War
War - Minecraft PVP Arenas (TDM, CTF & more!)
Version: v1.9
War lets you create warzones, arenas that host team deathmatch and capture-the-flag battles.
Features:
As a player, you get a fast-paced PVP experience in SMP.
- Join a battle by entering through the warzone lobby. There is one gate per team (team diamond, gold or iron): step in to join that team.
- Your inventory is saved when you join a battle, and restored when you exit.
- When you die inside a warzone, you get instantly teleported back to your spawn, and one life is taken from your team's life pool. When that pool runs out, the other teams score a point!
- Steal the enemy team flag to score for your team.
- Fight over monuments, control points that, when captured, restore health to your teammates.
- Return the cake home to score a point for your team and refill your life pool.
- Capture the bomb and run for your enemy's spawn to blow it up. Careful! If you get attacked at close range you'll blow up.
As a warzone maker, you have total control.
- Take advantage cool landscape features or existing player-build structures and incorporate them in new warzones.
- Tons of options: friendly-fire, auto-assign, turn off PVP outside warzones, define respawn loadouts specific to each zone, and more!
War lets you keep mayhem contained in the warzones.
- All the blocks in a zone are reset at the end of every battle.
- Players are prevented from entering or leaving a zone - except through the designated warzone lobby - by a magic glass wall.
- A warhub can be created to link all your zones together.

Is it possible to add the ability to set a single existing block as the flag or spawn? I would like to make my own custom flags/spawns that look different from the default.
War v1.6.2 is out everyone (for 1.0.1 compatibility and more). Check out the release post.

The "game queue" you suggest has been suggested in the past. It's an interesting idea. Like, "yourname want to play War in the zonename warzone. A game will start if enough players sign on. Use /playwar to sign on." That could be pretty cool. Right now I feel the warhub tends to do a poor job of supervising play. It gives players too many choices instead of directing them to the action.
@fisherman77
I've never gone to great length to integrate with other plugin.. yet! iConomy, Factions and mcmmo are definitely the first ones I'll look into once I get some time to look into that.
@RustyDagger
Thanks! You should have been around when /zonecfg didn't exist and you had to use /setzoneconfig. :D
I like the central/neutral flag idea. That would make for a newish and interesting game mode.
I've made it easier for people to spleef, and Race for wool is so popular, so I don't see why I shouldn't try to accommodate it. :)
As for survival mode, people on my server make "adventure"/zombie-spawner maps all the time. I don't think I'd be able to catch up to MobArena in that department.
I must say at first i thought this plugin was a giant mess. But it's no worse than world edit in that once you use a few commands the command style is easy to pickup on and its even possible to guess some commands with out looking them up. There are so many ways this awesome plugin could still be improved. I would like to list a few below.
1. Shorter commands for savezone and setzone (may already exist but iv not found them)
2. Support for Another type of CTF where there is one or more central flags and all teams compete to get them back to base. from what i can work out it seems only team flag vs team flag is possible. not ideal IMO for large numbers of teams where 1 flag in a Central place would be more fun.
3. Support added for Race for wool type games where there are chests off wool around a large map each team has an area the same and the first to get all the wools back and place them in order wins. I'm sure you have seen vech's maps..
4. survival mode support (not sure what would be needed) Basically each team has an area and waves of mobs spawn in an endless loop or set waves last team standing wins (could use lifepool)
Most well-made plugin! Is there Factions integration, or do you plan on adding any. That would make this plugin even more awesome!
read that you wanted a better way to "supervise" setting up games...
there is a discontinued plugin called 'stuckinthemud'. It was basically freeze tag. It had an excellent way of starting games. Basically, one player with proper permission would type a command to join a game. This would display a global message to all players with permission to join, that said player had joined and displayed the command to join also. Instead of actually jumping directly into the game it put player in queue. Once there were enough players joined, a player with permission would type a command to start the game.
This is an effective system of advertising who's playing and encouraging others to join. Although I believe the portal system should still exist, this system should be implemented.
Since there are already join commands, this will only require that you modify the message to be displayed global and that it be something like this: "[player] has joined warzone [warzone] on team [color]! Type '/zone [warzone]' to join them!" Of course the best option is to allow full customization, such that you can modify this message.
You could add the queue system too, but that is nearly as necessary as a form of advertising games.

Spout integration is in the works for future version. :) As for pvp, you can use the command /warcfg pvpinzonesonly:true.
@AgentSnazz
I'm not sure I understand the issue. Players can't pick up more than 3 items? The only limitation I know of is for team-color blocks (i.e. wool blocks). Maybe I could add a setting to let people carry more, but the thing is this: you can always use your head-block (i.e. you have an infinite supply anyway, since the head block gets reset when you remove it).

Thanks a lot for your support! You'll find a donate button the plugin's website at war.tommytony.com.
Hi everyone. Don't panic! I'm back from the dead. New War updates are forthcoming before and over the Christmas season.
FYI, War works reasonably well with MC 1.0.0. Everything except potions and enchantments seems to be working rather well.
For an update on the status of War, please check my latest wall-of-text reply to the War thread on the Bukkit forums.
Thanks for your patience with the slow updates.
I absolutely love this plugin and would love to donate if you accept donations for your hard work. Any place to do that? :)
Such an awesome plugin and than they don't update it anymore. :(
I am an admin with bashcraft.com and I just wanted to start out by thanking you for creating this plugin, it's amazing, and allows me to bring so much joy to people. I have recreated several WoW, Halo, and CoD maps that are fueled by the wonderful mechanics this plugin offers. This all being said I still think a few changes/addition could bring it to a whole new level of gameplay that i can offer.
1: Territories/King of the hill - Bascially controlling monuments(but something else to show difference) that gives points per time controlled
2: Flag drop locations - Whether it be a sign with the teams color, or actually placing the flag block on the ground. It makes sense to me that it would require your either team to break that sign or block to return or take the flag to return.
3: Health changes - Either by adding health or reducing damage it would increase battle time.
4:Longer respawns - Instant spawn is to fast in most cases for capture the flag, i'm not sure it's possible but a delay would be nice.
5: Commands directed towards players that join - This is mainly to ungod or unvanish admins or mods that join to keep games fair, not really required but it would be nice
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and again i love all that you have given us so far.
I love this plugin and used to use it alot in 1.6 & 1.7 but had to remove it in 1.8. Is this plugin still being worked on??
@bigkevin112
Regarding pvp only in warzones:
The way I did it was that I set pvp: true in server.properties and then used WorldGuard to define the global region to deny pvp. Then create regions around every war arena that allows pvp. :)
Is there any way to change the limit of picked-up items? At the moment, players breaking their way through walls will leave dropped items because they're limited to 3 of each.
I really love this plugin. Thanks so much for making this! :) There are somethings that I would like to see if you could put in this. I use spout on my server and we use spoutflight to fly around. I was wondering if there is a way to make all mods/commands (like god mode, spoutflight, etc.) disabled when your in the game. Also I wasn't sure if this is already in or not but is there a way to keep pvp off in my server and have it where the players in the game hurt each other?
No-one read War' forums ?
@MerlenMage
The final 1.6 update is what he means. Before the 1.6 final release, there was versions like '1.6 PREVIEW 4' and such
Final? What you mean by final? Does that mean your not making it any more? I really want a warzone type game for my sever but the one I wanted doesn't have TD yet and this one is out of date of my server.
No issues here with spout.
With spout you can't connect to the server
is there a way of adding perhaps buyable inventories? so for example if you win alot you can buy better loadouts etc :)
i suppose what I'm asking is for classes with iConomy based in the warhub or at the entrance to each warzone! :) perhaps sign based!
