FAQ
How do you create a Portal?
- First choose the Portal destination and set it using "/wpdc [name]". This command will set the destination to your current location, world AND angle of view.
- Second, build a portal of any shape out of Gold Blocks. These will make up the Portal's body.
- Third, hold a non-block item and run the command "/wppc [portalName] [destName] [portalBlockMaterial]". This will make it so the next Gold Block you click will turn them into a Portal made of the specified portalBlockMaterial, eg WATER.
- Fourth, right-click any one of the Gold Blocks you built. The plugin will find all adjacent Gold Blocks and turn them all into a Portal!
- Fifth, profit.
Who can use a WarpPortal?
Any one can use a WarpPortal by default. You can revoke someone's WarpPortal rights by setting their permission "warpportal.enter" to false. New: The WarpPortals' Event API allows for this to be overridden!
How do you use WarpPortals?
WarpPortals are always active and simply walking though one will teleport you to its destination.
Who can create/admin a WarpPortal?
Only players who are ops or have the "warpportal.admin" permission.
What settings are there?
- You can change whether normal Nether/End portals function. For example, setting this to false would mean that when a player walked through a Nether portal that they activated with flint, nothing would happen.
- You can change the general Text Color used by the plugin. By default Yellow.
- You can adjust the max portal size. This limit exists so that a Portal so large that it would eternally crash the server can't be created. By default 1000.
- You can change the teleportation message. By default it is "Wooooooooosh!"
- You can change the teleportation message Text Color. By default Purple.
Is there Economy support?
No. Portals are always active and currently don't support any form of Economy plugins. New: The WarpPortals' Event API provides the means for an external plugin to be written to handle this.
What bugs are there?
<s>Ghost Portals: Currently, anyone can break the Portal Blocks that make up the Portal and that will cause the PORTALENTERED event to never fire. This means that to the plugin the Portal still exists but realistically it isn't there anymore. To keep this from happening something like WorldGuard should be used to protect the Portals (though this protection may be a built-in feature in the future). To deal with the possibility of all the Portal blocks getting broken in a Portal, you can use the "/pdelete [portalName]" command to return the Portal to its original Gold Block form. If only a few blocks get broken, simply replacing them with new Portal Blocks should work._</s> Fixed in version 4.1.3
<s>Bad Text Colors: Also, the Text Color settings don't appear to be cross OS Compatible. By default they are setup for Windows but if they don't work for you (if you get white text from the plugin) all Text Color Codes are editable in the Plugin's settings file.</s> Fixed in version 2.0.1
<s>Single Width Portals: Single width portals can only face East or West. This is a very weird bug but it is an unfortunately un-fixable problem. Portal block orientation is decided off of the adjacent portal blocks. Therefore, if two portal blocks are side-by-side, they will connect and face the right way. (Side Note: Even this was a hack and required overriding portal block physics). Sadly, a single portal block doesn't have anything to base it's orientation upon and will then default to East/West. This forum thread details the problem <https://forums.bukkit.org/threads/rotating-portal- blocks.12598/forums.bukkit.org/threads/rotating-portal-blocks.12598/></s> Only applies to WarpPortals made of Nether Blocks as of version 4.1.3

API
WarpPortals now has an Event API. Bukkit explains Events at Event API Reference. WarpPortals triggers custom events allowing other plugins to tie into these events. The events provide player & portal information and allow other plugins to cancel the portal teleportation.

I've noticed that when you go through the portals in survival, it taked longer to teleport you.
In creative it does it straight way, could you fix this please? or if it's supposed to be like that ass an option to speed up the teleporting process?
Also, every time I put the server up I have to do /pload for the portals to work. Thanks
As much as I do love this plugin and use it a lot on my server, there is a huge fault with it. When players destroy the obsidian around a normal nether portal, the actual portal itself remains and can only be destroyed in creative. I think this really does need to be fixed.
Any idea when the next update is coming out?
Here are more errors I'm getting. Ignore the link name, lmao. I got this when I typed /pdest test. I was making a test portal after the last error. http://shrib.com/ahugemotherfuckingerrorbywarpportalshelpmehplz
i love this plugin. i have a mild problem with it though, in which im sure is fixable. I cannot pin this problem exactly to this plugin, but whenever my players make a nether portal and destroy a piece of it, the portal still remains when it should disapear. Even if they destroy all of the obsidian the portal will still remain.
Absolutely love this plugin - it's very practical and easy to use. I have come across a bug though whereby one member on my server wanted the Destination changed a few blocks away (To inside their house not outside). I've deleted both the Portal and the Destination and then recreated the Destination a few blocks away, but whenever I try to remake the portal to that new destination, it keeps sending you to the old place (Outside their house). Is there a way to force refresh the yml file whilst ingame or is there a command I've forgotten to do? Thanks :)
@awendland
No, they were not enabled. Often what would happen after you click "esc" and quit the credits you'd appear back where you first touched the portal, when you should actually be teleported back to spawn. I just enabled them and i had no problem with the credit portal anymore.
Is there a way to make it so that the portal will allow only a certain group of players? I am creating a creative world and want a portal to it, but I only want my Builder group to be able to get to it.
Beautiful and simple! Thanks for a great plugin and I highly recommend it to anyone who is still skeptical!
What's with the directions? North south east west.
Would be cool if you could leave out the sound at the portals.
Sometimes it sucks :-)
But cool thing your plugin
Hi I have been looking for this kind of thing for ages, Most others haven't updated in a few months, mulitverse is one of them. I like this plugin and it is easy to use and works well.
The only 2 bugs I found were that it isn't working between world. I create the destination, go to another world, create the portal and enter in the destination and create the portal. That all works fine. Next when I try to go through it says the Wooooosh! thing but the portal doesnt take me anywhere, I looked at the starting code thing and it came up with this:
15:00:23 [SEVERE] Could not pass event PlayerInteractEvent to WarpPortals v2.01 org.bukkit.event.EventException
... and 16 more
that was an error for the creation of the portal this is for me going in
15:00:29 [SEVERE] Could not pass event PlayerPortalEvent to WarpPortals v2.01 org.bukkit.event.EventException
...and 22 more
and the other bug is that when you save the data, the destination don't save.
Hi
Nether Portals aren't working for my server...I changed allowNormalPortals: false to allowNormalPortals: true and it still doesn't work, even after several server restarts.
Any help would be great!!
Hello,
Whenever my server restarts it breaks all of my portals in my portals.yml. If you open portals.yml on a couple of the "portals" are listed and no dest's are listed.
I have a backup from when I made everything work the first time and I have to delete the existing portals.yml and rename my backup in it's place and then /pload to get them to work again. Otherwise I have to run around and remake all the portals.
Also, Nether portals tend to warp pigman to any of my non-nether portals all the time. Such as I have a portal room for warp to world a, b, and c from my "hub/lobby" world... this room will fill up with pigmen.
Hi I've been using this plugin for a week and the first few days it was working fine, now the plugin has stopped working on the latest version, I can't create new Portals and every time the server restarts only 2 portals load from the portal file.
I have since installed PlotMe, that is the only thing that's changed, would be grateful for a fix asap as this plugin when it works, is very useful for my server!
Thank you
Hi, is there anyway you can you commands such as /warpportals <command> other than /p because I have a PlotMe world which uses /p and I can't use any WarpPortals commands.
@awendland
Fixed.. why does it default to false? Normal portals should work by default. Also another issue that hasn't been resolved. You have to break portals (even normal ones) block by block. You can break the obsidian all around the portal but the portal don't go away =/
@GamePlaceParty
When they appear to stop working, stand in one for a while to see if it triggers after a while. This delay is a problem I have noticed before; I think it's due to a plugin conflict. Post your findings, please!
@mrchasez
Even with version 2.01 and Nether/End Portals enabled in the config file? If you have 2.01 and them enabled in the config, post your config on paste in and link to it here. I'll take a look at it and then see what I can do.
I have this and I love it. It works most of the time but sometimes the portals randomly stop working. I dont know why this is. Can anyone help
@awendland
I have the same issue. Nether nor End portals work when this plugin is loaded. Also, you can break the edges of portals (all the obsidian) and the portal stays... it's no good.
