the same effect as having a "Two-Way Portal"
Sorry it isn't simpler!
I just want to ask if it is possible to make a two-way portal ?
P.S This Plugin is awesome keep it updated ;)
This plugin does not work with MultiVerse anymore. destinations and portals to other worlds are deleted from files after a server restart. It is only after a server restart a /reload just works fine. WarpPortals plugin loads before MultiVerse on my server don't know if that is a problem, but other plugins don't have problems with load order and neither should this one have. Please fix this.
I got the default nether portals working but I ran into some issues along the way
- End portals don't work. The portals show up once you put the eyes in but the portal itself doesn't work.
- You're able to break the obsidian on the nether portal after you create it and the portal remains active.
@SpookyPirate
Jep my Config isn't loading. Because i can Create own Portals an can use them, but all i set in the config File dosen't work. So i want to use the Nether and End Portal by normal Funktion and Create some own Portals.
So i look actualy for the issue who make the config file not loading.
@R4m8o
You are probably having the same issue I am where your config isn't actually loading.
All of the portals are deleted every time I restart the server, I checked the portals.yml and they're just all gone. I've had to redo them multiple times, this plugin doesn't work properly, help!?):
setting allowNormalPortals: true dosn't have any function. When i walt throught an Nether/End Portal that is activatet with flint, nothing happend
Thanks for the amazing plugin. Been looking for something like this for a while. This works great and is easy to setup. But just a heads up everyone don't use this plugin with Precious Stones. The portals will have a lot of issues. Keep up the good work awendland.
EDIT: Forgot to mention every time I change the message you get when you use the portal it doesn't work. It reverts back to its default settings
How come when i restart my server and come back on the portals wont work? it will say this like 6 times [INFO] [WarpPortals] Error in Portal's data file with String "blocks:" And regular nether portals wont work even know i have them set to true
Yes your example is exactly how I tryed setting mine up. We are going to be making holiday lands like in nightmare before Christmas as an upcoming holiday project and we were going to make the trees that take you in between the holiday lands like in the movie (if you have seen it) but all of the portals I've tried to make that are like your example turn sideways. Were you ever able to re create the problem I have with my config not loading?
<<reply @SpookyCraft>>
This is a limitation of Minecraft but I though that I got around it! What does your portal look like?
For example:
BBB
B0B
B0B
BBB
'B' being non-portal outside
'0' being portal
@TheAJ471
I recommend building a structure first, then filling it with gold blocks, and then finally turning those gold into a portal. That way is the easiest and looks the best in my opinion.
the portals look weird. it is all the portal blocks making the portal
EDIT: I have mnaged to build a structure around the ugly looking portal, but awesome plugin btw!
